Video Dictionary Site
-
Hi ,
Recently launched a video dictionary site - http://www.megavocab.com
With whatever I could learn of SEO , I included the transcript for the video in the page - http://www.megavocab.com/dictionary-definition-maladroit.html
But this makes the page look shabby (when compared to page like - http://www.megavocab.com/dictionary-definition-zealot.html) and the transcript per say does not help much to user ...
I am in a delimma whether to include the transcript or not ... please guide...
-
You have two choices.
-
Honor your design sense and drop the transcript.
-
Honor your SEO sense and include it.
The most dedicated designers know about SEO and figure out a way to honor both design and SEO. They are the ones who succeed and make a lot of money.
Figure out how to do both or be satisfied with failure or fractional success.
..... but don't hide the text from visitors. That will get your site killed in the search engines.
===========================
FYI.... the transcript is very useful. Lots of people prefer to read rather than listen. And lots of people who listen will search the transcript to read and reread the exact words for the most important part of the video. Lots of people print.
Don't assume that you understand the visitor. You probably don't - at least that is my experience.

why google never shows Coursera or Udemy videos in the SERP?
I work for a website pretty much like Coursera, and google never brings up our videos in the SERP. It has been indexed and Search Console URL Inspection tool identifies it as a video object. is it a technical issue or just google doesn't like to show us in the SERP? Is there any way to fix this?

YouTube Video Transcript misinterpreting audio as a swear word and putting in transcript
Hi I've just noticed a video uploaded to a clients youtube channel is misinterpreting a spoken word as a swear word, the F word :), will this have negative connotations ? could it result in video being considered 'adult content' ?? Any idea how to get this changed, should i report/flag it or will that likely make matters worse ? Or YT tech support email (chance would be a fine thing) ? Also how do you set a video as the channel trailer ? (i cant find any option to do this) Cheers Dan

Video Placement
HI all- I recently finished our first product video, about a candy called Sixlets. It's meant to be an educational video (as compared to linkbait) but of course I would love to get to seo benefit out of it. I am planning on putting the video on the individual product pages for each color sixlet to make sure people get the information they need. I am also planning on putting it on a page I will create that will house all of our videos. When I put together the video sitemap (via Wistia), I was really thinking of only including the video page, not the product pages, as as not to appear to be spammy. Does this make sense or am I going about this all wrong. Just want to make sure, as I am new to video. Thanks, Ken

What is the best way to include video transcripts on your pages?
I just posted a question as a comment on this blog post (http://www.audiotranscription.org/6-reasons-you-need-to-have-your-sites-videos-transcribed/comment-page-1/#comment-4311) and realized I probably should have asked the question here because it is really SEO-related. We are in the process of transcribing all of our videos. Can you someone recommend how best to post the transcript file on our product pages? For example, here's a product page that has a video review on it: http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/product/behringer-x32-digital-mixing-system. Would it be best to post a link to the transcript file or insert the iframe transcript file from DotSub.com (in that case wouldn't DotSub.com be getting credit for our original content?) or, should we just let our captions on the YouTube stream from there (which is what's happening right now)? Will Google still crawl the transcript if the only place it's available is on YouTube? If so, doesn't YouTube get credited for that content, and not our site? Even if we do post a trascript on the page, if it appeared at YouTube first, wouldn't YouTube get credit for the original version? We want credit for that content...just not sure how to get it? I understand that moving to Wistia.com would probably solve most of these issues. What I'm trying to figure out is how best to handle new transcripts for existing videos over at YouTube?

How to build links with really good S3 hosted video using JW Player
I have a number of really good quality videos that are embedded on my own site. Many are "how to" or "what to do if" type video guides with questions answered by experts. They were professionally shot. So that I could reap the full SEO benefit from the videos, I have them hosted via Amazon S3 and am using an embedded JW Player. We have a video sitemap and, as a result, most of the videos have already been indexed by Google and are showing up in Google video search as residing on our webpage. Now the real problem is how to get some link benefit from them. They should be viable and valuable link bait. My initial thought was to do a PR Web type press release with the video embedded in it. The problem with that is that you are limited to Youtube and Vimeo embedded video which defeats that purpose entirely. PR Newswire has different issues but the end result is the same, I can't embed those videos with them either. As far as I can tell, all I could do with a press release would be to link to the videos. Moreover, I don't even know that press releases would be that valuable in the post penguin world but the hope was that people would share the videos naturally. So, I put it to the experts. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get some link benefit from these videos? Any ideas at all? I am stumped. Any advice would be appreciated.
