Keyword and SERP Help Please
-
So I am curious about keyword placements etc.
My main question is:
So is whatever you search for in say Google must be the same in a website - to be found?
So say you search for plumbers in Colorado
Then you must have that exact, same phrase, in your website to be found?
or does Google know based on title tags and such that a page is about plumbers and they service Colorado?
I just want to make sure I am understanding how keywords work to be found.
I mean you can have Colorado plumbers and plumbers in Colorado. So its hard to figure out how to use keywords.
So a brief suggestion is greatly appreciated
Chris

If your site is new(er) and / or simply does not have much trust from search engines yet (do not rank well) I would strongly encourage you to use similar keywords on page as long as it does not compromise user experience. Ideally also get those keywords in your H1. As your site becomes more trusted you can get away with more (less keywords on page) and still rank. It sounds like you may have a site where I would not recommend such approach yet.

Today's search engines are fairly smart, and use a variety of signals to determine what a website is about. Just the other day, I was searching on Bing for Angry Birds Space JPL, as I was curious to see if Pasadena's Jet Propulsion laboratory had anything to say about the accuracy of the orbits in Angry Birds. Bing returned results that had JPL, but also highlighted (in the snippets in the SERPs) results with NASA.
Write naturally, and write for your reader. Would it sound really weird if you said out loud what you want to write on your page? The search engines can figure out related things fairly well and don't need it in quite such an exact order.

Are Pages that have High Traffic and High Bounce Rates helpful?
I work as a marketing director for a small law firm. I had some basic SEO experience prior to joining the firm but I'm still building my knowledge base. I'm working to take over where the previous web developer left off and improve the site. The previous firm had developed pages for the law firm featuring yearly car crash statistics, statistics for bike crashes, etc. These pages get a good amount of hits but people quickly jump off the pages, and most are not even located in a region where they could potentially become a client. I feel like they added the pages to show the client that there was an increase in search traffic. However, 100% of the traffic bounces quickly after viewing the statistics pages. Does a page that has a decent amount of hits, but doesn't lead to conversions and has a nearly 100% bounce rate worth keeping around? My thought is, I would like to remove these pages that do not actually attract potential clients and reduce the overall bounce rate of the site. I don't want to take actions to remove the page without throwing this question out to more experienced people.

Is it important to have a csv with high listing keywords?
I understand some digital marketing companies have a list of relevant keywords that are high ranking. I'm just curious why might they need it? I'm thinking about adapting this process into my companies marketing department, but I can't justify it if it is necessary. Could somebody care to explain why its important and an example when needed?

Moz is advising that a page has too many of the same keywords.
But this sub-category page includes products that have the keyword in the product name. Should I be concerned?

What the - SERP?
I have my site I made 5 days ago with 5 pages of unique content at 500 words each, no backlinks, and non-optimized on page SEO. I just check my SERP ranking for a competition of 49-50% at I am sitting at the bottom of page 1? Will I keep this rank or what?

Will a new domain name help rankings
If I purchase a domain name that links to my site with the new domain name being keyword specific....will that help boost rankings in Google? Reason I ask is that a particular website always ranks higher than ours because of their domain name (keyword specific). They are currently not even "open" and they still manage to rank high. I checked for links with the seomoz tools but did not see any high links etc.. Thanks!

Home Page Keyword Retargeting
Hi Guys! I have a question regarding the risk of **re-targeting **your homepage to another **keyword. ** To give a little background: I am working on a clients site that targets a keyword we initially thought during the keyword research phase, would be an appropriate target. What we found out is that it is not. Everything in analytics points to this keyword not performing well. We now want to re target the homepage to another keyword target. My questions are: How risky is it to do this given we have already done a fair amount of link building to the home page with anchor text from the initial keyword target? Will this look suspicious to google? What sort of things should we consider before moving forward with this change?
