Is it possible to aggregate news content?
-
Currently all of our content is produced internally, but I would like to expirement with aggregating 50% of our content from external publishers. The content wouldn't be full articles, but instead the excepts with a link back to the source.
Is there a way to aggregate content without being penalized? We are using wordpress.

Hi Ejovi,
If it were my site, I wouldn't do this. I've seen it done on plenty of sites, but at best I don't believe it provides a good user experience, and at worst you might put yourself at risk of a panda update.
If it were me, at the very least I would be writing a paragraph or two about why you're sharing the content with your visitors, and then proceed to quote and link to the original. This should avoid any issues since you're adding unique content to the page. In addition to adding at least a paragraph or two of unique content, I would also try and change the title of the page from what the original post was titled.
If you're looking to partially automate this process in Wordpress, you could use a RSS -> draft post plugin of some kind, and then manually add content to each draft post as it comes in. The more you can add, the less likely it is to be viewed as duplicate or thin content.
One final disclaimer - in theory this content won't perform as well for more competitive keywords. You'll usually get better results from the original content that you're producing. If your goal is to produce content that's going to perform well in search, you're better off sticking with mostly original content.

How important is exact keyword match in content for SEO in 2018?
Is it necessary to have the exact keyword which you are trying to rank for within the first sentence of the content on your web page? For example if we are selling men's shoes, is it ok to have have the meta title and h1 on page say men's shoes and just talk about shoes within the first sentence of the content on the page. Is it obvious to search engines that this page is selling men's shoes even if you don't have the word men's shoes in that first sentence or is it necessary to have the exact keywords which you are trying to rank for written there?

A good content calendar/organizer suggestion?
Does anyone have a good content calendar/organizer/software/etc to help plan delivering and pushing out content? I haven't ever used anything other than an actual calendar, and that doesn't seem to help all that much. Is there anything better out there? Any suggestions would be fantastic! Much appreciated, Ruben

Is this dulplicate content causing me problems
Hi, i am going to try and explain this as best as possible as i am not used to working with k2 that much. What i have as an example is a page which is here http://www.in2town.co.uk/Cheap-Flights-Ryanair-News This page is news about ryanair now because i am working in joomla and i am working with k2, and i am also making each landing page a front page, i am having problems. For people who do not use joomla i will explain. For the ryanair page which is a front page, i have to make a category and that category for all my content to go into is called ryaniar-news. Now i have the page above which is for ryanair news but the problem i have got is, because i have a category it brings up all the content as a blog format. so for example here is the category section in blog format. http://www.in2town.co.uk/news/ryaniar-news Now i have managed to make sure that the articles are not showing but it brings up the title of the pages and i am worried that this will be seen as duplicate content and will damage the main page of http://www.in2town.co.uk/Cheap-Flights-Ryanair-News I may have set everything up wrong i am not sure but if i have i would be glad if someone can tell me the right way to do it. I do not like the blog format and that is why i use a front page set up so i can have my layout the way i want it. Can anyone please explain if my set up will damage the main ryanair news page or what i need to do to sort it out please.

Promoting blog content
I've created a pinterest board, which kind of serves as a blog also as it tells people how they can save money on their heating bills this winter. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to promote it as a backlinking opportunity? Would it be good to also feature the content on our website? Guest blogging? Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thank you.

Duplicate Page Content & Rel-Canonicals
The SEO Moz duplicate page content tool lists the following URL's as having duplicate content: http://www.savvyboater.com/1988-newer-8-tooth-15-hp-honda-outboard-props.aspx http://www.savvyboater.com/1988-newer-8-tooth-15-hp-honda-outboard-props.aspx?sort=PriceAsc&pi=2 The second URL is the price sorter/second page of the category and contains the following rel-canonical: | http://www.savvyboater.com/1988-newer-8-tooth-15-hp-honda-outboard-props.aspx"> Are we using the rel-canonical correctly in this case? If so, why does it continue to show up as duplicate content in our SEO Moz report? There are over 1,000 URLS listed in the report with the exact same issue. |

What is the best practice for using the same content on two pages?
I have two websites in a very similar niche(s)...I have good unique content article that I would like to use on both sites because it adds value to the visitor experience.. Example: Science of Colors would be very useful for my seattle house painting paint colors page. I want to have content so they do not need to leave the site to navigate to second site. Would the identical content trigger a penalty or would it be crawled, ignored, and not indexed. Does having a rel=authorship on one site trump the site..Or is it a pile of BAD.

For a consumer facing blog, how often do you recommend updating content to develop good rankings? I understand that it's really dependent upon the niche/competition, but what are some best practices? Content is expensive. Thanks
