Hey man,
sorry i didnt catch what u mean the front-end dev and designer, so far i knew they're different job positions and porpuses, no?
Our competitors all have the design of last century...
So, probably we're going to try something much more cooler than them.
thanks for your comm

Dont use a designer to design it, use a front end developer
Design everything to be modular, with the intention that every thing can be tested once live. Design to test.

Thanks for your explain.

I worked for about 3 years in the mid 2000's on an ecommerce site with great SEO strengths. Enough can't be said about choosing the right ecommerce platform. There are quite a few to choose from, and choosing the wrong platform can create an uphill battle for SEO from the start. The platform we used was X-cart.. it was amazing and had a lot of features and add-ons that made SEO a breeze... the draw back is that it's very expensive. Magento IMO is a fantastic alternative to X-cart and fixes a lot of legacy issues that have crept up over time. If I were you, I would avoid zencart and oscommerce, but once again that is just my opinion.
As for straight up SEO tips
- organize URLs to display categories and products correctly.
- enable caching to speed up website load times
- dont forget the alt tags
- avoid dupe content issues (best advice would be to never copy and paste descriptions on anything, always rewrite)
- enable reviews
- send product feeds to amazon, google, etc.
a few other tips on usability
- imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. Fortune 500 companies have amazing budgets to figure out how to sell products, check out their pages for inspiration.
- look at popular ecommerce sites online, see what they do right. amazon, tigerdirect, victorias secret, etc. You'll find that simple is often the best way
- make the buying decision easy. depending on your product, make the price and purchase button green. that may be my best tip for you.. we saw about 15% higher conversions just by changing those two things.
- respond and interact with your customers ASAP a la woot.com
hope this helps.

- Place user reviews on your site. This should help.
- Ad David said, do not use product description which is duplicate.
- Category pages should have content on them rather than just images and links.
- Titles of webpages should be keyword focused.
- Build as many deep links as possible.
- Have an XML sitemap generator and submit the sitemap file to Google.
-
Thanks David... great points about the product descriptions. You do have to get creative to stand out!

Nice one, John.
Also specific to e-commerce sites, often they have the same product description copied from the manufacturer as thousands of other sites. Unique product descriptions and UGC, such as ratings and reviews can help make product pages unique.

We have gone through this experience and lived to tell the tale;
1. Choose a domain name with keyword included. Your client is unlikely to become the next google or amazon, therefore domain name is important for two reasons; user understanding and SEO friendliness. A perfect example is overstock.com. So, if your client is selling riding jackets then get a url such as ridingjackets.com or ridingjacketsshop.com or a hyphenated version at least. This will make your SEO work easier and also increase ctr on organic results.
2. Choose an SEO friendly ecommerce platform. We chose osCommerce which although it has some SEO modules was a mistake and for more reasons than just SEO. Magento is probably the best choice.
3. Follow good onsite practice, relevant title tags, urls, meta descriptions (ex SEO guru Danny Dover's SEO Secrets explains most of this). Avoid Duplicate content and write as much original material as you can. Seomoz crawl diagnostics is perfect to keep you right on these issues. Write good meta descriptions. Perhaps avoid meta keywords
4. Submit to Directories
5. Write Content, Build Relationships, Sell Product, Write Content, Build Relationships, Sell Product, Write Content, Build Relationships, Sell Product, Write Content, Build Relationships, Sell Product, Write Content, Build Relationships, Sell Product, Write Content, Build Relationships, Sell Product, Write Content, Build Relationships, Sell Product, Write Content, Build Relationships, Sell Product..............................

You're in the right place for SEO help... most folks in here really want to be here, so no worries about ego bashing.
What are you planning on using for a platform to develop the site?
Tricky areas to watch out for on e-commerce sites include handling of duplicate content on category (list) type pages vs. actual product pages, particularly if they are nested and search result pages. You will definitely want to use your rel="canonical" tags.
As for the domain name, it's certainly helpful to include keywords, but it's not the end of the world if you don't. You're really developing a brand. Think of ebay or twitter even. Clearly, no keywords to be found.
If you're talking about the rest of the URL, then yes, make sure you work with a platform that has good SEO support: search-engine friendly URLs, meta title & meta description support, and a place to enter descriptions for your images at the very least.
That's a start... certainly ask if you have other questions!

How do I manage my organic SEO efforts with multiple product descriptions/specifications???
Good Evening MOZ community I am currently working on a website my company has just launched. I am in charge of the entire commercial side of the business from pricing to brand management including all elements of digital marketing. First of all I should make it clear I am by no means an SEO expert. However I appreciate the importance of organic search and particularly on page optimization and no I need to build it into our site from the onset. My problem lies in that our website stocks roughly 2000 individual products (Tools and Engineering products) and I am struggling to overcome the following; 1. I do not have the time or resource to re-write original product descriptions and specifications for 2000+ products 2. How can I create healthy on page SEO without having to do this? (we are not able to provide budget to outsource these efforts at the moment) Will copying manufacturer descriptions cripple our SEO 3. Many product specifications need to be displayed exactly as they would on the original manufacturer websites. How can I include exact copies of these without being penalized by google for duplicating content? Essentially I realise the importance of on page SEO and want to build it into the site for the future but need to find a way of optimizing it with minimal time. I understand much of this is a big ask but any hints or tips you may have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Rob 🙂

Are internal and external footers on all pages of a large website detrimental to seo?
Hi, I am doing an seo clean up of our site - we have about 12 footers on the bottom of each page plus an internal site map including core keywords. Most footers go to internal sites and some go to external sites which are replicated on those external sites linking back to ours. (these sites are part of the same large company but are not related in any way) Are these bad from an seo ranking perspective? Do the look like spam? We get considerable traffic from one of the external footers that is replicated on their site so need to weigh up what the best option is whether to keep the traffic or to loose it as part of the seo clean up. thanks

E-Commerce Site - Duplicate Content
We run an e-commerce site with about 250,000 SKUs. Certain items, such as a micro USB car charger, will be applicable to several different phones. Example: http://www.wirelessemporium.com/p-165787-samsung-galaxy-proclaim-illusion-sch-i110-heavy-duty-car-charger.asp http://www.wirelessemporium.com/p-165856-sony-xperia-ion-4g-lte-att-heavy-duty-car-charger.asp As one can imagine with so many items, unique content for each item description page can be a challenge. What would be the best way to address this on a large scale?

Footer and SEO
Hi All... We have a client who wants to really minimize and simply their website. They want to remove some of the footer info. Obviously we do not want to remove any contact or address but they would like to remove the footer menu system. I have read various things about it NOT effecting SEO and that it is there for user navigation and usability. Thoughts? Opinions? zach

Give me your SEO Review
Hi Mozzers, I've been working on redesigning and revamping this site, http://www.canvaspaintings.com. Their domain and keyword are a match but not ranking #1. Some initial things I feel that needs to be changed are the links on the side and top bar, viewing the on page report, it does have a lot of links on every page. Trying to figure out how to remove them without having the top nav look empty. Previous category descriptions were written by possibly an article spinner or keyword stuffed writer. Need to start building more links, although PR5, it doesn't rank too well. Let me know your opinions and thoughts, I would love to hear them out. TMI!

How to avoid keyword stuffing on e-Commerce Category pages
Hi, I'm optimizing a large, consumer electronic e-commerce superstore. Based on client's choice of keywords, I'm using product category pages as my target urls. Because of the proprietary CMS structure, product names and titles, featured on my landing pages (product category pages) create a keyword overkill, affecting various ranking factors. For example, one of the target urls / landing pages, dedicated to a specific product category, mentions the keyword over 190 times because of so many product titles in the "body" section. Would inline "rel="canonical" help? If yes, what part of the website should it "canonize"? If rel="canonical" is not the answer, what strategies would you suggest? Thanks!

SEO Change/Version Control
Hi. Can anyone suggest apps that might be applied for SEO change/version control? I've tried using Excel and Word in the past but both fall short when dealing with multiple client sites. Nothing suitable pops up so far. Specifically I want to be able to log any on-page changes that might impact SEO for historical analysis and possible roll-back (manual) eg change date, page title, headings, url, anchor text, alt image txt, body copy etc. The ability to have one view that can be filtered in various ways including by client and by url would be ideal. Maybe this is something SEOmoz is considering for Pro campaign management? Surely there's demand... Thanks Andy
