Idea for the Best Method of getting REAL Keyword Search Data
-
I've been using googles keyword tools to get keyword search data, but I'm pretty sceptical of some of the results it throws out on number of searches. On a number of keywords - particularly when you get to longtail, I've seen results which cannot possibly be right.
So - I am trying to find out a way of getting REAL data I can trust.
Here are my thoughts on a possible method of getting this key data:
1/. Firstly I am taking on the assumption that the adwords campaign monitoring statistics are more reliable and accurate than the keyword research tools - correct me if I am wrong!2/. Then take a load of keywords you wish to monitor and create didfferent ads for them based of EXACT match.
3/. Make sure non of your adverts conflict with each other, so you may have to turn off any other campaigns you have running.
4/. Put you bids and available spend as high as possible, so that ideally you will your ads will always be shown for every search match, and ideally always come in No1 spot on the ads. IE your aim is to create a neutral environment where your ads are shown for every search match and appear in the exact same position for each search match.
Run the campaign for a period of time long enough to be confident that you have enough search data.
From this you should have the vital data on keyword searches done on your exact match keywords.
5/. Repeat the test, but this time use phrase matches and again make sure there are no conflicts.
6/. Repeat again with broad match - this would require very careful implimentation not to have any conflicts and you would likely need to make heavy use of the "Not Include" keywords.
What are your thoughts on the above process? - Any flaws, or other better solutions?
Obviously one key thing with doing this is you need to have to be prepared to have a decent budget to get this data - but it won't be wasted as you will also be getting the adwords traffic.
Thanks

A good way to get real keyword data is to run adwords campaigns for the exact keywords, yet it is never going to be exact due to demand increases and drops over time.

Keyword Research: Page Authority and Keyword Difficulty
A speaker at a conference suggested using your Page Authority (of home page) number as a benchmark in keyword research to compare against keyword difficulty number. So if you had a Page Authority score of 60, you would look for keywords with a difficulty of under 60 (using the MOZ metrics for keyword difficulty). Has anyone used these metrics in this way? Any success?

Keyword Difficulty Tool Problems?
I was just using the keyword difficulty tool and for some reason, some of the keywords show "not enough data"...I'm not sure why this is the case because a few days ago, there was data... Anyway, is this because it take time for the tool to gather data each month, or is it because there's an issue with the GoogleAPI? Thanks a lot for your help!

Using MOZ Keyword Rankings with Google Analytics in Excel to track paid keywords
Hi, I sorted my keywords in GA from highest incoming traffic to lowest, exported it and then imported these 280 or something keywords into SEO Moz. The problem is, it appears that SEO Moz Keyword Rankings tool pulls traffic data (in the traffic column) only for NON-PAID traffic ... So what I'm seeing is that keywords that brings A LOT of traffic to my site (because of AdWords) sometimes have 0 of traffic in SEO Moz, because I'm on page 3 of SERP and I literally got no non-paid traffic that week. The thing is: I want to improve my rankings for keywords that I'm already performing well, even if they are paid keywords, because they already bring me a lot of traffic to my website. The way this is working is not helping me out, because when I sort by the traffic column very important keywords end up in the last place for me. Questions: Whey does SEO Moz pull traffic data from non-paid keywords only ? Shouldn't be at least an option for this or I'm missing something here ? While they don't change it, any Excel Gurus could help me how to export SEO Moz ranking data, import it on Excel and MERGE a new "paid traffic" column that I export from Google Analytics ? How to assing each keyword line the paid traffic value I'm getting from GA ? Thanks ! Felipe

Keyword Rankings Question
Does the Keyword Rankings tool track all urls or just the main. Example: Say I put www.domain.com to have tracked. Will the Keyword Rankings tool also track www.domain.com/landing-page and any derivative of the main domain or would this be considered a separate campaign. Thanks

A tool for seeing all the keywords a website ranks for
As title, is there a tool out there that will allow you to see all the keywords a website ranks for in the first few pages of a particlur search engine? I would be particularly interested for keywords in the first 10 pages of Google. Thanks
