Breadcrumb JSON Extraction?
-
Sorry the title may not make the most sense as I'm not entirely sure what my question would be phrased as.
https://developers.google.com/structured-data/breadcrumbs#examples
We have breadcrumbs on our site, these are generated by a plugin.
So for example we have:
Do we have any way where we can implement this without development being involved?
Alternatively is there anyway to use the current url? (as we do use folders) so an example being: http://domain.com/page1/page2/page3
Probably not possible but I live in hope.

For those wondering, I haven't been able to find a solution and the people I have spoken to have agreed that we don't think this is possible (to warrant the amount of work we would need to do)

Homepage name in Breadcrumb for schema.org
Hi all, We have recently implemented the schema.org structure for our breadcrumbs. In our breadcrumb we include a link to the homepage. Since implementation I'm receiving the following error in Google Search Console: Either "name" or "item.name" should be specified The error is being triggered because we don't have itemprop="name" defined for the homepage on each page. Our breadcrumbs look good in search but I'm wondering if anybody else has experienced this error and what can we do to fix it. Should itemprop="name" be our Brand name? Or should we define this as our root domain? Thanks in advance

How to Implement JSON-LD
Hi, I was implementing JSON-LD via Google Tag Manager but have since read that it is better to place directly on the web page. My questions are: Where exactly do you add the JSON-LD - I mean physically? This article by Moz says the head or body. Does it matter where in the head? At the end? If you do not have development access- is there an easy way to insert? Can you view the added JSON-LD directly on the web page after you have added it or is it not visible in the source once you have added it this way ? If you cannot see it, how do you view? Or it it just OK to use the Google Structured Testing tool as evidence that it is being seen by Google? Thanks

Different breadcrumbs for each productpage
Hi all, I have a question related to the breadcrumb. We have an e-commerce site. There is a difference in the breadcrumb when navigating to our products vs directly browsing to the URL of the product. When you navigate to the product the breadcrumb looks like this (also in the source code):
Technical SEO | | AMAGARD
Home > Sand > Sandpit sand > Bigbag Sandpit sand type xyz When you visit the product URL directly, the breadcrumb looks like this (also in the source code):
Home > Bigbag Sandpit sand type xyz Looks to me that can be confusing for a search engine and that it is unclear what the site's structure/hierarchy is like (and also for a user of course). Is that true? If yes, does this have a big direct negative impact looking at SEO? Thanks in advance!0 -
SEO Content Audits Questions (Removing pages from website, extracting data, organizing data).
Hi everyone! I have a few questions - we are running an SEO content audit on our entire website and I am wondering the best FREE way to extract a list of all indexed pages. Would I need to use a mix of Google Analytics, Webmaster Tools, AND our XML sitemap or could I just use Webmaster Tools to pull the full list? Just want to make sure I am not missing anything. As well, once the data is pulled and organized (helpful to know the best way to pull detailed info about the pages as well!) I am wondering if it would be a best practice to sort by high trafficked pages in order to rank them for prioritization (ie: pages with most visits will be edited and optimized first). Lastly, I am wondering what constitutes a 'removable' page. For example, when it is appropriate to fully remove a page from our website? I understand that it is best, if you need to remove a page, to redirect the person to another similar page OR the homepage. Is this the best practice? Thank you for the help! If you say it is best to organize by trafficked pages first in order to optimize them - I am wondering if it would be an easier process to use MOZ tools like Keyword Explorer, Page Optimization, and Page Authority to rank pages and find ways to optimize them for best top relevant keywords. Let me know if this option makes MORE sense than going through the entire data extraction process.

Breadcrumbs and Left hand menus....
I wanted to know some opinions on breadcrumbs and left hand menus on a page. Take a traditional two column page, you have the left hand navigation on the left, and page copy on the right. The introduction of breadcrumbs serves two things Navigation for the user, shows structurally how the page fits SEO benefit - include breadcrumbs, use schema and you potentially provided more page links on a single search result. Thinking about this, isn't the left hand navigation and breadcrumbs the same? The left hand navigation shows where the page fits, which is precisely what the breadcrumbs do. You are doubling the links, left hand menu and breadcrumbs Sure you can get rid of the breadcrumbs, but from an SEO stand point, won't you lose the ability to have breadcrumbs via schema on search results Do you see breadcrumbs and menu differently, should breadcrumbs only exist on single column pages (say an ecommerce page) and left hand menu on two column pages like an article page? Thoughts?

How to extract URLs from a site (without bringing the server down!)
Hi everybody. One of my clients is migrating to a new ecommerce platform, and we need to get a list of urls from the existing site to start mapping out the 301 redirects. Usually, I'd use a tool like Xenu or Integrity to crawl and output a list. However, the database and server setup is so bad that it can't handle the requests from these tools and it sends the site down. This, unsurprisingly, is one of the reasons for the migration. Does anybody know of a way to get a full list of urls without having to make a bunch of http requests which will kill the site? Any advice would be much appreciated!
