Temporary Redirects
-
On my crawl report from SEOmoz, I have a lot of Temporary Redirects listed. The referring site is a product category page, but the URL listed is part of a shopping cart. For example:
Tested true for a temporary redirect referred by this url:
Why does this occur and what can I do about it?
-
I understand the redirect is wrong, but I didn't set up a redirect. I'm not sure why a shopping cart list would be a redirect from a product listing.
-
That likely means you're returning a 302 (temporary redirect) instead of a 301 (permanent). A 301 will transfer rank, a 302 will not.

Redirect Chain
Describe tu pregunta en detalle. ¡Cuanta más información proporciones, mejor! Ayuda a dar contexto a una gran respuesta. in Moz I did the analysis of my web and it tells me that I have a redirect in chain: The redirect chains often occur when several redirecting rules are accumulated, like redirecting a 'www' to a URL other than www or a page not secure to a secure page / https: Look for any recurring string that can be rewritten as a single rule. Take special care with chains 301/302 in any combination, since 302 in the mix could affect the ability of 301 to pass the value of the link. I thank you for your help in solving

RewriteRule . /blog/index.php [L] END WordPress Within wordpress settings the urls are set up as follows Wordpress Address URL: https://www.domain.co.uk/blog Site Address URL: https://www.domain.co.uk/blog i tried to add a trailing / to these but it gets automatically removed. So i am assuming that wordpress is serving up https://www.domain.co.uk/blog **RewriteBase /blog/ **is re-directing it to / then my https rewrite is re-directing it again I am not sure where exactly to fix this, could anybody advise? SEO and auto login with redirect
Hi, we have a site where user we know (cookie-based) is automatic redirected to private internal page. Unknown guests are staying on the page google search sent them. The redirect is done with a 302 to the private page. When I examine organic search and landing pages in analytics I see that more than 50% of the landing pages are private pages (inaccessible for the google-bot). This is because analytics does not register the redirecting page, just the target page. Is this harmful to SEO that so many users are redirected to other pages, or is this data not available to google-bot. The google bots is not redirect since they do not have the correct credentials. Do chrome or analytics send such data back to Google search? Is better to manipulate analytics page track call to use the address of the redirecting page? Or maybe skip to redirect, and just render the private content on the orginal page?

To redirect or not to redirect...That is the question
We have old product data that is being updated (approx 30k sku's). Most of the old pages have been indexed and drive the majority of our online sales. But, the updated products have different titles, H1's, etc and have been re-formatted for the better in terms of usability. So, should we redirect thousands of pages to the new pages? Will Google be ok with that?...or should we reformat the current url's with the new data? And, if we reformat current url's with new data...the fear is that the on-page elements that the pages are being pick up for will get wiped out, (be it the H1 in some cases or the title or alt tag for another, etc) because it's simply too much to retain them during the import. Is it redundant to include a redirect to my canonical domain (www) in my .htaccess file since I already have the correct rel="canonical" in my header?
I've been reading the benefits of each practice, but not found anyone mentioning whether it's really necessary to do both? Personally I try to stay clear of .htaccess rewrites unless it's absolutely necessary, since because I've read they can slow down a website.

Temp redirects of homepage URLs
Working on a site for a client and the CMS provider has all variants of their domain (.co.uk & .com and / and http:// etc) temp redirecting to the /default.aspx homepage. I know in theory that this means no Google Juice is being passed to the final location page, does this mean that all backlinks that point to their domain are not actually passing Juice onto the homepage? Thanks

Question regarding two versions of a page (redirect)
At one point in my SEO journey I had noticed some duplicate issues going on in Google webmaster tools (I could have been reading it wrong.) It looked like WMT was saying I had 2 versions of some of pages...it looked like pages that ended in a '/' ranking differently than pages that have no slash at the end. So I downloaded the redirect plugin and redirected many non / pages to the page that end with the "/". This was probably a mistake. but I'm trying to clean all of that up. (I'm also noticing that SEOMoz tools tells me my site has many, many redirected url's. I'm not sure why. I was looking at http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/pages?site=noahsdad.com%2F this morning at my top pages and it shows 2 versions (one being redirected) of the page about my son who was born with Down syndrome. (Noahsdad.com/story and Noahsdad.com/story/) I don't know if I've built rankings for those pages separately and it would now hurt me if I did away with the redirect. I'm not sure why I did the redirects (I must have read something online somewhere.) I'm wondering if someone wouldn't mind looking at the report and letting me know what the best way to 'clean' this stuff up...Should I go into the redirect software and delete all of the redirects where the non / page is being redirected to the / page? Thanks.
