Rank drop in June
-
Since fixing a major duplicate content issue in Dec 2012, our traffic saw steady and dramatic growth through the summer. It has started to settle down now and rankings have started to decline. I have a bad feeling that something is wrong but for the life of me I cannot figure it out. Our Moz rank is pretty high but some of our biggest keywords have gone from #2 to #9 in a fairly short time period which makes me very nervous. I am not even sure where to look at this point.
Any suggestions are welcomed as I am kind of at a loss now but worry I am missing something basic.

I am not sure if anyone uses CloudFlare, but I think it may be to blame. After doing some research, I believe it may be hurting my rankings as it slow TTFB. Just took it off of my blog. I will let you know if things return to normal.

Sounds like the trust of the domain has been downgraded slightly. What are these big keywords your concerned about? I have a few golf blogs myself.
-
As for the Menus, I left of "golf" to save space and figured google can figure our we are golf as that word is used about a gazillion times in our site.
I would try Robert's suggestion. I would add that word a couple times in the key places that he suggests. Those are high caliber ammunition.... and cut back a few of the gazillion others.

Given the quality of site, make small changes over time. Do not go crazy out of fear of dropping.
These are the words of a confident and experienced General.
In one of my retail niches, in late June, I saw what appeared to me as rankings boosts for manufacturers and big brand sites.
Manufacturers moved up (probably because their name is mentioned repeatedly on every retail site), even though small specialty sites have greater product breadth (they sell all of the widgets made by several manufacturers) and they also have greater content depth than all of the manufacturers combined.
Big brands who sell one or two widgets moved up, even though lots of small expert sites have greater content area expertise, staff who are available by email or phone, and sell every widget made by every manufacturer.
My personal analysis is... there is nothing wrong with my site... something is wrong with Google. Carry on!

Thanks for the feedback. I feel like our on page SEO is pretty good. I recently decided to have index my categories (and have written unique descriptions for them). I always fear that I have done something wrong. I have a few posts that have ranked very well and deliver lots of traffic but have fallen off recently and I don't know why. Maybe it is just natural?
I never really can get my head around Canonical so I am in constant fear I have done something wrong. I trust Yoast SEO is handling it correctly.
As for the Menus, I left of "golf" to save space and figured google can figure our we are golf as that word is used about a gazillion times in our site.
I wish I had a more specific question but honestly I just am wondering why we went from 20% monthly traffic growth to slight decline even though our content has increased regularly.

Adam,
I went to your site and I think it is a good site and you are regularly posting, etc. (I thought I would see it static based on what you said; good job). You could use an H1 about Golf Equipment on the home page since that is what you seem to be about. I am not suggesting this, but at some point you may want to look at url structure re what you are. When you use terms like product-review as opposed to golf-product-reviews or golf-equipment-reviews, you are cheating yourself a bit. Same is true with Title Tags, etc. I don't like to see sites fail to take advantage of what they are.
In your menus have Golf Company Reviews, Improve Your Golf Game etc. as opposed to generics.
As to your dropping a bit, do not get too aggressive over it. Look at traffic and ranking and see if there is a corollary and which way it points. I would not be surprised to see you move up at this point even without change. Given the quality of site, make small changes over time. Do not go crazy out of fear of dropping.

Revenue Drops from Organic
Hi We've started to see steady drops in revenue since Jan 22nd each day & I can't seem to pinpoint why. We aren't seeing a drop in traffic for those pages, but we have seen ranking drops in other areas. The main revenue drops are coming from the homepage - it seems like a downwards trend - any ideas at how I can pinpoint the issue? https://www.key.co.uk/en/key

Wrong Pages Ranking
Good Afternoon We had an issue a while ago with the incorrect pages ranking in Google for some of our key terms. For example the page ranking for the term in Hotels in Spain was an individual information page for one particular hotel in Spain rather than the top level page which is optimised for "Hotels in Spain" The individual property page was ranking around 36-40 so we tightened up all the internal linking structure to ensure the term "Hotels in Spain" was pointing to the correct page and de-optimised the individual property page for the term. After a few weeks, everything seemed to be working and we were ranking top of second page for correct page however, ranking report today has reversed our good fortune and the incorrect page is ranking in a low position Any further suggestions or advise would be very much appreciated. Ideally, I don't want to remove the page that is ranking as it's still relevant for a search for that particular hotel

Broken images & Rankings
Hi I have seen a big drop in a keyword going from position 3 to out of the top 100. The only thing I can see that went wrong, was an issue with broken images - could this be the reason for the drop? Becky

Product Page rankings - How to boost?
Hi folks I am responsible for an e-commerce website. Our website is doing very well but I believe that our product pages should be ranking more highly than they currently are. When taking over my current role, it became clear that a number of changes would need to be made to try and boost the under performing product pages. Amongst other things I therefore implemented the following: New Product content - we have placed a massive focus on reworking all product content so that it is unique and offers value to the reader. The new content includes videos, images and text that is all keyword rich but (I hope) not seen as overly spammy. Duplicate content - the CMS was creating multiple versions of the same page - I addressed this by implementing 301 redirects and adding canonical links. This ensures there is now only 1 version of the page Parameters - I instructed Google to not index certain URLs containing specific parameters Internal links - I have tried to improve the number of links to the products from relevant key category pages My question is, although some of the changes have only been in place for a month, what else can I do to ensure that the product pages rank as highly as possible. As an e-commerce website with so many products it is very difficult to link to these product pages directly, so any tips or suggestions would be welcome! Here's an example of a product page link : http://www.directheatingsupplies.co.uk/pid_37440/100180/Worcester-Greenstar-29CDi-Classic-Gas-Combi-Boiler-7738100216-29-Cdi.aspx

Ranking drop for a particular page on a particular keyword
Take a look at centerforhealthysex.com/sex-addiction. For months we were ranking in the top 3 spots with this URL for "sex addiction los angeles", even reaching #1 for a while. Late last year we redesigned and developed the site to clean up the code and redirects. We also cleaned up the internal linking structure. For years we had been ranking on "sex addiction los angeles" for the home page ... bumping around the top 5 spots, but we wanted organic traffic to go to /sex-addiction. In the Fall, we saw overall site traffic rise steadily. We made few changes to the site and none to this page or links flowing back to the page once we had achieved strong ranking -- we didn't want to mess with a good thing. Then November 27th we started losing ranking on this term and a couple others. The good news is that we gained ranking on some high volume traffic terms so overall organic traffic is reasonably strong, BUT we're not ranking on the terms where we want to rank. Centerforhealthysex.com/sex-addiction is now nowhere to be found on the target search term despite fairly strong page rank. I tried redoing and resubmitting the site map, cleaning out some potentially duplicative content but to no avail. I see no issues, errors or warnings in Webmaster Tools. We have a few medium priority fixer-uppers in SEO Moz, but we've taken care of the majority of the big stuff. What am I not seeing? Thank you!

Sudden drop in ranks and traffic after migrating community website into main domain
Hi, We recently moved our community website (around 50K web pages) to our main domain. It now resides as a sub-domain on our main website. e.g. Before - we had www.mainwebsite.com and www.communitywebsite.com After - we have www.communitywebsite.mainwebsite.com This change took place on July 19th. After a week, we saw 16% drop in organic traffic to mainwebsite.com. Our ranks on most of the head keywords including brand keywords have dropped. We had created 301 redirects from pages on www.communitywebsite.com before this change was made. Has anybody seen this kind of impact when domains are merged? Should we expect that within 3-4 weeks Google will be able to re-index and re-rank all the pages? Is there anything else we could do to rectify the situation? Any feedback/suggestions are welcome!
