SEO For Lead Generation
-
From an SEO point of view, is it okay to have a sites focus to be Lead Generation?
We will do a small amount of blogging and we'll also have longer form sales pages on the site... but the main focus would be lead generation pages that we'd target for the SERPs.
TO ME... this seems fairly spammy. If we had 50-60 landing pages with only 100-300 words of copy on them.
If this is "okay" then how much should we altar up these landing pages in terms of content? None of them will be direct copies... but I just want to make sure that we stay above a ratio that would be good for SEO.
Then lastly... How many main terms can we expect to target with a landing page? Should we focus each landing page to a keyword, or can we target a few and still rank effectively?

Yep I can most definitely change it up. But even if I switch it up a bit, wont Google realize that on about 60 pages, I'm just rewording the same thing?
This is what raises my question... because it seems a lot like what the article spinners would do. Even though that's not what I'm doing.

You should mix it up for the call to actions. Part of the value will be for unique content in seo. part will be for the ability to A/B and multivariate test for results......

Does your call to action have to be 100% the same for all you pages. Can you mix it up a little?
Mark is correct, Landing pages for lead generation if defiantly ok to do. Thumbs up

Is there a way to see the "% original content" of a page?
My only fear is that since it's a landing page there's going to be some content crossover, like the call to action, or even just general "market" keywords.
Lets assume that the call to action is only 20 words... (not exactly sure what our CTA will be yet) If the page is 300 words, then thats already 7% of the page that's the same.
Each page will be written uniquely... so it might vary a little bit but I just don't want to spend my time building out a lot of pages when I'll have to go back and rewrite them all. lol

ABSOLUTELY. For a majority of companies, that is the primary reason for SEO. To Google, lead generation is not a dirty word and isnt spammy. What is spammy is non-original content that isnt relevant to the keywords; duplicate content and sites that provide content aggregation.
If you had 50-60 landing pages with solid and relevant content then you can generate some value. Although its not required, I would recommend 300 or more words...... I would recommend using one main keyword and several subkeywords in the content. For example: automotive repair would be the main keyword and auto tire repair or auto tune up or automotive tuneup or automotive muffler repair would all be good keywords because they are a derivation of the main keyword. I would recommend making sure you use the main keyword in the first and last sentence and use sub keywords a minimum of 2-3 times in the article.
When I work with content writers to provide direction on keywords, sometimes I find they write sentences that dont make sense but that use the keyowrds. Make sure that you write the content first about the relevant subject and keyword and then add in the subkeywords as they make sense....dont force it.
Also, if you are using some of the same content, you will create problems for yourself. As a rule you should try and have 80% original content on a page. We have done some rewrites for sites with 1,000's of pages and have seen 60% original content rewrite work, but not all the time. S
Hope this helps..

What is the best way to employ log-in to benefit in SEO?
Hi all, All SaaS companies have this log-in page as their top visited page in their websites and some times it helps and also hurts them. I've gone through some big SaaS companies websites and they handle the log-in page differently like on sub domain, on website page, some will directly link to their instance login without a page, etc...I wonder what is the best practice to host the log-in to make sure the more visits to log-in page don't hurt us but give us some boost. Thanks

How to optimize SEO value of links in a calendar
Hi All- I am building a website about outdoor activities (cycling, kayaking, hiking, etc.). The site will most likely be built with either Joomla or Wordpress. A key piece of the site will be a calendar of upcoming events. The calendar will list the basic attributes of each event like date, time and location. However if an event has a webpage of it's own I will also include a link to that page in the details of the event. My question is: How can I create a calendar that will capitalize on the SEO value of the links included in the event descriptions? I've noticed many similar sites put events into a Google calendar and then embed the Google calendar into their webpage. In that situation would Google even see any external links included in the descriptions of the events? Thanks in advance for any input. -Chris

Does redesigning a website affects SEO results
We have a website and we are getting good traffic to it. Its a travel related domain registered many years back. Now its ranking high for most of the potential keywords even if it is not at all SEO friendly (Domain is an exact match keyword). We are planning to redesign it. Will that affect the SEO Ranking? We need to ask some more doubts: 1. When redesigning we are planning to change the inner page URL. So it it wise to redirect (301) old URL to the new URL? Old url will not be there after redesigning. But its currently having page ranks. 2. Can we redirect more than one old url to a single new page? 3. Google new updates said "they will be going to diminish the exact match results domains". Does that updates affects us? 4. Any more suggestions for the redesigning?

Best SEO Strategy for Social Games
Hi all - wondering if you can help.... We have a social gaming startup with a few million users. Our first game is http://iamplayr.com (currently just a landing page) - now we're just about to launch some more games. We'll have approx 6 titles by the end of the year (note most of our users are on Facebook.com).I'm a little unsure the best way to approach this from an SEO perspective. 1) Should we direct everything to a games specific .com site like http://iamplayr.com -> and if so, should we build out this site to attract more keywords2) Direct everything to our Facebook app e.g. http://farmville.com 3) Have 1 central site for our multiple titles, with each game having a subdomain e.g. ala King.com / Zynga.com etc? What you recommend? Our goal is to have a managable 'off Facebook' strategy that attracts maximum organic traffic for keywords e.g. 'free football game' etc Thanks 🙂 H

E Commerce Product URL SEO
Hi, first question here. In response to Paddy's wonderful article and Rand's related article from 09 I've found myself asking this question. "www.home.co.uk/product" or "www.home.co.uk/category/product" As I'm currently reviewing the structure for so many of our e com sites the article comes at a great time. I'm going for home/category/product so I can optimise for a category, as category based searches are quite high and competitive. Yes some products can appear in 2 categories but I'm combating it with 301's or image based links. What are your thoughts.

Old links in Google, new website affecting SEO?
Hi Guys, I have launched my website in october and it has already been indexed by google. Now I'm going to launch my redesign which comes with a new structure, content, links, etc. So the question is, do I have to resubmit my website to google to get rid of old links? Onsite Explorer shows links to my forum which has been spammed with p* stuff which has been already indexed as well. The forum is off now. I want to use SEOmoz to track my new website but I guess this could be a hard thing as old links etc will be shown as well. Is there any tool to let Google know about my changes? Does it affect my SEO in any way? Thank you for your help. Nick
