Server location - Web Hosting
-
Does it matter where your web hosts servers are located? For example you're a UK based company and your web hosts servers are in Belgium. Does this effect rankings ?
-
Google selects the location for SERPs based on the IP address of the searcher. The only detriment to having your site hosted in another country would be if they are in what could be considered spammy locations. For example, my company is in Wisconsin, my server is hosted in California. No harm no foul. If my server were hosted out of India, it would be considered unnatural and spammy. I think UK to Belgium is reasonable and wouldn't be considered unnatural.

Yes, it is a factor in which countries SERPs you show in (from Matt Cutt's video).

Will changing my host affect my rankings
Were moving our site from a UK server to an Australian server to benefit from hosting our site in our home country. The domain name is the same, the template and files are all the same so will we lose rankings at all when the website is moved? I plan on leaving the old website up there until the new website is cached. What considerations should we think of before we migrate? Cheers

Redirecting users based on location
My site is available in EN, DE, SW, SP, FR, IT, CH and JP. However, the EN sites ranks much better than the other languages, and even when searching in another language the EN homepage is normally the result that appears. Would it be worthwhile to automatically redirect users to the site in the same language they are searching in or country they are searching from? If so, how do I go about this? Thanks!

Location Specific Reporting
Hi, We run a site which has slightly different versions targeted to different countries/ language groups and have just recently re-launched the site for two of the locations we currently target. Is there any way of specifically restricting SEOMoz reporting to a particular section of the site (perhaps based on URL structure) so that we can investigate the performance of the new sites without interference from the old sites? Thanks!
