2 links from 1 website -> 2 domains 1 hosting
-
Hello Guys,
I have a little question, i got 2 websites that are hosted on the same host.
Now i could get 2 links on one website to direct to each of the websites on the same host.
Does this effect my seo ranking, because the websites are on the same host?
Thank you for your advice!
Kind regards,

Glad I could help and give you something to think about - I would definitely think about 301 redirecting one site to the other site and push forward with building one great information resource for customers new and old..

I think you are right, in the past i bought the other website from a competitor.
Maybe it is a idea in the future to redirect one website to another and then move all content to one website.
Thank you very much for your time and help.
Really appreciate it!

No problem - can I ask why you have two separate sites not just one? The reason I ask is that if they are about the same thing then I would consider joining them together into one information resource as this will save on time in terms of admin work and it will also mean that your link profile and therefore domain authority is likely to higher and hence better rankings. The reason I say it will be better is because there will be links that one site gains and the other doesn't, but by joining them together they will both benefit from every link gained. Having two sites in a situation where they could just be one site will only dilute everything in my opinion. Just a suggestion...

Thank you very much for your fast reply to my question.
The websites are not linking to eachother, however they're content uses content that is about the same thing. The difference is like plasma television and lcd television.
I think i could better get a new host than risking to get punished by google right?

I don't see there being an issue if you are getting links to both of your sites from an independent site even if it is linking to your two sites that are on the same host. I have experienced similar without an issue. I take it that both your sites have different content and you have not tried to hide their relationship from Google? I also take it that you have linked the two but don't have excessive links pointing between them?
Going forward I would make sure that both sites have varied natural link profiles - I see there being a issue if you have two sites on the same host with almost identical link profiles with similar or the same anchor text...
If they are both in the same or similar niche and serving different purposes it is only natural that they will have some links that come from the same source.

Are followed links from these high authority domains any good?
Hi Mozzers, I have a link building question, in 2 parts. I am in the UK. We have a large local directory network over here which involves some high authority national news domains. Basically, you get a citation for free but if you go "featured" as well as the benefit of being returned top for keyword searches in the directories, buried under a tab on your page are deep links to your website, and they are followed. What are the risks/benefits of this? Are followed links from other high authority domains like Visual.ly and Behance worth it? They are easy to get and I've always believed an easy link usually isn't a good link. Thanks in advance!

Best five links to get first for a new website
I wondered if people had a list of the top five or ten links you should build for a new website in order to add some sense of authority. For example should a new website start with key social media websites such as Twitter, Google+ and Linkedin ? Or top level directories such as BOTW and DMOZ? Should they local for niche website directories in their location or vertical? If you had to choose five links - free or paid which would they be?

Has anyone changed domain after "unnatural link message" from Google?
We received a "unnatural" email from Google approx 6 months ago and have tried removing all links but it is proving to be near impossible - has anyone undergone a domain change and moved their sites to get rid of the penalty?

Why does my site only have 4 internal followed links/internal links?
When using Open Site Explorer my site is winning in many categories but lacking in others as compared to competitors. I intend to improve on this but am a little confused by the extremely low number of "internal followed links" and "internal links" at just 4. My competitors have much more than that. Does this mean links to the root domain? Total internal links? I have many internal links so I'm having a hard time figuring this one out. What four internal links are getting noticed? I just went through and changed all the links that went to index.html to link to the root domain at www.njlimocarservice.com as I just found a Q&A that indicates this was better. So as of Wed at 5:45 PM all my links to the homepage went to index.html and not the root which is no longer the case. Not sure if this matters. At the same time I also just put a 301 from index.html to redirect to www.njlimocarservice.com. Any help appreciated! h9QuF.png

Link Building strategy between domains I own?
I am in the somewhat unique position of owning and administering around 300 websites that each have their own unique domain names. We have a corporate website and then many individual websites for hospitals and nursing centers that we operate. My question is how would you recommend using these sites to build good incoming links between all the sites? Should I take every opportunity to find as many places to link from each site to all the other sites that are owned? Is there anything I should avoid that Google would penalize me for or discount the links all together? Sorry this is a such as long question... but wasn't sure where to start. Thanks!

Is there a way to optimize our other domains for our primary domain?
Hi guys, At the moment we have our main website that is at .com We have also bought all the other domains that are available, such as: org.uk, .jp, .it, .mobi, co.nz, co.za, com.au, .cn and .eu Is there a way we can make these domains work for us a bit more? Currently they all just redirect to .com. Would it be better to put a holding page with a link to us and then a redirect on?

Linking domains on same ip
I don't know if i can post a link in the question so if you google 800 appliance and do a little reaserch on them you will see that it has many links with same content linking to the main domain and to each other. They hosted on the same ip which from what i read doesn't supposed to help in ranking. I saw many nich websites like this with the same idea. What am i missing here...?
