Duplicate content nightmare
-
Hey Moz Community
I ran a crawl test, and there is a lot of duplicate content but I cannot work out why. It seems that when I publish a post secondary urls are being created depending on some tags and categories. Or at least, that is what it looks like. I don't know why this is happening, nor do I know if I need to do anything about it.
Help? Please.

Wow, thank you very much. I will read up on that link.

Hey Todd. MobileDay.com is the website and the crawl test was using the Moz tool. Crawled the entire domain.

Hey,
I took a peak and it looks like most of your duplicate content is coming from /tag/ issues in Wordpress. Luckily, this is very easy to solve, especially since you have Yoast SEO plugin in place.
- Log into wordpress admin for your site.
- Click on the Yoast SEO plugin in the left-hand navigation
- Choose "Titles and Meta"
- Choose "Taxonomies"
- Click "noindex, follow" under "Tags"
- Choose "Save Changes"
This will tell Google that your tags pages are useful for categorization and linking but do not contain unique content. Your other alternative is to add content to your tags pages that makes them unique. If you do a good job of creating truly useful tag pages, they can become very important parts of your SEO strategy. You need to be careful, though, so as not to create sprawling, thin-content sections of your site. Here is a decent guide on the practice.

Hey MobileDay -- any chance you'd be willing to share the site you're looking at so I can help diagnose the issue? Also, what tool did you use to run the crawl test? What exactly did you crawl?

Unsolved Next JS and Missing content
Hello
Moz Pro | | 4thWhale
We recently migrated our page to next JS which is supposed to be great for SEO
On almost all our pages we are getting the same errors Missing Canonical Tag Missing Title Missing or Invalid H1 Missing Description We don't understand this because we have all of that content on every page. We believe that maybe NextJs is having a incompatibility with Moz. Has anyone had any experience with this?0 -

Duplicate content issue
I'm getting duplicate content warnings from Moz for various slideshows on my posts and pages in Wordpress. It seems when I create a slideshow it exists as its own page and as these have no text Moz sees them as duplicates. Here are some examples - http://www.weddingphotojournalist.co.uk/?gallery_page=slideshow&pp_gallery_id=1331991312

http://www.weddingphotojournalist.co.uk/?gallery_page=slideshow&pp_gallery_id=1000144730 The second of those two slideshows is on this page -http://www.weddingphotojournalist.co.uk/menorca-wedding/ but also exists as the page above. How can i avoid these being seen as duplicate content?0 -
Why do I see a duplicate content errors when rel="canonical" tag is present
I was reviewing my first Moz crawler report and noticed the crawler returned a bunch of duplicate page content errors. The recommendations to correct this issue are to either put a 301 redirect on the duplicate URL or use the rel="canonical" tag so Google knows which URL I view as the most important and the one that should appear in the search results. However, after poking around the source code I noticed all of the pages that are returning duplicate content in the eyes of the Moz crawler already have the rel="canonical" tag. Does the Moz crawler simply not catch whether that tag is being used? If I have that tag in place, is there anything else I need to do in order to get that error to stop showing up in the Moz crawler report?

Crawl diagnostics incorrectly reporting duplicate page titles
Hi guys, I have a question in regards to the duplicate page titles being reported in my crawl diagnostics. It appears that the URL parameter "?ctm" is causing the crawler to think that duplicate pages exist. In GWT, we've specified to use the representative URL when that parameter is used. It appears to be working, since when I search site:http://www.causes.com/about?ctm=home, I am served a single search result for www.causes.com/about. That begs the question, why is the SEOMoz crawler saying there is duplicate page titles when Google isn't (doesn't appear under the HTML improvements for duplicate page titles)? A canonical URL is not used for this page so I'm assuming that may be one reason why. The only other thing I can think of is that Google's crawler is simply "smarter" than the Moz crawler (no offense, you guys put out an awesome product!). Any help is greatly appreciated and I'm looking forward to being an active participant in the Q&A community! Cheers, Brad

Duplicate content pages
Crawl Diagnostics Summary shows around 15,000 duplicate content errors for one of my projects, It shows the list of pages with how many duplicate pages are there for each page. But i dont have a way of seeing what are the duplicate page URLs for a specific page without clicking on each page link and checking them manually which is gonna take forever to sort. When i export the list as CSV, duplicate_page_content column doest show any data. Can anyone please advice on this please. Thanks <colgroup><col width="1096"></colgroup>

Duplicate pages with canonical links still show as errors
On our CMS, there are duplicate pages such as /news, /news/, /news?page=1, /news/?page=1. From an SEO perspective, I'm not too worried, because I guess Google is pretty capable of sorting this out, but to be on the safe side, I've added canonical links. /news itself has no link, but all the other variants have links to "/news". (And if you go wild and add a bunch of random meaningless parameters, creating /news/?page=1&jim=jam&foo=bar&this=that, we will laugh at you and generate a canonical link back to "/news". We're clever like that.) So far so good. And everything appears to work fine. But SEOMoz is still flagging up errors about duplicate titles and duplicate content. If you click in, you'll see a "Note" on each error, showing that SEOMoz has found the canonical link. So SEOMoz knows the duplication isn't a problem, as we're using canonical links exactly the way they're supposed to be used, and yet is still flagging it as an error. Is this something I should be concerned about, or is it just a bug in SEOMoz?

Crawl reports urls with duplicate content but its not the case
Hi guys!
Moz Pro | | MakMour
Some hours ago I received my crawl report. I noticed several records with urls with duplicate content so I went to open those urls one by one.
Not one of those urls were really with duplicate content but I have a concern because website is about product showcase and many articles are just images with href behind them. Many of those articles are using the same images so maybe thats why the seomoz crawler duplicate content flag is raised. I wonder if Google has problem with that too. See for yourself how it looks like: http://by.vg/NJ97y
http://by.vg/BQypE Those two url's are flagged as duplicates...please mind the language(Greek) and try to focus on the urls and content. ps: my example is simplified just for the purpose of my question. <colgroup><col width="3436"></colgroup>
