First of all, I'll better forget about tons of links. Sometimes is better to have few but good quality links than a massive amount of crap pointing to one or more pages.
Normally the highest value is hidden where no one can go. If you manage getting in touch on a 1 by 1 basis with good quality sites you may achieve few links but with an high value. To achieve this you'll need really good content. Not only original but with data, research and which may be considered useful to someone (because they'll need to link to it).
This is not scalable in the short end but as time pass by you'll be expanding your list of contacts and achieve a group of quality sites which already knows you and who are happy to share your content.
For this purpose, if they don't want to link to your content, try to ask them to share it on their social profile, there may be someone who likes it and link or retweet it!
About searching for blogs, I use the google tab but you can also consider on find 5 hi valuable sites and then use the related command in g search

Blog.site.com vs site.com/blog
Which is better for SEO: blog.site.com or site.com/blog. In other words, is it better to have the blog running in a subdomain or as a director within the main site? Right now we are running as a subdomain, but want to be sure Google isn't considering that a separate site. The blog shows up separately on Google Analytics, which makes me think site.com/blog is better if for no other reason, it would give our domain greater traffic. Not sure if this matters, but some site info: our site is a sharing economy tool for renting your stuff we are running the blog on Wordpress blog traffic is about 5% of total traffic

Authorship for Company Blog -- What if Employee Leaves?
This question has been sort of asked before but I haven't found any concrete answers. We've never really had a consistent author on our company blog. We had an internal employee writing, and then we outsourced for a bit, and now we're moving back to an internal writer. With all the transientness of our authors, who should we be using for authorship? If the new writer leaves our company, they take all their AuthorRank with them. Would it make sense to post all content under one of the founders or maybe even a fictitious employee? Edit: Orrrr do we get the new author to create a separate G+ Profile tied to their company email address that we can retain control over even if they leave?

Is this good Blog SEO Exposure Practice?
When I create a new blog post for my site www.piolettilaw.com/blog in an effort to make sure it is seen by the most people the quickest I do the following: (1) link it to my google+ account https://plus.google.com/b/115145499443620475217/+PiolettiPiolettiAttorneysatLawEureka/posts (2) I then link it in virtually the same way on facebook (3) I ping it my blog directory piolettilaw.com/blog using ping-o-matic Is that a pretty good gameplan to follow when making new blog posts? Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions would be very welcomed. Thanks in advance, Joe

Blogging Software Compatible with asp.net server?
I’m in the works of setting up a company blog right now but I’m struggling to find a great blogging software (preferably free). I’d like to keep the blog in a folder, so energyacuity.com/blog, but I’ve been told I need to find a blogging service that is compatible with asp.net so we can download it (?) to our server…meaning wordpress is out of the question. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Blog at blogspot
Hi My website provider doesnt yet have the function to integrate blog under my domain name so the blog is at blogspot. Inevitably there will be quite some links going from blog to differnet pages on my site. I havent yet incorporated a clickable link from my homepage to blog. I am not sure wether to do this or not. Will this just reduce the value of the links going from the blog ? Thanks

Should I Have No Index, No Follow On Blog Category & Tag Pages?
At some point in the past I read or was told that No Index, No Follow tags on category and tag pages were a good thing on a standard WordPress blog in order to prevent duplicate content issues. Is this still true or was it ever true?
