Blog's Homepage isn't indexed even though posts are
-
My blog http://www.cleanedison.com/blog/ doesn't seem to be indexed by Google even though my posts seem to get indexed within a day or so.
Is this not necessarily a bad thing? I feel like it would be nice to search "CleanEdison Blog" and get the homepage.
The robots say: name="robots" content="noodp,noydir,noarchive" />
Is there anything I can do?
P.S. My posts that get picked up by larger entities generally get ranked lower than the offshoot even though I have a rel="canonical" tag. Anything I can do there?

OK so i actually took a minute to look at the site hehe
I see no glaring problem
I would change this to index, follow
name="robots" content="noodp,noydir,noarchive" />
sometimes Google will choose to noindex noarchived pages
Link to it from other sites and submit the URL in WMT

This is strange - I'd try fetch as googlebot from within webmaster tools - I checked it with screaming frog through a crawl from the homepage, and it's accessible to the bots, and your canonical and meta index tags all look good.
For that, you can try pinging pubsubhubbub and letting them know the content is yours - https://code.google.com/p/pubsubhubbub/
I'm sure you can find wordpress plugins to do this for you, like this one
Good luck!

Do i have too many 'follow' backlinks and am i being penalised by Google for it?
Hi all. I read on Moz recently that if a website has too large a percentage of 'follow' backlinks, that Google penalise the website because that is unnatural. IS this correct please? I ask because i have recently found that our own website, according to Moz, has 16,500 inbound links and they are ALL 'follow' links. These are all from independent 3rd parties and we havent commissioned any of them, so it is completely natural. URL if anyone cares is www.themosquito.co.uk Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers

Link from each page or only from homepage
In addition to my main site (A), I also have another website (B) (question/answer) type, which has over 400,000 indexed pages in Google. I'm trying to do linkbuilding for a.com: should I link from B to A ? should I place a link only on the homepage of B? should I place a link on homepage of B and each of the 400,000 pages to A? should place multiple links on B to A.com/subdirectories/ thank you.

What's your best link, and where is it from?
I'll start with ours, it's a BBC article which listed our website in the resources box, keyword rich 🙂
