How can I make sure that we are only tracking for single URLs?
-
Is there a way to track in Google analytics where part of the URL is excluded. For example, we need to track when customers complete an application form, however whenever a new form is completed a new URL is created. This makes it difficult to track pages in GA as there are so many URLs.

If it's only the Goal tracking you need: if your final url is changing each time but still has some elements that are always the same you could use regular expressions to match the part of the url that stays the same. Alternative would be to launch an event when the user action is completed and set goal tracking on the occurence of that event.
If you want to clean your reports in general - you can send a "fake" url instead of the real one to the reporting.
Example suppose you have a page like mydomain.com/thankyou.html?param1=xyz¶m2=kjkj¶m3=flkf and you only want to see mydomain.com/thankyou.html you could overrule analytics using this type of code on that page:
ga('create', 'UA-xxxxxx','auto');
ga('send', 'pageview', {'page': '/thankyou.html',});=> in your reporting you will now only see /thankyou.hmtl & not the "ugly" version. Disadvantage is that if you click to see the page in Analytics you won't see the actual page anymore. (most often this is used for single page applications - but it can be used in this context as well - check https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/analyticsjs/single-page-applications for more info on implementation)
Another alternative would be to strip out parameters by default - by excluding them in the Analytics profile - a how to can be found here: http://blog.crazyegg.com/2013/03/29/remove-url-parameters-from-google-analytics-reports/
Hope this helps,
Dirk

Can't identify the real source of a goal because subdomains in GA
Hello, I have one domain for my website (www.domain.com) where I receive all the new traffic and a subdomain (billing.domain.com) for the billing system. Im tracking both in Analytics. I have a goal (new order) configured in the subdomain -billing system-. But when I want to track the source / medium of the goals (new orders) in billing.domain.com, always appears my main website (www.domain.com) as the referral. Now I added in Analytics: Admin > Property > Referral Exclusion List, the www.domain.com and domain.com. Do you think that now I can track the real referrer of the goals? Or should I do a more complex tracking setup with Tag Manager ( https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/6106951 ) to pass the session cookies from a subdomain to another one, just to identify the real source / medium of the visitor? Thank you 🙂

Why google stubbornly keeps indexing my http urls instead of the https ones?
I moved everything to https in November, but there are plenty of pages which are still indexed by google as http instead of https, and I am wondering why. Example: http://www.gomme-auto.it/pneumatici/barum correctly redirect permanently to https://www.gomme-auto.it/pneumatici/barum Nevertheless if you search for pneumatici barum: https://www.google.it/search?q=pneumatici+barum&oq=pneumatici+barum The third organic result listed is still http. Since we moved to https google crawler visited that page tens of time, last one two days ago. But doesn't seems to care to update the protocol in google index. Anyone knows why? My concern is when I use API like semrush and ahrefs I have to do it twice to try both http and https, for a total of around 65k urls I waste a lot of my quota.

How can I tell if I am using Universal Analytics?
On my Google Analytics page it says at the top "Upgrade to Universal Analytics Upgrade to get a deeper understanding of your users through new tools and more accurate data." Below that it talks about how to do it. I do not see what they are talking about for "Select an account and a property, then click Universal Analytics Upgrade." But if I can into my change history is shows Changed By-System Property "http://www123.com" started transfer to Universal Analytics processing." This was on May 22nd and it hasn't said anything since. Why does it keep telling me to do it if it already has? It doesn't say transfer complete anywhere so I don't know if it finished or not.

How to better track subdomains in Google Analytics?
Hello Everybody! so I am setting up a website that will have several subdomains, based on the language of the site, for example: site.com; es.site.com; fr.site.com... How should I trace this is GA but having attention that I should be able to see visits as a whole and also if I want I should be able to see visits per subdomain, anything on specific I should do when creating the account? And after creating the account, how to separate that accordingly? 🙂 Thank you all!

Not Provided Filter is not tracking goals
I have setup ‘Not Provided’ filter, but it is not tracking conversions accurately. Basically the filter displays goals url’s as conversion urls & not the landing url’s. For example – I would expect home page to have maximum conversions, but its shows higher visits & no conversions. Has anyone experienced this? I have attached screenshot of the ‘Not provided’ Filter. 0L0fS3h SxzRP7w

Goal tracking in Google Analytics
Hi folks I read from various sources that if you setup goals in Google Analytics each of these goals can only be fulfilled once per visit. Also some sources suggesting that only one goal from each goal group can be fulfilled per visit. On our site we have a goal for external links since this provides value to partners. Some users do open an external link in a new tab, then come back to the main site. Any further goal completions would then not get tracked. Since we apply a result based payment model for our work this means we are literally loosing money. Anyone has official info from Google on this? Can it be configured? How long is a visit? Thanks a million and have a great day. Fredrik

My Domain Authority Dropped Dramatically..Can Someone Tell Me Why??
Over the last month or so my Domain Authority, my MozRank and MozTrust have all dropped off considerably. I haven't been doing anything different. So I don't know where to turn or what to do to get it back to where it was. The effects are horrible on my SEO. Can anyone out there tell me what it is I can do to why they dropped? Or more importantly, how can I improve it?
