Where to Look for a Standard 9-5 SEO Job
-
Hello,
I'm looking for a standard 20-30 hour a week SEO job. I'd like to make $30/hour. My resume is here.
So far I'm making a list of all the SEO companies in Boise, Idaho. Then I'm going to also call up the larger companies in my local area.
I'm interested in knowing how to best look for a job, and if there are any national companies where I could do work locally for.
Let me know what other information I can provide.

Hi Bob,
I'd highly recommend building out your profile on LinkedIn (if you haven't already) and then maybe even opting for the upgraded membership for a month or two. Lots and lots of SEO jobs there. Speaking from experience, the jobs posted on LinkedIn are far more "real" than jobs you'll find other places (like TheLadders).
If there's a company you're particularly interested in, call them directly. I cold called the company that I currently work for, they hadn't even advertised for an SEO, and guess what? They created a position for me Nifty huh?
One final suggestion, you're getting into a realm where working for an hourly wage is not really the best approach, IMHO (feel free to disagree). But, I think that if you are looking for a steady SEO job working for the same company or agency, you need to come up with your expected salary and benefits. Keep those close to your vest and don't put them on your resume. The right company will make the right offer Best of luck to you!

Indeed.com usually has quite a few listings in the SEO field.

I would recommend looking at Craigslist and other posts for people looking for an SEO position, and also talking to some of the other SEO companies in your town about working for them on a part-time, contract basis.
Many companies don't want to hire a full time employee, but might see a great need for someone 20 hours per month. Piece together a few of these, and you'll have this taken care of...
Hope this helps...

Does the Year according to the URL have an SEO impact
I ask to Godaddy if there is an SEO impact between buying a url for 1 year or 10 years. They said me that there is no impact, however, I read the historical URL has one. So, the question is : buying with 1 year and autorenew might be the right choice. Warm regards,

Redirecting International ccTLD affect SEO?
I've watched Rand's Whiteboard Friday video on How to Host and Where to Host for International Websites and read Gianluca's article on International SEO; however, I am still unable to find an answer or solution to this. ABC Company is a US based company with the website www.abcexample.com and plans to target people in Hong Kong. Therefore, they purchase .hk ccTLD. However, with the time restraint and budget limit, ABC Company is unable to create a completely new website under .hk ccTLD. Scenario 1: ABC Company plans to create different pages for each service offered in HK and 302 redirect .hk ccTLD blank service page to www.abcexample.com's same service page. Quesiton 1: Will this have the same benefit of creating a .hk website? Although ABC Company is redirecting, does the .hk ccTLD still tell Serach Engines that we are targeting people in Hong Kong? Will this solution harm or help with SEO with other search engines in Hong Kong? Scenario 2: ABC creates a /hk subdirectory under www.abcexample.com and have exactly same content in the same language as www.abcexample.com but use rel="alternate" hreflang="x" and use Webmaster to Geotarget Hong Kong. Question 2: By using rel="alternate" hreflang="x" and geotarget, will this avoid duplicate content if ABC Company has exact content in the /hk folder? Please let me know if my questions and scenarios are unclear. I understand that these are not best practices. Please advise the best way to work around this. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

SEO-contests like “hochgeschwindigkeitsSEO” worldwide?
In Germany people out of the SEO industry seem to love SEO contests - the latest one being to bring up the keyword “hochgeschwindigkeitsSEO” on Pos. 1 on Google until a set time (contest entry example here). There obviously is a price (newest iPhone) and a sponsor (Randolf Jorberg), but for the most part it's a contest which holds the Olympic thought: Being there just means most of it 🙂 So I was wondering: are there any other countries where such contests are being held? I have not heard of any examples and I am quite curious if any other SEO communites out there have something similar going on 🙂
