A customer made a duplicate google plus page, now what?
-
A customer of mine went to a business conference about a year ago and one of the speakers told them of the importance of having an optimized google plus page. Instead of talking to me about it, they went ahead and created a brand new page and began posting content and reviews to it. I've contacted google and they've told me they deleted the first page, but it still always shows up in the local search results even though the new page has much more content on it.
Has anyone dealt with a similar situation that could help me? I have them ranking #2 organic, but barely showing up local...

Hi Jag!
Thanks for the links. Here's what I see:
-
Moz Check Listing is surfacing the filled out page as the main Google+ Local listing (https://plus.google.com/u/0/+MasterKhechensMartialArtsAcademyWilliamsville/about) and the less filled out page (https://plus.google.com/116492650865307526395/about?hl=en-US) as a duplicate. So, this tool is being shown the better page as main by Google.
-
Going to Google and searching for 'Master Khechen’s Martial Arts Academy Williamsville' I am being shown the better page - not the less-filled out page in the 3-pack: https://www.google.com/search?q=Master+Khechen’s+Martial+Arts+Academy&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8#q=Master+Khechen’s+Martial+Arts+Academy+Williamsville
So for this branded/city search, I am seeing what I believe is your desired page - not the thinner duplicate.
- Searching Google for 'martial arts williamsville ny' the business isn't coming up in the 5-pack, but clicking on the maps results from there, they are coming up further down in the map pack. Clicking the 'be the first to review' link on that result, I am being taken to the thinner, duplicate Google+ Local page. So, that's a problem. Less users are likely to go through all these steps, but it is indicative of the problem and confusion in Google's system being caused by the duplicate listing. Fortunately, the duplicate is unclaimed, which minimizes the potential for penalties resulting from it, but it's still not good that it exists.
So 2 questions here:
-
Are both pages showing up in the client's Google My Business dash or is only the good one showing up there at this point?
-
Have you tried contacting Google again (https://support.google.com/business/#topic=4540083&contact=1)? Show them the above data to explain how the duplicate is still appearing.

Hi Jag,
Are you able to share the URLs for the 2 Google+ Local pages here? It would help to be able to to see them directly.

Our website ranks first in SERP but is not listed in google local list
Hi, Our website is currently (and has been) ranking 1st for a number of keywords but is not listed under the Google Local list. I have double check that all the (physical) info is correct. I do not have a duplicate page. When I order the Google Local results in rating order, we then appear on top! Has anyone come across such a situation and would you have tips on how to solve this issue? Thanks!

How can we better control GMB photos on Google SERPs?
Has anyone had luck choosing photos to display on SERPs for their Google My Business profile pages? Recently, Google has been overriding our photo choices and they've picked some terrible, user-submitted photos to show on SERPs. Our clients are understandably upset about this and we've tried flagging photos which works only a small % of the time. When we call Google they say they can luckily remove individual photos, but this isn't too scalable across dozens of clients we work with. How can we have better control over the photos that show on GMB listings? Any suggestions or best practices would be appreciated! Attached is an example of one we have showing on SERPs for a dealer. Google maps SEO
We rank #1 for our main keyword and location, however, the top 3 google maps listing doesn't include us. We have more reviews than any of our local competitors (they have around 1/2, we have 25 all 5*) & we only seem to appear as an ad on maps listings. What can we do to resolve this?

Have You Used Twitter For Google My Business Support?
Hey Everybody! If you've been doing Local for some years, chances are, you remember those dark days in the past when there was zero Google local support. You could post something in their forum, but that was pretty much your only hope. It was an absolutely amazing day when they finally rolled out phone support, and I'm still very grateful that this exists, but just this week, I learned about another way to contact support. Joy Hawkins has surfaced a Twitter account you can tweet when in need of assistance and she says its not only really fast, but that the help is US-based (which would be great for US users). I'd never heard of this before and wondered if any of you have tried it, and what response times and overall satisfaction you experienced with it. If you've not tried it yet and are experiencing a local client conundrum, maybe give it a try and let our community here know how it went?

Google+ Local and a Google+ Company Page
I have an established G+ company page but also want a G+ Local listing in order to appear on Google maps. The company does have a physical address, phone number etc. to qualify for a G+ Local listing. No current local listing exists to claim. Should I: a) Switch the currrent G+ company page to be a G+ Local page; or b) Create a new G+ Local page and keep the G+ company page; or c) Ignore G+ Local and create the listing through Google Places Thanks
