Should my client copy and paste his blog posts onto other professional sites?
-
I have a client who is an Attorney and participates in a couple of different Q and A legal sites. One of these legal sites is recommending to my client that he copy and paste his blog posts onto his profile page on the Q and A site.
I understand my client wanting to copy and paste his blog posts onto these sites, as it will not only get his content in front of a larger audience, but also lend credibility.
However, I've always heard that that could cause some duplicate content problems. Will my client's blog likely get penalized by google for copying and pasting his blog posts onto other relevant sites?

What if the user gave his original post a rel="canonical" tag?

Having your content on another site can be good from a brand awareness point of view and could send you useful referral traffic but you do run the risk of causing duplicate content issues.
If you wish to rank for your own content in SERPs then you run the risk of the Q&A site outranking you for your own content. Much depends on how valuable the exposure on the other site is to you.
You could try an implement a number of strategies to prevent problems including:
- Having the other site provide a link back to your original blog post (to signal you are the originator e.g 'This article first appeared...')
- Having the other site 'noindex' the pages where the blog posts are duplicated (unlikely that they will do it because they probably want to rank for it)
- Have the other site specify a cross-domain canonical to your content URL (again unlikely they will do it)
- Making sure the post is published on your site first before syndicating it to other sites.
The more sites you syndicate to the greater the risk, especially if they have greater authority than your site.

My Article on External Site
Good Morning, I was recently approached by an influencer in my industry who says that they noticed the quality of the content on my website's blog and they want to know if i would like to write an article for them to publish on their blog. The article will mention my products and how they would be helpful to the readers of this particular blog. I would like for some of you to take a look at the blog in question and tell me if you think this is a high quality blog that is worth me attempting to network with and possibly even obtain a link from. You can view the blog here: http://bit.ly/1JfmuRF I see nothing wrong with creating a brand new, high quality, relevant post and having it published on this blog - but i wanted to hear some of your opinions on these types of things. Thanks

I allow authority sites to republish my blog articles, which then outrank me
Hey everyone. This is my first question here, I apologize if it has been covered before. I have a health and nutrition blog [authority nutrition] that has been up since December 1st, 2012. I've managed to write quite a few viral articles which have given me a bunch of natural links and a domain authority of 49, which I think is pretty great for such a new site. Haven't done any link building and everything is 100% white hat. Getting good rankings and good traffic already, so I can't complain. My only (1st world) problem is that sometimes major authority sites (DA of 70-95) republish my content. I always say yes if they ask me first, but some of them just republish without even asking. My articles are always indexed on my blog before they get republished, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. These sites always clearly link to the original URL, but they often tend to outrank me for the keywords I was targeting in the articles. They tend to rank in the top 5, but my original article is nowhere to be found. I plan on continuing to allow these sites to republish as I get powerful links and good traffic from them, but it's a bit frustrating that I don't seem to get the credit as the original source. I've already set up Google Authorship, but it doesn't seem to help. Is there anything I can do to make sure Google recognizes my article as the original and chooses to rank my site instead of the authority site that simply republished my article?

Starting a Blog. New Domain vs integrated in a shop domain?
Hi everybody, We are going to start a blog for posting about topics related to our online shop and its products. Our question is... what is better in terms of SEO.... Creating it in a new domain and linking to our online store when neccessary, or integrating it in our actual online shop and take advantage of our visitors? Thank you very much in advance! Best Regards

The same phrase in many different pages of one site
Hi,
Content Development | | webg
Recently, I had to add the same phrase, with 15 words, nearly, in 700 posts in a same blog. In this phrase is written about the site ownership and eventually some links showing the posts sources. I thought in create a image, but it will be some variations in the source words (2 or 3), therefore I chose to use text format. I'd like to read some comments and opinions about this kind of insertion (the same phrase in many different pages of one site). For exemple, did you handle this in your site? Problems or benefits (mainly with indexing)? Special code to indicate in this case? Any threat?0 -
Best Way to Manage Multiple Blogs
Good Morning... I have multiple blogs that all relate to the same industry and products... The blogs all have unique content, they do not have duplicate content... Is there a way to share the information or link from one to the other without being seen as someone trying to manipulate anything? The goal is to keep each blog updated frequently, but I can only write so much unique content... can i somehow share the content? Please provide any feedback or advice... Thanks
