Is SEM rush accurate enough to validate it's price?
-
I have been doing manual keyword research for some time now, but I am looking for something that can dig deep. I used to use the SEMrush API when i was a raven tools subscriber and it was great for identifying organic rankings for domains. Has anyone had a good experience with this software strictly for keyword research?
-
Oh and is there a tool you DO use that you would recommend?
-
Thanks Daniel. This is the kind of thing I need to know. What about in terms of organic keyword research for non-ppc?
-
I used to use SEMrush for PPC proposals. I would use their data to estimate the cost of a decent PPC campaign for clients. Boy was it worthless. I just checked right now on one of my highest searched keywords. It shows a volume that is 75% of what my search volume was in April. It shows an average CPC of $4.63. My average position is 2.4, quality score is a 5 an my average cpc was $0.99 with a CTR of 2.64%. So my data is totally normal, and my cpc was $0.99. I don't know how they get $4.63. Holiday pricing isn't even above $1.00 per click. So I noticed this trend for literally everything. So if you're doing keyword research for PPC purposes, you can pass on SEMrush.

Price for SEO Audit & Strategy
Hello, I am a part-time SEO and own a few web properties, in addition to owning other small businesses. I do the best I can in my spare time to grow my site's traffic and try to create decently valuable content. However, I feel like I am not getting the best results possible, so I am wondering if anyone on here would be interested in helping me with a site audit and strategy. I can do the grunt work myself, I just want someone with a fresh perspective to weigh in and guide me on what I should focus on to achieve my goals. Please let me know if you're interested and how much it may cost. A range is fine. Here are the specs on my site & niche: About 20 pages of content, most of which have 96-100 page optimization scores on Moz. DA of 19, home PA 32 Most competitive KW is 22 difficulty, 83 opp and 67 potential. Thanks so much, any insight is much appreciated. Please respond here or DM me directly. Best, Ricardo

Site Ranking for keywords that they haven't targeted in content
There is a site that I am constantly battling for the #1 spot for a particular keyword and I can't see that they are doing any link building, they are not using any anchor text for the keyword "at all" just their company name (not exact match) and their content doesn't even contain the keyword. I used Open site explorer to analyze their activity, but they are doing something I can't figure out from that data. Any other tools to use? I have higher quality links than them, post content nearly 5 times per week to my blog and their blog hasn't been updated in ages, I kill them in social media, there isn't one instance that they are better than my site and I only build quality driven links, no blog comment crap and get featured on lots of industry blogs for our work. I distribute my content very effectively, I just can't figure it out. They were no where about 5 months ago now they are tearing it up for lots of keywords in the industry top spots. I can build a few links and surpass them, but I have to do it every week or so and I think they are doing something fishy. I just want to figure out what they are doing and bury them. I don't want to post their url and mine here as I don't want them to see this post in search results.

What's the value of Exact Match Keyword Domains vs. Company Name Domains?
Hey Mozers, I was in a discussion this morning about the value of Exact Match Keyword domains vs. a company name domain and wanted to get a little more clarification. Let's say we are doing a site for a company called Favored Dental, and they have had the domain favoredental.com for quite a while and have their authority built up in it. Is it better to have favored-dental.com or favoreddental.co or keep its current form? The reasoning behind the alternate domains would be they have the exact match keyterm, in this case lets say "Favored Dental" is the keyterm we were going after. To my knowledge EMDs aren't as relevant as they'd use to be as Google would rather branding of companies instead of keyterm domains? Is this correct, or do EMDs of keywords you're going after hold higher authority? Thanks for the clarification!

SEM RUSH
Has anyone else had bad experiences with the company behind SEMRUSH. They have me on an auto renewing subscription and refuse to let me off. There is no way to unsubscribe online and they don't answer phones/emails/messages. The only way is to cancel my debt card which is literally going to cause me a lot of ache... The tool was highly inaccurate and practically worthless. I am really upset they are this unethical.

How to Find Another Site's robots.txt File?
An SEO report, not by SEOmoz, says my top two competitors have robots.txt files that disallows spidering. I suspect that their robots.txt file doesn't disallow all spidering. How do I find out what is in their robots.txt files?

Working through the slides on my first seo project, I'm trying to determine the most popular content on competition sites.
From the video, I understand I should be looking for unique opportunities. But is there a baseline for product qualification, ie., a min. PA,LRD, Inbound LInks, social shares, etc. I guess I'm asking what I should be looking for in the data provided on each competing site? What determines THE most popular and unique product?

Determining why an established competitor's rankings have bombed - What's the best way to go about it?
I arrived at work this morning to find my weekly SEOmoz ranking report for a main competitor waiting in my inbox. 90% of the their rankings have tanked in the last day or so by an average of 3 pages - most down from page 1 or 2 where they had been sitting pretty for ages. I'm not in a state of (total) euphoria about this because a) you should be humble enough not to gloat at your enemy's demise, and b) I need to find out what they did wrong so that I don't make the same mistake, too. **What is your first suggested port of call to determine where my (vanquished) foe has gone wrong? How much can I find out? ** I do know one thing - with OSE I can see they've used dodgy blogging services but this, to my mind, would have been jumped upon by Google last year. No? Thanks guys
