Can Hootsuite Really Monitor Competition Activity Across the Facebook, Linked & Twitter?
-
I'm going round and round in circles with this one as everytime I ask Hootsuite they tell me the same thing and it does not work so here we go...
I want to monitor another competitors social media activity. Specifically i want to see if they are active in Facebook, Twitter & Linked in.
But am i right in saying you can only monitor social activity of a competitor if you can connect Hootsuite to there social media account via a stream.
Put another way imagine Lacoste say - "Right give me a report on what Nike is doing on facebook". Is Hootsuite useless unless you can connect it to Nikes Favebook business page?
My misery is best explained by this url - http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc53/zymurgy_bucket/tracking-via-hootsuite-3jpg_zps2fa47469.jpg
If Hootsuite has this limitation then whats the point in Hootsuite promoting itself as a socail listening tool when as soon as you want to monitor a competitor you hit the proverbial brick wall.
Maybe I'm using the wrong tool & hootsuite is limited or I'm a bit thick & it can be done.
Any help welcome, I'm likely to be see jumping out of an office window in a town near you very very soon

Yup hootsuite isn't the right tool for you there.
You CAN use hootsuite to track hashtags and mentions on both Facebook and Twitter, but you can't track things like follower growth, interaction and other key metrics.
The tools you'd be looking for are things like socialbro, or fanpagekarma - they track this information and do competition comparisons.

Facebook Business Page Optimization: Awards Section
Hi everyone! I am looking to add my clients awards to the Facebook business page to add a little "pow" and give myself a "look what I did" talking point at my next meeting with them. I was comparing their page to the competition, and I noticed the competition has a lovely Awards section under their About. Do you know how/where this is hiding? My clients business page is rather new (a little over a year old), so I'm leaning towards this was an old feature that Facebook has not hidden from older pages. Anyone have any idea on where this is hiding? fXVWEwM

Facebook Business Pages Cannot Be Opened If You Allready Have an account
Buon pormeriggio from 24 degrees C slightly cloudy Wetherby UK 🙂 I want to open a facebook business page for a client but i understand it has to be attached to my personal facebook account. This is a pain, one day I'll leave the digital game which then presents a problem for the next administrator, I mean i can hardly pass arounf my facebook user name & pasword. Then to add to the conundrum i hear the fix is to regioster a business account sound good so far but then you cant do this if you have a personal account... err WTF! So my question is what do socail media agencies do when they open facebook business pages, surely they are not ties to personal accounts? Any insights welcome,

Facebook guidlines for NPO
I've been trying to help a local chapter of a non-profit organisation set up a Facebook page (for free!) but the idea has been refused at the national level. I think from a lack of understanding of what good Facebook can do for their communication because even the page created for the whole NPO is very low on fans and hardly ever updated. I've got plenty of examples of NGOs doing well on Facebook. But what I'd love to find an example of an NGOs doing good work on Facebook through local chapters and (in my dreams) get my hands on guideline document that explains to local chapters how they should go about creating the page in accordance with the NGOs. Anyone out there have good examples ? Thanks Neil

Linking Facebook - Twitter - Website - G+ Profiles
During a spectacular presentation at Seattle Interactive Conference, Rand discussed how Google is able to see linkage between different social networks and a Google profile. Outside of setting up your Twitter feed to send loads of messages to your Facebook fans (or vice versa), is there a best way to communicate the "linkage" between your social media profiles to the search engines? Eg - How do you best signal to Google that your Twitter, Facebook, G+ and your website are from the same entity?

Best strategy for optimizing Facebook annotations in Bing & Yahoo
My website has a page on Facebook with around 32K connections, these are not showing up in Bing's serp annotations because Bing is not associating my page with the website. Unsure why because I have closed loop links and used their Page Like Box to generate those 32K connections. I have Facebook insights and Bing webmaster tools authorized for the domain Does anyone know how I can ensure Bing makes that connection? If that's not possible, would it be more advantageous to drive likes to my sitewide domain or specific pages? My testing on Bing suggests the domain level like is most likely to trigger annotations, even for deeper pages with no specific likes. http://ministry-to-children.com/ http://www.facebook.com/MinistryToChildren

Buying Facebook Shares?
Would it be considered buying links if you asked your Facebook fan base to share a specific product page, and by doing so they will be entered to win a drawing? How would Google look at this? And could we expect a significant increase in rankings as a result? Or would it just be a temporary "what's trending?" boost you think?
