Downsides of Squarespace v WooCommerce
-
Hello Mozzers! I'm thinking of using either Squarespace or WooCommerce for an ecommerce website. WooCommerce is great - I've used it before... how flexible is Squarespace from an SEO perspective, compared to WooCommerce? Thanks in advance, Luke
-
Many thanks for your response Dennis - you make a lot of sense - speed is so important and the SS sites I've browsed weren't doing particularly well on that side of things.

Wordpress based will always be more flexible. I havent used SS for a year though. I've seen all their recent changes and how they've taken the right steps to better SEO but I would still lean on Wordpress/Magento. If you have a few products, then you might want to try out SS. If you have experience with Wordpress in the past, then jump on to that but be sure you have a fast server. If you have a LOT of products, go with magento

Potential downside of removing past years' calendar events
hi there. my website is for a school. We have several calendars for athletic events, school events, etc. there are thousands of events each year that link to pages for each event. the URLs/pages are generated dynamically, and the urls and pages are very similar from year to year, so we're being penalized for duplicate content. I can delete past years events in bulk, but there's no way to redirect them in bulk. am i taking a big chance by deleting events that occurred prior to 1/1/2019?

I'm setting up my online store in wordpress/woocommerce and want to avoid duplicate content.
Hi Mozers, Apparently I'm using unique content in the short description area and it displays on the pages next to the product photo which is great how it is, but adding informational description repeating on every product page going to hurt us in SEO? A. See here an actual product - (flagged for thin content in OSE)

Canoncial tag for Similar Product Descriptions on Woocommerce
I'm looking for advice on how to handle my product description pages for my website vinylabs.com. The website sells vinyl wrap for cars and each color of vinyl (89 variations) has it's own product page. The product descriptions will all be identical except for the color description and code. All of our competitors have an identical layout, different pages for each color, and it fits the product so I don't want to depart from featuring each color as it's own page. Here is my dilemma. I don't want to get penalized for duplicate content, however I do want individual color codes to be searchable on google. For example if you google 3M vinyl wrap M203 you'll get individual pages from the manufacturer and our competitors featuring just that color. I want our website to show up as well. I was thinking about creating a single page that has selectable colors and sizes and then using the canonical tag to point all of my individual color code pages to that single page. However won't that hurt the ability for my individual color code pages to show in search? None of my competitors are using the canonical tag to redirect to a different page. Any advice welcome! Thank you for your time.

Best SEO url woocommerce, what to do?
Hi! Today we have our product categories indexed (by misstake) and for one of our desired keywords, a category have the nr 1 rank. By misstake, we didnt set nofollow, noindex on our categories, just tags, archives etc. We are now migrating to from Ithemes Exchange to Woocommerce and ime looking on improving our SEO urls for the categories. For keyword "Key1" we rank with this url: http://site/product-category/Key1. The seo meta title and description where untouched when we launched the site last spring so it doesnt look so good.. The plan is to stripe out product-category and instead ad some description ( i have a newly written text of 95 words, 519 letters without space with they keyword precent 5 times in a natural way ) to that particular category and have the url as following: http://site/key1 and then have a 301 redirect for the old http://site/product-category/Key1. What do you think of this? What shall i consider? on the right track? Grateful for any help! // Jonas

What is the downside with having too long of a title tag?
With Google placing so much relevance on title tags, it seems to help if you mention local cities within your title tag. I'm wondering if the positive of having more keywords in a title tag outweighs the negative of having too long of one?
