Why are not nofollowed links counted in On-Page Analysis Report?
-
When I run the On-Page Analysis on our homepage, the report says the page has 238 **"Internal followed links". **
Why are not nofollowed internal links counted as well? Nofollowed links have been leaking link juice for quite some time now.

Thank you, Chiaryn. What I think is relevant when it comes to links on a page is 1. Total links? If the number is high, I would look into if all those links really are necessary. Can we cut down on links that does not point to landing pages in order to give landing pages as much link juice as possible and at the same time increase the chances that those pages get crawled? We have these kind of problems on our e-commerce homepage at the moment - important product pages do not get crawled and/or get too little link juice due to way too many links. 2. Total followed links? Are there links that should be nofollowed in order to establish optimal crawl path? 3. Total external links Too few or are we unnecessarily throwing away link juice off the site? 4. Total followed external links A healthy number or does it look spammy? Best regards Martin •

Hi Martin,
Thanks for writing in. Because the number of internal links on the page is something that is considered to be a low importance factor and nofollowed links provide less link juice than followed links, we currently don't provide this information on the On-Page analysis. If you would like to see the number of internal nofollowed links on a page, I would recommend using Open Site Explorer to pull that data.
We are always looking for ways to improve out products, so I will forward your request to include the information on nofollowed links on the On-Page reports to our product team. Hopefully, we'll see that information added sometime in the future.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

SEOmoz Not Picking Up Links
I'm finding that SEOmoz often doesn't pick up on many of the links my client's websites are attaining. The links do appear in search engine and often have a high domain authority (often PR links, which I why I follow up to see if they've been picked up). I do tend to see many of the links appear in webmaster tools, so it's a little frustrating that they don't appear, even after months of pages being live. Thoughts?

"Too many on page links" phantom penalty? What about big sites?
So I am consistently over the recommended "100 links" rule on our site's pages because of our extensive navigation and plentiful footer links (somewhere around 300 links per page). I know that there is no official penalty for this but rather that it affects the "link juice" of each link on there. I guess my question is more about how places like Zappos and Amazon get away with this? They have WAY over 100 links per page... in fact I think that Zappos footer is 100+ links alone. This overage doesn't seem to affect their domain rankings and authority so why does SEO moz place so much emphasis on this error?

SEOmoz tools: Keyword Difficuty + On-page Analysis
To analyse the current KWD situation. I would want to see the top 10 results link metrics (as in Keyword Difficulty & SERP Analysis) and each page's On page score (as in On-page Analysis) for the keyword. Those two figures would give me a pretty good picture of the current situation. Kind regards,

Why are the rankings of my keywords different to rankings from other programmes such as 'Access my Lan' and 'Firefly'? Does SEOMoz count 'Google Places and Maps' in their rank count? Im thinking this could explain the difference

Too Many On-Page Links: Crawl Diag vs On-Page
I've got a site I'm optimizing that has thousands of 'too many links on-page' warnings from the SeoMoz crawl diagnostic. I've been in there and realized that there are indeed, the rent is too damned high, and it's due to a header/left/footer category menu that's repeating itself. So I changed these links to NoFollow, cutting my total links by about 50 per page. I was too impatient to wait for a new crawl, so I used the On Page Reports to see if anything would come up on the Internal Link Count/External Link Count factors, and nothing did. However, the crawl (eventually) came back with the same warning. I looked at the link Count in the crawl details, and realized that it's basically counting every single '<a href'="" on="" the="" page.="" because="" of="" this,="" i="" guess="" my="" questions="" are="" twofold:<="" p=""></a> <a href'="" on="" the="" page.="" because="" of="" this,="" i="" guess="" my="" questions="" are="" twofold:<="" p="">1. What metric does the On-Page Report use to determine if there are too many Internal/External links? Apologies if this has been asked, the search didn't seem to come up with anything specific to this.</a>
