1 company, 2 shop locations, 3 Google+ pages - help!
-
Hello, I work for a furniture retailer and I'm doing an audit of our digital presence and need a hand with our G+ pages. Thanks for reading!
- We are one company but with two shops, located about 10 miles apart.
- One shop has been established over 10 years, the other is roughly a year old.
- The shops are called: 'Our Company' and 'Our Company, Second Location'
- Each shop has its own website (which is confusing and we'll hopefully shortly revert back to just one)
- We currently have three Google+ profiles: the first G+ was set up a number of years ago and was set up as a personal page, not a business and it links to both shop's websites. The other two G+ pages appear to have been created when we created a Google Local listing for each shop.
My questions are:
-
What is the best tool to handle all this info across the web? Bright Local looks good.
-
Should I junk the original G+ profile? If I do, how will I know I won't remove any important stuff from Google?
-
Should I keep 2 G+ profiles, one for each store or have 1 G+ profile and put both store's details in there. Or should I have 3 G+ profiles: 1 for our company name, and 1 for each of our 2 locations?
-
When I search for 'Our Company', I only ever get our original company to show in the Google Local listing on the right hand side of search results. Our second shop is shown in 'People also search for'. Is this the best I can hope for? Is there any way to control this?
-
Both of the G+ profiles that are linked to our Google Local listings have the original G+ URL. Should I customise this and if so, are there any naming conventions I should follow?
-
What should we do with the (2?) G+ profiles for each shop? Both have currently got no content on them.
Thanks in advance for any tips and advice.

Hi Ben,
What you want here is:
-
Ideally, 1 website with a landing page on it for each of the 2 locations.
-
A unique Google My Business Page for each of the 2 locations, linking to their respective landing pages

Google Plus, as a local product, is dead. Read: http://blumenthals.com/blog/2015/11/25/google-plus-upgrade-faq-for-the-smb/ The only reason to maintain a social presence on Google Plus is if your business has somehow earned a major following there. Otherwise, you may be better off devoting social efforts to Facebook, Pinterest, Youtube, and what have you. For a couple of years, the advice for local businesses was to post on Google+ but it never really took off and then Google divorced it from Local, so, remaining pages are kind of useless and if you don't log into them every 6 months, Google will un-validate them. Whether it's necessary to close them, I can't really say. That's a good question, but not one I've seen raised before and am not sure how the millions of local businesses who have recently gone through the +/local divorce are handling that.
Hope this helps!

Why is my site stuck on page 2 even though it has higher DA?
Hi, I'm just trying to figure out why we're still not on first page for 'criminal lawyer sydney' (stuck on result #15) - I checked out SEO Moz and I can see the Domain Authority for our site 'criminal-lawyer.com.au' - is at 23 which is higher than other sites that rank on first page of this search. I've done a bunch of technical stuff on the site too - so if anyone can give any insight on why this could be happening it would be much appreicated. Thanks!

Advanced SEO - Locations vs Service Areas
Hi we have a Roofing business that has an office "corporate headquarters" in Lincoln Nebraska- We have also setup service areas or "address locations" in other states and cities we service. The remote addresses we have are through the UPS store locations giving us an address in the areas- Knowing that Google GMB wants us to list these as service locations and not physical addresses- they have told me directly we are setup okay with separate GMB pages for each location- they say we just need to "hide" the addresses in GMB. Question: If we "hide" the local address on "all" of the local listings how will this affect the local SEO? It seems like not having a physical office will hurt the local presence- or moreso- having an actual office will help it? Can anyone give input and opinion of setting up "Service Areas" vs "Locations" as it relates to SEO and SERP placement? Many thanks in advance.

Tracking Phone Numbers in Google My Business Listings and Beyond
Hey all, Wanted to run something by you. I am getting pressed to use tracking phone numbers for all of our GMB pages for over 100 locations across the country. Has anyone done this for their own listings or for their clients? Because I will have to do it for GMB, this means I will be sending these same phone numbers out to the other major directories and data sources around the web. The phone numbers do contain the local area code for each city and do directly connect our customers to their specific location without any kind of redirecting. How is Google looking at this? I have read before it is a no-no but have also read it is not a big deal. Any thoughts would be much appreciated! -Ben

How Do I Remove Address from Google Business Page?
Not very up to date in handling local listings, so here's my situation. I have an office that is not going out of business, but instead going virtual. So that physical address will no longer exist but the team is intact. So I am dealing with the Google Business Listing page for this office at https://business.google.com/ In the "Published on" section, it has Google Search, Google Maps, and Google+. I want to remove it from Maps and the address from this account. There's an address for this store, but editing it only seems to allow changing, but not removal. There is also the option of "Mark as Permanently Closed", but surely that isn't the best option since that will leave a nasty red "PERMANENTLY CLOSED" in the results when searching. What's the best course of action here?

Google Local Listing Ranking/Traffic Metrics in the Google Search Console?
A client of mine asked me if it was possible to see local listing data (ranking/traffic stats) in the Google Search Console for a URL. I figured the Google Search Console only shows organic metrics not 3-pack/local listing performance. However I could be mistaken. Does the Google Search Console report this?

Google Maps: Submitted Feedback Changed Results
I came across something interesting today. So there is a business in one of my clients areas that had submitted and was being listed on google maps for some spammy locations. I went in and submitted feedback informing google of bad listings. Within 30 minutes or so my results for the same key phrase was different. I decided to see why. I went to other browsers on my computer and searched that key phrase and the results went back to how I originally saw them before the feedback submission. I then erased my browsers cache and after this the results now showed the original results. Does anybody know what cookies and such get placed in a browser that affect listing results? Sincerely, Garret
