Are these Search Console crawl errors a major concern to new client site?
-
We recently (4/1) went live with a new site for a client of ours. The client site was originally Point2 before they made the switch to a template site with Real Estate Webmasters. Now when I look into the Search Console I am getting the following Crawl Errors:
- 111 Server Errors (photos)
- 104 Soft 404s (blogs, archives, tags)
- 6,229 Not Found (listings)
I have a few questions. The server errors I know not a lot about so I generally ignore. My main concerns are the 404s and not found. The 404s are mostly tags and blog archives which I wonder if I should leave alone or do 301s for each to /blog.
For not found, these are all the previous listings from the IDX. My assumption is these will naturally fall away after some time, as the new ones have already indexed. But I wonder what I should be doing here and which will be affecting me.
When we launched the new site there was a large spike in clicks ( 250% increase) which has now tapered off to an average of ~85 clicks versus ~160 at time of launch. Not sure if the Crawl Errors have any effect, I'm guessing not so much right now.
I'd appreciate your insights Mozzers!

The Soft 404s are probably because the archive and/or tag pages that they are crawling are predominantly empty and look like a 404'd page that is returning a 200. If google is already indexing the actual articles/blog posts then you can most likely safely NoIndex the archive pages and tag pages. Many of those pages exist for the visitor but wind up creating other problems like duplicate content issues, soft 404, and so on.
Anything that is a legitimate 404 but is still coming up as a Soft 404, you should make sure your backend is serving the 404 response code properly or not as there may be an issue there. Other legitimate 404s that are serving the proper 404 reponse (not soft 404) are fine and can be marked fixed.
For those "Not Found" previous listing, you need to determine what (if anything) should be 301'd to an existing page so as to not lose link equity and then determine what is gone forever to serve a 410 response on (or leave them as 404s and they'll drop off eventually).

Hi there.
See the date when those errors were discovered in Search console. If they are recent, it means that the missing pages are indeed crawled and return 404, which is not good, however you look at it. So, yes, i'd recommend to redirect those to existing pages. Usually crawl errors don't have direct effect on rankings, but it's always nice to fix them. So, if you are sure that all of those 404s are "fixed" now or not supposed to be there, spend an hour fixing the top priority ones, don't die over it.
Hope this helps.

Page Speed or Site Speed which one does Google considered a ranking signal
I've read many threads online which proves that website speed is a ranking factor. There's a friend whose website scores 44 (slow metric score) on Google Pagespeed Insights. Despite that his website is slow, he outranks me on Google search results. It confuses me that I optimized my website for speed, but my competitor's slow site outperforms me. On Six9ja.com, I did amazing work by getting my target score which is 100 (fast metric score) on Google Pagespeed Insights. Coming to my Google search console tool, they have shown that some of my pages have average scores, while some have slow scores. Google search console tool proves me wrong that none of my pages are fast. Then where did the fast metrics went? Could it be because I added three Adsense Javascript code to all my blog posts? If so, that means that Adsense code is slowing website speed performance despite having an async tag. I tested my blog post speed and I understand that my page speed reduced by 48 due to the 3 Adsense javascript codes added to it. I got 62 (Average metric score). Now, my site speed is=100, then my page speed=62 Does this mean that Google considers page speed rather than site speed as a ranking factor? Webmaster Tools Suddenly Asking For Verification of Site Registered for 5 Years
Google Webmaster Tools has been successfully installed on my website, (www.nyc-officespace-leader.com) for more than five years. Suddenly, today I have received a request to Verify this Site". This makes no sense. The only possibility I can think of is that this is somehow tied to the following events in the last month: 1. Launch of new version of website on June 4th
Reporting & Analytics | | Kingalan1
2. Installation of Google of Tag Manager
3. Sudden Increase in number of pages indexed by Google. Unexplained indexing of an additional 175 pages. About 625 pages should be indexed, while 800 are now indexed. In the last month ranking and traffic have fallen sharply. Could it be tat these issues are all linked? But the strangest issue is the request to verify the site. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks,

Having Issue with Site Search in Analytics
Hi Mozzers, We launched a website in October 2012 and have added in the settings(Google analytics) of that profile "Do Track Site Search" since we have a search box on the website. The site search report worked for 10 days and it was over(from end of december till beginning of January 2013). Since then I have been trying to understand this issue. I have added all the query search terms possible, but still not showing any signs of life. At this point I am not sure what to do? Some Help would be appreciated! Search URL= subdomain.example.com**/search/node/**.... Thanks! z93cGUZ.png

Google Webmasters DNS error
Hi, In my webmaster tools I have a yellow triangle stating that there is a DNS error that is preventing Google crawling my sites. The site is indexed and I have checked fetch as Google and that seems ok but the triangle is still there every time I check it. The whois sites all have the correct information and point to Hostgator who I am using. I have contacted them and they said everything seems ok. Should I just carry on as normal with my link building as the site is indexed or investigate even further? Cheers, Stuart

SEOMoz crawls skewing Avg Visit Duration in Google Analytics
Hello, We are a UK based company. Our Google Analytics account is showing a rise in Avg Visit Duration for 'Direct traffic' since we started using SEOMoz. Are any other users experiencing this issue? We tracked it down to City Seattle, and when doing an Advanced filter by removing Seattle, the results are normal again. What does SEOMoz or other users recommend we do besides continuously using advanced filters? We have enquired about excluding Roger's IP address, but have been told that Roger uses the Amazon cloud, so the IP is not static. See attachment for screenshot of our Google Analytics account of Avg Visit Duration since we began with SEOMoz. Rich Talbot 718g3.gif

Unable to use Open Site Explorer
I have repeatedly tried to use Open Site Explorer on a site. I always get the same response: No Data Available for this URL The site is 4 months old. It is listed by Alexa in 1.3 million page category. The site ranks well on numerous key terms for the industry it covers. OSE offers 4 reasons for not having data: 1. Recency of page creation. In the explanation offered 45-60 days is the longest estimate it should take. The site has been live close to 120 days. 2. Deep down in the web. The tool doesn't even have any data for the site's home page. 3. Blocked pages. The site is listed in Google and these pages are not blocked. 4. No links. There are plenty of links. Site url is www.terapvp.com What can I do to fix this issue and get data?
