Is there a way to get my company to appear on its own map individually on mobile instead of with other companies?
-
For example: If I type in certain keywords for example like exterminating termites tucson on an apple iphone in google organic ranking it will appear with wildcat exterminating with its own individual map in the organic ranking section. How can my company get something like this?
Thanks.

Hi Nwext,
I want to be sure I understand what you are describing. I believe what you are describing is that only one local business is being shown as a local result for the term you are typing. There is an ongoing issue with this right now. Typically, Google shows 3-7 local results for local-type searches, within the organic results, but right now, there are a bunch of terms for which Google is oddly only showing a single organic result (termed a one box).
I recommend you read the following on this topic to see if it matches what you are experiencing:
http://blumenthals.com/blog/2013/09/28/hummingbird-local-knowledge-graph-shitty-search-results/
This rather lame phenomenon appears to have something to do with the Hummingbird update, and it is definitely not creating a good user experience. Just the other day, I was looking for a hotel in a major city, and Google would only show me a one box. Clearly, this does not represent the diversity of hotels that exist in the city. Not super on Google's part!
If this is not what you are describing and you are simply asking how businesses appear in the local pack of results, then the topic you want to study is Local SEO. It's quite a big subject! If you're just getting started, let me share an article I wrote for beginners: The Rudiments of Local SEO.
Happy reading!

If I am understanding your question correctly, you should be able to create a Google Plus page and fill out the address and verify the location. Google will send you a pin in the mail to verify.
Google plus has incorporated Google local into it...

Glossary/Terms Page - What is the best way?
We have a glossary section on our website with hundreds of terms. At the moment we have it split into letters, e.g. there one page with all the terms starting with A, another for B etc.. I am conscious that this is not the best way to do things as not all of these pages are being indexed, and the traffic we get to these pages is very low. Any suggestions on what would be the best way to improve this? The 2 ideas I have at the moment are Have every term on a separate page, but ensuring there is enough copy for that term Leave as is, but have the URL change once a user scrolls down the page. E.g. the first page would be www.website.com/glossary/a/term-1 then once the user scrolls past this terms and onto the next one the URL would change to www.website.com/glossary/a/term-2

How to get more keyword ideas
I am trying to get more keyword ideas for one of my project. For example the seed keyword is computer virus and the results which i get is keywords related to the phrase computer virus such as virus in computer , virus threats but actually i am trying to get search details on actual threat names or types of viruses and i expect output such as malware, trojan etc.. ( Currently using ad words keyword planner to fetch keyword data ) Is there any way to achieve this ? Even if i use "types of computer viruses" as seed keyword i am not getting the types of viruses people searching for instead i get keywords ideas such as computer viruses, computer threats etc... ? Can somebody suggest a solution ?

My company wants to set up some blogs - what's best practice in getting started from scratch?
My company wants to set up two or three blogs (on previously unused domains) with the idea being to disseminate good content that gets picked up in SERPs and acts as a lead generator, shows us to be authorities in our market, creates brand (or individual employee who's doing the blogging) awareness etc... From scratch, what are all the boxes that should be ticked to make this work from the outset? What are the must haves? With all the ideals in place, how long could it realistically take to make this work? What are some pitfalls to look out for? Any advice in general will be appreciated. Thanks, M

How to jumpstart the new parent company site?
A client operates four well known brands inside the industry, and each website has a relatively (for the industry) high amount of Domain authority across these four sites. They just formed a group of these four brands and launched a new website with no authority. What steps would you take to instantly grow the authority of the new site?

Getting out of Google's Penguin
Hi all, my site www.uniggardin.dk has lost major rankings on the searchengine google.dk. Went from rank #2-3 on important keywords to my site, and after the latest update most of my rankings have jumped to #12 - #20. This is so annoying, and I really have no idea what to do. Can it cause bad links to my site? In that case what will I have to do? Thanks in advance,

SEO Company that bills on results?
After having bad experiences with a few seo and ppc companies, I would like to find a company that operates on the premise that they should get paid for producing results instead just for signing a contract. I'm not thinking that any payment is contingent results but that a large portion of the billing is. I also know that it can take several months to get to an seo goal so I'm not taking a "you have one month to fix our site or we don't pay" approach. Is there a company out there that has enough confidence in their white-hat processes that they actually back their services with some sort of guarantee?

It appears that Googlebot Mobile will look for mobile redirects from the desktop site, but still use the SEO from the desktop site.
Is the above statement correct? I've read that its better to have different SEO titles & descriptions for mobile sites as users search differently on mobile devices. I've also read it's good to link build, keep text content on mobile sites etc to get the mobile site to rank. If I choose to not have titles & descriptions on my mobile site will Google just rank our desktop version & then redirect a user on a mobile device to our mobile site or should I be adding in titles & descriptions into the mobile site? Thanks so much for any help!
