Dynamic XML Sitemap Generator

Has anyone used a Dynamic XML Sitemap Generator tool? Looking for recommendations!

Are you running a CMS? If so maybe it has one built-in or available as a plugin - for example the Yoast SEO plugin on WordPress will create a sitemap, has plenty of inclusion & exclusion rules, (including a per-page override), and helps you do a bunch of other stuff too. I'm most other CMSs have something available by now.
If it's a custom-built dynamic site maybe your development team, (or developer), can add sitemap functionality. If you have a lot of pages, backed by a custom database, the best way to make sure your sitemap is up to date will be to generate it based on your data, not let some 3rd-party tool follow links around your site - Google can do that already!
If you are not running a CMS, or a custom app, how many pages do you have? It might be easiest to write the XML sitemap by hand, (although I'm a developer, so that's easy for me to say), or try out Logan's recommendation.

Hi Chris,
Screaming Frog has been my go-to XML sitemap generator for years. Plenty of customization options for exclusions and inclusions.

SITEMAP - Does <changefreq>and <image:title>have any apreciable effect?</image:title></changefreq>
Hi everyone. It was hard to find some actual evidence that some of the atributes to be declared in a sitemap have some real impact.

Particularly, im interested in these two: <changefreq></changefreq> and**image:title</image:title>** I've used them in a few cases just to check their effect and couldnt see any.
Do you have any experience with these? Or any other atribute that might be helpful, in order to create a more accurate and effective sitemap? Also, this could be a great topic to create a new Moz Blog post, the one about sitemap is 8years old.0 -
Sitemap error
Hey Guys Everytime I run the tester through google webmaster tools - I keep getting an error that tells me "Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead." An idea how to go about fixing this without changing the site around? https://www.zenory.co.nz/sitemap I have seen competitors sitemaps look similar to mine. Cheers

Wordpress - Dynamic pages vs static pages
Hi, Our site has over 48,000 indexed links, with a good mix of pages, posts and dynamic pages. For the purposes of SEO and the recent talk of "fresh content" - would it be better to keep dynamic pages as they are or manually create static pages/ subpages. The one noticable downside with dynamic pages is that they arent picked up by any sitemap plugins, you need to manually create a separate sitemap just for these dynamic links. Any thoughts??

Is there a maximum amount of pages that should be added on a sitemap daily?
I started a new music site that has a database of 8,000,000 songs and 500,000+ artists that we are cross referencing with free & legal content sources. Each song essentially has its own page. We are about to start adding links to a sitemap and wanted to find the best practices. Should we add all 8,000,000+ links at once? Should we add a maximum amount a day? Maybe max 5,000? What are the pros and cons of slowly adding the pages or adding them all at once. Any risks? At the rate google is crawling our page it will take 8 years to have all of our songs indexed (It would be very hard to crawl all of our songs as our system is more of an app). I wan't to play it safe and not do anything that will come off as spammy. I have been trying to find some actual evidence on what the best course of action is. Thanks in Advance!

Mobile Sitemaps
We are planning on creating a mobile site using a different URL. Our current sitemap creator won't dynamically detect mobile pages using the rel="alternate" tag but can can create a Project for that domain in Sitemap Creator and use the "mobile" option when you export it. The Sitemap Creator will then insert the mobile:mobilecontent tag for all the URLs in that sitemap. </mobile:mobile> Is this okay or will it cause problems?

Is there a way to keep sitemap.xml files from getting indexed?
Wow, I should know the answer to this question. Sitemap.xml files have to be accessible to the bots for indexing they can't be disallowed in robots.txt and can't block the folder at the server level. So how can you allow the bots to crawl these xml pages but have them not show up in google's index when doing a site: command search, or is that even possible? Hmmm

Should I create a separate sitemap.xml for paginated categories?
For example: http://www.site.com/category/sub-category http://www.site.com/category/sub-category/1 http://www.site.com/category/sub-category/2 http://www.site.com/category/sub-category/3 Thanks in advance! 🙂

Should the sitemap include just menu pages or all pages site wide?
I have a Drupal site that utilizes Solr, with 10 menu pages and about 4,000 pages of content. Redoing a few things and we'll need to revamp the sitemap. Typically I'd jam all pages into a single sitemap and that's it, but post-Panda, should I do anything different?
