How long does it take to reindex the website
-
Generally speaking, how long does it take for Google to recrawl/reindex an (ecommerce) website?
After changing a number of product subcategories from 'noindex' back to 'index', I regenerated the sitemap and have fetched as Google in WMT.
This was a couple of weeks ago and no action yet.
Second question: Does Google treat these pages as if they're brand new? I 'noindexed' them back in April, and they were ranking ok then.
(I had noindexed them on the back of advice from my SEO, due to concerns about these pages being seen as duplicate content).
Help!

Now been reindexed. Thank you.

Thanks Chris, yes, that's a good point that Google still has knowledge of these pages. At least that's one positive. I guess I will need to be patient.
Thanks very much.

Coraltoes, in the case of sites and pages with minimal authority, it can certainly take a month or more URLs to show they've been updated in the index--it will happen eventually, though. Your newly removed-from-noindex pages will not be seen as new pages as the URLs, themselves, are already known to google and the noindex tag doesn't delete Google's knowledge or the crawling of them--it just eliminates the URL's visibility in the index.

How Does Google Handle Websites Like Craigslist
Hi, I am just eager to know that how Google handles the websites like craigslist.org because this is a classified website and also the same user we can expect to post with same title and description in many classified websites. So, this will cause many duplicate content issues and also thin content issues. So, how does Google treat this kind of websites. Thanks in Advance

Mobile sitemap needed for responsive website?
I've seen some older 2012 posts that discuss, but nothing recent given the new changes to emphasize mobile. For website that are already tested and verified as mobile responsive, is best practice to develop a mobile-specific sitemap and submit that as well? Or will any mobile crawlers spider the regular sitemap?

Cached version of website
Hi, Upon checking the text cache view of our home page, I noticed the mobile menu links are also coming in text format which looks weird. Please see: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:indialetsplay.com&biw=1366&bih=638&noj=1&strip=1 Our coder told us that he has created separate menu i.e. one version for the desktop and one for the mobile version. Anyway, the reason the coder created a different menu for mobile in order to support the design requirements. Does the duplicating the menu good for on page SEO? Give the best solution for handling it.

How long for a sitewide 301 to reindex?
Hey Gang, Finally joined the big boys here, excited to see what we all can do together. Here is my situation. I have been struggling since panda 1.0 on a particular site at www.burnworld.com. Over 2011 we figured out what the issues were with the content and went on a major cleanup. This seemed to help towards the end of the 2011. However further panda updates this year mainly April have again struck. This was after adding a wordpress blog to the site late 2011, so it was a mix of a traditional html site and a wordpress blog. Thinking that this could be an issue in May this year we transferred all the content over to wordpress only. We did keep the same linking strucutre using a permallink plugin to set specific url's. Forward to Panda 20. This wiped out all rankings and then we could not even rank for our own content. One site that syndicates our content is now ranking for our content instead of us, and many 'feed' sites that scrape out feeds also rank insead of us. Okay now to my original question. 2 weeks ago we pulled the plug and made the decision it may be best to start over on www.burnworld.net since the .net in the past was a blog on wordpress (which was shutdown earlier n 2012), but sat with about 5 pages of content until we did the 301. So today none of the pages are in the main index and I am wondering if doing the 301 might have been a mistake by pointing it to an existing site that never really ranked. Would it have been best to start on a new domain? How long have others seen before google puts the pages back in the main index? Would like to figure out the best action to take to get back into google's good graces. I'll keep this page updated so others with this issue can hopefully have a resource to turn to. BTW- nothing has chaned with Binghoo, rankings are all the same and they have updated the domain change properly.

Title elements too long - good for SEO?
As I was reviewing a client's web pages I noticed that most of the pages have titles that exceed the 70 characters limit. By looking in more details it seems that Google uses all keywords from this long titles. I wanted to reduce the titles under 70 characters but realised that I may cut some important keywords. By reducing to 70 characters, do you think I can damage the performance?.

If a redirecting URL has more value than the website should I move it?
Client has two website addresses: Website A is a redirect to Website B. It has one indexed page. But this is the URL being used in collateral. It has the majority of back links, and citations everywhere list Website A as the URL. Website B is where the actual website lives. Google recognizes and indexes the 80+ pages. This website has very few backlinks going to it. This setup does not seem good for SEO. Moreover, the analytics data is completely messed up because Website B shows that the biggest referral source is... you guessed it Website A. I'm thinking going forward, I should: Move all the content from Website B to Website A. Setup Website B to permanently 301 Redirect to Website A. Is that the best course of action?
