How do I get compete.com to track my data
-
Is there a tracking code for them? I cannot find a way to get them to track my site data. I know it seems trivial, but it is sadly a big tool in my industry so I need to get my data on their site
-
I get more than enough to show on their data. I see data for sites that I know with 100% certainty gets far less than me. The support desk does not seem to be any help. I can also read their generic faq's. But the response is not accurate or fixing the issue.

If you are wondering why your company site data isn't showing up in Compete, it's likely too small a sample-size. I'm not sure about your business model or position in the industry, but it seems like you need more daily traffic et al. to be showing up in their data sets.
Here is their response from their FAQ:
Why don't you report on metrics for my site?
To report metrics for a site, we must have a large enough sample in our panel to normalize the data to the total population. If we are unable to report metrics for your site, it likely means we do not have statistically relevant data with which to project traffic. In those instances, it’s even more important to get insights into your competitors and their online metrics. The valuable insights you'll gain by examining your competitive set and their online strategies will allow you to better position your organization to drive online marketing impact.

How can I overwrite previously imported cost data in Google Analytics?
I choose the overwrite option but it keeps adding the costs to the existing costs. When i select that radio button and click done, that option does not appear on the summary screen. That section next to Import Behavior is blank.

Cross-domain / subdomain tracking in GA?
Hi there, My client has a site website.com and a booking engine, booking.website.com They are currently tracking the main site and the booking subdomain as two separate properties in the same GA account. The issue is we can't see where users are originating on the subdomain property; it's all being counted as referral. My understanding is we need to set up subdomain tracking using Google Tag Manager in order for GA to pass the user data between the two subdomains. This is fine, except for this one line I am reading on Google's guide to cross-domain tracking: Subdomains If you have updated your tracking code to analytics.js, then no additional configuration is required to track subdomains. You can use cross domain tracking to collect data from a primary domain, like www.example.com, and a subdomain, like www.subdomain.example.com, in a single Analytics account property. That last line makes it sound like we should be using cross-domain tracking for this purpose. Are we correct in setting up subdomain tracking and NOT cross-domain tracking to be able to track users across subdomains on the same domain?

Is it possible to import data from an old Google Analytics profile to a new Google Analytics profile?
We have encountered a situation where a client's old SEO firm is refusing to grant us Admin access to our client's existing GA account. For security purposes (so the other SEO firm doesn't delete the existing GA profile) we have started a new Google Analytics profile. Again we do have access to the data in the old account. Is it possible to migrate this old data over (if we just have user access)? Thanks for the help

GA: Want to have a profile tracking only 3 out of 4 subdomains only?
Hi Mozzers, I would like to track 3 out of 4 subdomains in a profile on GA. I have 4 subdomains: www.example.com m.example.com subdomain1.example.com subdomain2.example.com I would like to create a profile with only the first 3 subdomains without subdomain2.example.com. Can someone tell me what to do to get this? I also have a profile called combined profile that includes all of them with this filter(attached). Can I add another filter to this profile? if it is the case what should I add and how? if not, creating another profile would be the only other way, right? if it is the case how can I filter it to get Thanks a lot! u4HxY06

Goal tracking in Google Analytics
Hi folks I read from various sources that if you setup goals in Google Analytics each of these goals can only be fulfilled once per visit. Also some sources suggesting that only one goal from each goal group can be fulfilled per visit. On our site we have a goal for external links since this provides value to partners. Some users do open an external link in a new tab, then come back to the main site. Any further goal completions would then not get tracked. Since we apply a result based payment model for our work this means we are literally loosing money. Anyone has official info from Google on this? Can it be configured? How long is a visit? Thanks a million and have a great day. Fredrik

Campaigns: How to Decide What to Track?
Hi There! I'm new to SEOMoz, but not completely new to SEO. A bit of background: 9 year old content site, medium traffic (low 7 figures unique visitors yearly) with about 85% coming from SE traffic. (It was 75% but Panda seems to have bumped that up.) I've created this with zero keyword research. I just built a site that I would have liked to have found online. It's a weight loss/fitness website with tools, calculators and articles. I'm going to be working harder on getting traffic from other sources, but I signed up here because I want to make sure I'm taking full advantage of my site when it comes to SEO. Having said that, I'm at a loss as to what to do with a campaign. My site is huge, with thousands of pages and keywords. I started a campaign, threw in a few keywords and some competitors just to get started, but this seems so...directionless. How do I figure out what I want to analyze? Thanks! Suzanne
