Moz crawler only crawls one page?!
-
Hello there,
I'm using Moz for a while and I'm very pleased with the tool and community. But for the first time I encountered a problem. We are trying to run a crawler for a client's website but only one page (only the homepage) was crawled.
We tried to do a test on a more detailed level (maybe there is something wrong with the homepage). My campaign test's crawl came back for the Producten folder (level deeper than homepage), and it was also only a 1 page crawl with a 200 status. I did look at the robots.txt file now, and it is very restrictive, but there is nothing that I can clearly see that would explain why the crawl isn't working.
Hopefully someone can point us at the right direction.
Thanks in advance,
Jeremy

Hey Jeremy,
I took a look at your campaign and it looks like Lynn's suggestion that Javascript may be blocking the crawl is correct. Unfortunately, our crawler isn't sophisticated enough to parse Javascript and all of the links from the homepage are hidden within the Javascript navigation so we aren't able to find them to crawl past the homepage. I'm afraid it looks like our crawler isn't compatible with this particular site.
I apologize for the inconvenience this causes! Please let me know if I can help you with anything further.

Thanks!!! I will take a look at the dev blog post

Hi,
It can happen for a number of reasons, in my experience usually due to either unintentional blocking of the page from crawling or from being a JavaScript heavy/only site which doesn't allow content to be easily read by the moz crawler. Check out this dev blog post for a rundown on most issues and solutions. Hope it helps!

MOZ Staff: Timeline for supporting SNI?
We have moved our blog to Amazon Web Services, and our website is soon to follow. For better or worse, AWS uses SNI, which MOZ doesn't currently support. Here are some recent forum posts about it: https://mza.seotoolninja.com/community/q/804-server-error-crawling-https https://mza.seotoolninja.com/community/q/804-https-ssl-error This makes MOZ much, much less useful to me. MOZ staff, you have a timeline for when you'll implement support for SNI?

The widget embeds this page - https://mozcast.com/embed/yesterday/horizontal Which comes up with a security issue when visited in Chrome Do I need to wait for Moz to fix? Kind Regards Liam

Moz Crawler URL paramaters & duplicate content
Hi all, this is my first post on Moz Q&A 🙂 Questions: Does the Moz Crawler take into account rel="canonical" for search results pages with sorting / filtering URL parameters? How much time does it take for an issue to disappear from the issues list after it's been corrected? Does it come op in the next weekly report? I'm asking because the crawler is reporting 50k+ pages crawled, when in reality, this number should be closer to 1000. All pages with query parameters have the correct canonical tag pointing to the root URL, so I'm wondering whether I need to noindex the other pages for the crawler to report correct data?: Original (canonical URL): DOMAIN.COM/charters/search/mx/BS?search_location=cabo-san-lucas Filter active URL: DOMAIN.COM/charters/search/mx/BS?search_location=cabo-san-lucas&booking_date=&booking_days=1&booking_persons=1&priceFilter%5B%5D=0%2C500&includedPriceFilter%5B%5D=drinks-soft Also, if noindex is the only solution, will it impact the ranking of the pages involved? Note: Google and Bing are semi-successful in reporting index page count, each reporting around 2.5k result pages when using the site:DOMAIN.com query. The rel canonical tag was missing for a short period of time about 4 weeks ago, but since fixing the issue these pages still haven't been deindexed. Appreciate any suggestions regarding Moz Crawler & Google / Bing index count!

Issues adding keywords to MOZ analytics
Hi All 🙂 I've started a couple of campaigns in MOZ Analytics, one accepts keywords the other looks like it does but doesn't actually add them.. I'm pasting a group of keywords, about 30, all separated with comma's. Doing exactly the same to one account that congratulated me straight away and added them to the list below, yay! The other shows the spinning wheel for a few seconds and does nothing further, I've waited a good 24 hours and they keywords have not appeared. Any help appreciated! Thanks 🙂
