Creating a Landing Page
-
Ok, ,quick question. A client is launching a new product.
Would you recommend creating a landing page (off main domain) such as:
productname.com ---- and this page would have product information and would be a landing page for a possible PPC campaign. A link would be included to their main website to purchase product.
or
would you include the new product on their main website (companysite.com) in the appropriate product category?
Is there any benefits to having it on it's own domain? SEO benefits?

Thanks Calin - yes, these bulletpoints are fantastic to consider, thanks for adding this!

Hi,
If you were to include the landing page on your existing URL like this...
It will receive ranking benefits from the website's existing authority whereas the new URL is starting from scratch. Building authority takes time, and you are likely better served, as Patrick mentioned, to include the page on your existing URL.
With that being said, a few reasons I can think of for splitting the product onto its own URL are
- if it truly didn't fit into your website's existing architecture
- if you want to brand it as a stand alone product
- if you want the ranking benefits of an exact match domain
Cheers,

Hi there
I would build a static product page out on the website instead of a landing page. This way you can link to the new product page via the homepage in some way and utilize email, social, and doing some paid to the new product page. So the URL would look like this...
https://www.yourwebsite.com/category/new-product
The reason being - you want to build equity to that new product page and get eyes on it. Have a URL structure that you will be happy with, with a nice and clean product page, and link to it in a way that gets both search equity and eyes on it. If you develop a landing page, you're still eventually going to have to build a static page for the product anyway, so you're putting more time and effort in than you need to.
You should also look into product schema to help crawlers quickly digest the information about the products on your site, which could potentially help you in the SERPs.
Does this all make sense? Hope this helps - good luck!

I think it really depends on your preference, time, budget, goals, and product. Personally, I would build the landing page inside of my current web page. If you feel this product is going to be the company's main focus then I would consider doing a separate landing page, but the benefits of having everything on one domain outweigh a landing page in almost every aspect.
The benefit to having the product on its own domain is that your site can be 100% tailored toward that specific product and it might convert better. That being said, you also have to manage another website and build a new community. This is going to take some resources to accomplish.
I tend to look at websites that are building a ton of landing pages internally and are killing it. Hubspot is a great example. Although they don't have physical products, they have a ton of different landing pages.internally that help with their overall SEO and converts. Take a look at unbounce.com and leadpages.net for more info. Good luck

Over Optimised Magento Pages
We are working on a clients Magento site and we've added new copy which has a decent keyword density which is in line with best practice. When we run it through Moz we are getting a Key Word Stuffing alert saying the page has 27 keywords, where we can only see about 11. This is the page https://www.greatbeanbags.com/bean-bag-cushions The client is pushing back saying the page must have already been optimised before as our new copy has triggered the stuffing alert. But my guess is the page was already stuffed but buy some Magento code we can't see. Any ideas? #magento #Keyworddensity

Will SEO Blogs Divert Traffic from Main Web pages using same keywords?
Our company has drafted several SEO blogs using certain keywords. If we post these SEO blogs to our website and social media channels , and the blog keywords are also used on our main website pages, will the blogs divert or dilute traffic to our main web pages? Thank you for your expertise and insights in advance.

Pages and categories with the same name?
I manage a wordpress based site that is needing to under go a site architecture overhaul. the site is christ.org and one of the problems is it has 89 pages but really only 4 are navigatable (not a word apparently). The site also has over 400 posts so categories and parent pages are both definitely needed. One option is I convert a lot of the pages into posts, but would that happen to break any links pointing to those pages turned posts? Or another option is to keep the pages and posts and create a bunch of subpages, then I would most likely end up with similarly named categories and top level pages. I would guess the name of the category needs to be unique from page titles right? And not just unique but very much differentiated than any page title (not posts but page titles). Maybe what I need to do is convert the pages that are not really unique into posts and put them in the category it fits with. And then keep those that are unique as top level pages. The architecture needs some serious work I think 🙂 Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How to optimize content pages with ecommerce?
Some content pages act as buyers guides for certain products for example Used Paddle Boards for Sale - http://www.islesurfboards.com/used-paddle-boards-for-sale.aspx this is a content page that gets huge amount of traffic and is pure content with no products on the page, but we also have a ecommerce section of the site that is Used Paddle Boards for Sale -http://www.islesurfboards.com/buy-used-paddle-boards-for-sale.aspx however this page just has a small paragraph and all the ecommerce product related to this section on the page. The content only page above gets all the traffic and rank and then they click over to the actual ecomm section wiht the products from a link on that page. Should i merge these two together so its just one page and put the content on the ecom page? If i do all the content with push the ecommerce products down which is not good so what does anyone recommend as a best practice? Also will this mess up the content pages rank is i merge them assuming i redirect? or Keep them seperate like i have with a content page regarding "used paddle boards for sale" and an ecommerce page that sells acutal "used paddle boards for sale"

How does one write different pages of their website that are very similar in nature with using too much duplicate content?
We are a service provider and we have different links on our website to each of our services. The problem is the content that we would have for each is very similar. How can I ensure that it is not deemed duplicate content and ranked poorly because of it. Thanks

Wordpress Duplicate Pages/ URL's - Help !
Hi guys, I have been running SEOMoz for just over a month and slowly cleaning up one of my Wordpress Blogs. While going through the crawl reports I have noticed that I have duplicate pages showing on the crawl. For example, the main post would be; www.xxxxx.com/blog/post-title Then I see another URL which would be; **www.xxxx.com/blog/page/59 ** When I click on either URL it goes back to the actual post title URL. What's with these page URL's ? Isn't these two URL's showing duplicate content to the search engines ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
