Cannonical Links?
-
Hi guys,
I recently started using Moz Analytics's for my site and it has told me that the vast majority (perhaps all) of my pages have duplicate content because Google will be indexing the version both with and without www. in front of it as seperate domains.
I've done some research and have come across a few suggestions of what to do, but i'm not sure which to go with or how to actually implement it.
Any help, advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Bingo.
Good way to do it.

Hiya,
I recommend the following resource - https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/93633
it has some great guides on doing 301 redirects, you should also look into the preferred domain section. Other thing that can help are canonical links to www.
it all depends on your system and what you are comfortable with, i'm sure we can help you if you get a bit lost!
This response was more in depth but Moz decided to block the response!
Best of luck!

Hi Sam,
The best way to deal with this is to setup 301 redirecting in your .htaccess file, but this depends upon the platform you are using. You want to point all non-www pages to the www versions.
Something like this should do the job for you (replace my domain with yours).
//Rewrite to www
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^inetseo.co.uk[nc]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.inetseo.co.uk/$1 [r=301,nc]-Andy

Search Console Linking
Hey everyone! Quick question; there have been problems in the past with some of our accounts' Search Console integration becoming unlinked from Google Analytics without us knowing about it. I did some digging into Google Analytics to see if there was a way to create an alert for search queries dropping off, but there doesn't seem to be any options for Search Console alerts like there are for other integrations like Google Ads. Has anyone discovered a way to have an alert or some type of notification set up for when a Search Console integration is unlinked in Google Analytics or if search queries drop off significantly? I'd appreciate the help!

Using Canonicals on category or link pages
Hey, If a site has category or tag pages showing in search results for a particular keyword - sometimes higher than the page you would like to rank - could using canonical redirects on categories and tags be a solution? Thanks

Huge Decline in Links
Good Morning Everyone, Looking for some feedback as to why all of my Backlink metrics might be way down (as well as rankings)... Please see the details below that show some of the metrics from MOZ reports from August and from October. Does anyone know why these metrics are all so down? We have not done any link removal exercises or anything that would cause this drop --- please let me know if there is any insight any of you have as to what is the reason for this drop. How to Detect Links within PDFs
Hi All, I have a funny situation that I would like some advice on handling... There are a handful of domains that were created several years ago in support of an offline to online campaign. These domains are simply vanity domains that use an IFrame at 100% to show the content of another page. Essentially, the content of the sites I manage are embedded into the frame on the vanity URL. Since I do not monitor or have access to any analytics for the vanity URLs, is there a way to tell how others are discovering those vanity URLs? As stated above, they were used on direct mail flyers two years ago and never appeared online. However, I still get a good deal of traffic from them and cannot believe people have hung onto those flyers in such volume. I have used Open Site Explorer for the vanity URLs, which show no links existing anywhere online. I am wondering if the vanity URLs may exist in pdf lists of local businesses that match my category, etc. Is there any way to tell how traffic finds those vanity URLs without analytics or discovered links through link profiling tools?

Difference in incoming links between web masters tool and moz
Why are incoming links to my site in Google Webmasters tools totally different then in MOZ? Which is correct? According to Google as of this week I have hundreds of links coming from linkarena (dot) com (Never heard) Does any one know who they are or if they are hurting me? I definitely did not pay them to put me on there. It looks like a German site. Thank you.

Do Google Analytics filters affect link building?
We recently made a few link wheels for specific product pages. We've been having great results with all of the wheels except for one. The one we are having issues with is the only link that we were using a Google Analytics filter on; it looks like this http://domain.com/page.htm?zSource=Specific Keyword%tracking My question is does Google ignore links that are obviously utilizing their analyitcs custom filters? We're doing some more testing to try to find out if it truly is the link or if the wheel is a bad one. There are so many things that could go wrong but with so many of our link wheels working well, I wonder if the filters are what is causing such results.
