Bad Grammar's Effect on Rankings
-
Mozzers,
I have a client who's brand style guide dictates that they write in all lowercase letters. Do you think this will hurt rankings?

Hi,
Google wants to offer the best experience. If the website's grammar is a disaster, it might prefer better presented content.
Another thing is visitors - they too want the best experience. Moreover, there is a trust issue when the website looks like the content was created overnight by an illiterate person. This will look like the company cannot afford to employ educated people, not mentioning proofreaders. This will certainly result in higher bounce rates, unless the grammar errors are entertaining and reading the content is actually fun! I would suggest to you to mention this to your client, editing doesn't need to be expensive.
Good luck!

Today errors of grammar and spelling raise suspicions that have averted terrorist attacks and financial crimes. Two thousand years ago, the inability to properly pronounce the response to a night sentry's greeting was used to foil enemy attacks.
I've deleted many email solicitations because they have bad grammar or spelling. I've left websites for the same reason. Have you ever done that?

Thanks, EGOL. I always appreciate your wisdom!

I believe that you will have two worries.... 1) what Google thinks, and if they will demote for this; and, 2) what visitors think, and if that causes them to engage the site less.
The more visitors that the site has who care about grammar the larger the impact from engagement and perhaps Google cares more about good grammar for some subjects than others.

What is the feeliing of "Here's where our site can help" text links used for conversions?
If you have an ecommerce site that is using editorial content on topics related to the site's business model to build organic traffic and draw visitors who might be interested in using the site's services eventually, what is the SEO (page ranking) impact -- as well as the impact on the visitors' perceptions about the reliability of the information on the site -- of using phrases like "Here is where [our site] can help you." in nearly every article. Note: the "our site" text would be linked in each case as a conversion point to one of the site's services pages to get visitors to move from content pages on a site to the sales pages on the site. Will this have an impact on page rankings? Does it dilute the page's relevance to search engines? Will the content look less authoritative because of the prevalence of these types of links? What about the same conversion links without the "we can help" text - i.e., more natural-sounding links that stem from the flow of the article but can lead interested visitors deeper into the ecommerce section of the site?

Do the referring domains matter a lot in back-links? Google's stand?
Hi, It's a known fact about quality of back-links than quantity. Still domains are heavily different from links. Multiple domains are huge comparing to multiple links. Taking an average, how much does 'number of referring domains" boost website authority? I am not speaking about low quality domains, just number of domains including which are irrelevant to the topic or industry. Thanks

50% drop in search, no changes to site over 2 days, no notifications, A rank...
My URL is: http://applianceassistant.com

With no changes to my site, I suddenly experienced a huge drop in search queries on Aug1. Your company has still given me an overall rating of A. I just thought you may be able to help or be interested in my case due to it's strange nature. Due to some suggestions on the webmaster forums, I have disavowed all low quality back links to the site, and I am currently working through each page trying to make the key words a little less spammy. Here are some screen shots of the action...

How to Interpret Rankings Decline
My website operates in 14 languages, and overall we have not seen a decrease in traffic (hard to measure because we are very vulnerable to external factors) I started using AWR about a month ago and in that time have seen the following changes in my visibility for some of my major markets: Nothing major in either direction, but any advice of how to delve deeper to find an explanation for the markets that are decreasing? UK: 15% ->13% RU: 25 -> 26% AU: 25% -> 21% DE: 18% - 19% ES: 11% -> 10% SE: 42% -> 44%

I can't understand why I am not rank one on SERPS
Hi Guys, I really cannot understand why I am no longer rank 1 on SERPs? My link data shows great weight in comparison to competitors, my on page SEO is good, nice and diverse on the alt text. I know there are a lot of factors that effect SERPs but I believe I have done well but am still not ranking? Have I missed something?

Are all duplicate contents bad?
We were badly hit by Panda back in January 2012. Unfortunately, it is only now that we are trying to recover back. CASE 1:
Algorithm Updates | | Gautam.Jain
We develop software products. We send out 500-1000 word description about the product to various download sites so that they can add to their product listing. So there are several hundred download sites with same content. How does Google view this? Did Google penalize us due to this reason? CASE 2: In the above case the product description does not match with any content on our website. However, there are several software download sites that copy and paste the content from our website as the product description. So in this case, the duplicate content match with our website. How does Google view this? Did Google penalize us due to this reason? Along with all the download sites, there are also software piracy & crack sites that have the duplicate content. So, should I remove duplicate content only from the software piracy & crack sites or also from genuine download sites? Does Google reject all kind of duplicate content? Or it depends on who hosts the duplicate content? Confused 😞 Please help.0 -
Local Vs National SEO Rankings
Hi Guys, I just had a quick question, is it truly possible to rank number one worldwide/nationally for a keyword phrase these days such as, Computer repair services. I'm not too concerned with the local serps that come up above the fold. I'm just more concerned, if Google is looking to serve more local results into the regular serps listing? I hope that makes sense thanks. Best, Peter
