Frustrated by Google Search Result
-
We have a page on our website for our review of the "Voltage" shisha flavor by "Social Smoke" (Social Smoke is the brand). Voltage is one of their hookah tobacco flavors. https://www.hookah.org/social-smoke-voltage-flavored-hookh-tobacco/. When I search for "Social Smoke Voltage Review", our page is at the bottom of the first page result.
We have a video, decent content on the page, and a review function. We've implemented correct Schema code too: https://goo.gl/iwCP7E. When I use the page grade tool on Moz. Our page ranks B for that keyword but the results number 1 and 2 and 3 on Google all rank C or D. Our video and review schemas don't show up on Google search result either.
We have a good community online. Our social media pages are popular. We share the blog posts on the social media accounts fairly regularly too. We have an old and established website. From what I understand we are following all of Google's standards and rules too. What does a website owner gotta do?
-
Yes, building enough backlinks with the correct anchor text will get the page ranked high but there are 100s of similar pages to that on our website. I can't have backlinks to every one of those pages.
-
Time could fix this but our website has been better than all those sites in terms of content for many years. Yes, I've looked at what those sites have too, a number of key links mostly paid.
-
Can't go wrong with building links to the page.. try and find a way to get some exact anchor links back to that page (either externally or internally). That should help bump your rankings.
I'd recommend doing some backlink analysis on your site as well as your competitors and try to find some marketing opportunities.

Sometimes, the answer is just time. If these pages went up recently, it can take time--up to a few months to start ranking where you want to be ranking.
Also, it may be a good idea to look at the websites that are taking those top three spots. What do they have that you don't? Are they directory sites? Are they targeting different or more specific keywords? If not, I'd give it a couple months--or have an SEO company take a look at your site and see if they can determine the problem.

Google Webmaster Guideline Change: Human-Readable list of links
In the revised webmaster guidelines, google says "[...] Provide a sitemap file with links that point to the important pages on your site. Also provide a page with a human-readable list of links to these pages (sometimes called a site index or site map page)." (Source: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/35769?hl=en) I guess what they mean by this is something like this: http://www.ziolko.de/sitemap.html Still, I wonder why they say that. Just to ensure that every page on a site is linked and consequently findable by humans (and crawlers - but isn't the XML sitemap for those and gives even better information)? Should not a good navigation already lead to every page? What is the benefit of a link-list-page, assuming you have an XML sitemap? For a big site, a link-list is bound to look somewhat cluttered and its usefulness is outclassed by a good navigation, which I assume as a given. Or isn't it? TL;DR: Can anybody tell me what exactly is the benefit of a human-readable list of all links? Regards, Nico

Do special characters ñ ã ô ä ö ü í à affect search results?
Dear Community, the google AdWords Keyword Tool shows e.g.: monthly global search for: "Satéré-Mawê Tribe" = 0
On-Page Optimization | | inlinear
but for "Satere-Mawe Tribe" = 320 (at least) But doing a search with or without using special characters, seems not to make a difference? as Google shows "the right" results even when people are making mistakes in spelling. On an english website I wantto use in the Title "Hunting, fishing and living with the Satéré-Mawê Tribe" using the correct Portuguese spelling. As Google Keyword tool tells me english speaking persons don't like using special characters... should I also leave them out in general or just don't mind? Thanks for any response

Only homepage in Google
Hello SEOmozzers, A colleague of mine started up a site here: www.wikiboedel.nl. Sadly only the homepage is indexed in Google. It's a wordpress install. Robots.txt seems fine, all pages are on index and follow. Can't see why only the home is indexed in Google. Do you know whats going wrong? Please tell me. Tank you.

Does 'XXX' in Domain get filtered by Google
I have a friend that has xxx in there domain and they are a religious based sex/porn addiction company but they don't show up for the queries that they are optimized against. They have a 12+ year old domain, all good health signs in quality links and press from trusted companies. Google sends them adult traffic, mostly 'trolls' and not the users they are looking for. Has anyone experienced domain word filtering and have a work around or solution? I posted in the Google Webmaster help forums and that community seems a little 'high on their horses' and are trying to hard to be cool. I am not too religious and don't necessarily support the views of the website but just trying to help a friend of a friend with a topic that I have never encountered. here is the url: xxxchurch.com Thanks, Brian

Google images hits distorting my results. What to do.
Hit from google images seem to be distroting my results. I sell airport taxis so want rid of any hots that came through google images as there no buying intent Aanlytics shows (when i click in) Traffic Sources > Search Engine Optimisation > Quires 250 clicks All of which came from quires related to generic taxi terms which I do (unfortunately) rank for in search. I imagine these generated because I have a taxi cab image in page one of google images. So when people search for a picture of a taxi they click mine. However in SEO MOZ the traffic data tab shows: google = 219 clicks images.google = 3 clicks This should be the other way round shouldn't it?

we went into our google account and saw about 70 bad links that they found on our site. what's the best thing to do, seo-wise: should we go into the pages that have the bad links and delete them from the html code, or re-direct them in our htaccess script?

What URL Should I use in Google Place Page?
Alright, I have a client that has 1 website and 14 locations. We want to create place pages for each of their locations but my question is which URL should I put in the place page and why? I can put in the root domain into each place page, or should I put in the URL that lands on the actual location on the root. example: domain.com/location1 Thanks!
