Duplicate Content from long Site Title
-
Hello!
I have a number of "Duplicate Title Errors" as my website has a long Site Title: Planit NZ: New Zealand Tours, Bus Passes & Travel Planning.
Am I better off with a short title that is simply my website/business name: Planit NZ
My thought was adding some keywords might help with my rankings.
Thanks
Matt

Hi Mkyhnn
I think your problem is stemming from the fact that in Wordpress and other CMS systems that the title is auto generated and is appending itself to the end of all the URLs on your website. This will, for example on a page like a contact, create a title that is 'contact - Planit NZ: New Zealand Tours, Bus Passes & Travel Planning' so of course most of the short titled pages you have are being swamped by the main site title causing duplication.
If this is the case then:
Home page: Planit NZ: New Zealand Tours, Bus Passes & Travel Planning
This is fine
All other pages - write unique titles that relate to the content on the page. Using Yoast or similar you do not have to have the main title append itself to all the pages. You can write them uniquely and then just add 'Planit NZ' at the end to stay within the 60-70 characters that Google recommends.
This way will fix your problem.
Regards
Nigel

Hello there!
Yeap, It is advisable to use a short frase as a brand term in the title, then add the title corresponding the topic or something descriptive for the content in the page.
Yeap, it also helps to have some selected search terms in the title but also remember that every page in a site should have different titles.
A very often used format is: brand | title.
eg: Gaston´s Blog | What about Electronic EngineeringHope it helps.

Home page duplicate content...
Hello all! I've just downloaded my first Moz crawl CSV and I noticed that the home page appears twice - one with an appending forward slash at the end: http://www.example.com

http://www.example.com/ For any of my product and category pages that encounter this problem - it's automatically resolved with a canonical tag. Should I create the same canonical tag for my home page? rel="canonical" href="http://www.example.com" />0 -
Multilingual -> ahref lang, canonical and duplicated title content
Hi all! We have our site eurasmus.com where we are implementing the multilingual.
Technical SEO | | Eurasmus.com
We have already available english and spanish and we use basically href lang to control different areas. First question: When a page is not translated but still is visible in both langauges under /en and /es is it enough with the hreflang or should we
add a canonical as well? Nowadays we are apply href lang and only canonicals to the one which are duplicated
in the same language. Second question: When some pages are not translated, like http://eurasmus.com/en/info/find-intern-placement-austria and http://eurasmus.com/es/info/find-intern-placement-austria,
we are setting up the href lang but still moz detects title and meta duplicated (not duplicate page content).
What do you suggest we should do? Let me know and thank you before hand for your help!0 -
Duplicate Page Content and Titles from Weebly Blog
Anyone familiar with Weebly that can offer some suggestions? I ran a crawl diagnostics on my site and have some high priority issues that appear to stem from Weebly Blog posts. There are several of them and it appears that the post is being counted as "page content" on the main blog feed and then again when it is tagged to a category. I hope this makes sense, I am new to SEO and this is really confusing. Thanks!

Squarespace Duplicate Content Issues
My site is built through squarespace and when I ran the campaign in SEOmoz...its come up with all these errors saying duplicate content and duplicate page title for my blog portion. I've heard that canonical tags help with this but with squarespace its hard to add code to page level...only site wide is possible. Was curious if there's someone experienced in squarespace and SEO out there that can give some suggestions on how to resolve this problem? thanks

Duplicate Page Content and Title for product pages. Is there a way to fix it?
We we're doing pretty good with our SEO, until we added product listing pages. The errors are mostly Duplicate Page Content/Title. e.g. Title: Masterpet | New Zealand Products MasterPet Product page1 MasterPet Product page2 Because the list of products are displayed on several pages, the crawler detects that these two URLs have the same title. From 0 Errors two weeks ago, to 14k+ errors. Is this something we could fix or bother fixing? Will our SERP ranking suffer because of this? Hoping someone could shed some light on this issue. Thanks.
