Backlinks
-
Hi,
Does anyone have any experience with acquiring backlinks and their impact on DA and ranks? I am not asking about how to get backlinks, but how soon in your experience you noticed any positive results? Please, can you be specific? I.e. "once I acquired 8 backlinks from websites with DA 70+, my DA changed from x to x and my average rank improved in 4 positions overall/per page". Or any other tangible results.
Many thanks.

Yes, organic conversions and then organic traffic are where I would focus. Rankings should be monitored but don't obsess over them.
Typically origin of backlinks matters. Pick 5 of your top competitors and see which country their backlink profiles are from primarily and emulate that. The perfect backlink profile is always based on the niche and tends to vary.
I will look out for the other questions.

Thanks John.
So are you suggesting to focus on organic traffic growth and organic conversions growth as metrics for our backlinks strategy?
Also, does the origin of backlinks matter? For example if we want to improve our rank in Australia, do we need to look at acquiring Australian backlinks?
Yesterday I posted 2 more questions you might be able to help with. Can you please have a look at them and try to answer if you can? We are taking a very important decisions now and we need the right direction from the beginning. So if you have a minute and to spare, I will appreciate massively!
Many thanks.

I would recommend not focusing on improving your domain authority (it is ok to use for comparison sake) and focusing in more on organic traffic and conversions. There really is no answer that X number of backlinks will lead to X traffic increase in X amount of time for every client. There are hundreds of outside factors that can influence how quickly you will see positive results.
I have seen backlinks help push up rankings in as little as 1 month and some cases as long as 6 months. No two backlinks are created equal so the quality, niche relevancy, the competition in your niche, and your content will all be variables in this. Competition especially is a big factor. I recommend doing a full-scale competitor analysis to help determine the quantity and quality of backlinks you will need to rank in your specific scenario.
Here is my post to help that process: https://mza.seotoolninja.com/blog/competitor-analysis-for-seo

Alexa sees a link as backlink to my website which I attached on Upwork inbox.(?)
When I check the backlinks for my website on Alexa, I noticed that , there's a backlink from Upwork, and when I clicked that link, I realized that it's the link of my Upwork inbox and I entered my login credentials to access that page. My question is : How it is possible for Alexa to get that link which I need to enter my details to access the page?

Are backlinks the reason for my site's much lower SERP ranking, despite similar content?
Hi all, I'm trying to determine why my site (surfaceoptics.com) ranks so much lower than my competitor's sites. I do not believe the site / page content explains this differential in ranking, and I've done on-site / on-page SEO work without much or any improvement. In fact I believe my site is very similar in quality to competitor sites that rank much higher for my target keyword of: hyperspectral imaging. This leads me to believe there is a technical problem with the site that I'm not seeing, or that the answer lies in our backlink profile. The problem is that I've compared our site with 4 of our competitors in the Open Site Explorer and I'm not seeing a strong trend when it comes to backlinks either. Some competitors have more links / better backlink profiles but then other sites have no external links to their pages and lower PA and DA and still outrank us by 30+ positions. How should I go about determining if the problem is backlinks or some technical issue with the site?

Backlinks from unindexed pages - disavow ?
Hi I was analyzing my sites's backlinks and see a lot of the domains are not indexed by google.

I assume google has unindexed them - may be these domains are penalized. Should I request removal of my site's link from these pages ? What is the recommended approach in such a case? Thank you for your inputs.0 -
Backlinks that we have if they are 404?
Hi All, Backlinks that we have if they are 404? Open site explorer shows 1,000 of links and when I check many are 404 and those are spammy links which we had but now the sites are 404 I am doing a link profile check which is cleaning up all spammy links Should i take any action on them? As open site explorer or Google still shows these links on the searches. Should we mention these URL's in disallow in Google webmaster. Thanks

Can backlinks from advertising cause a traffic drop?
Hi, I recently noticed that our organic traffic has started to drop and maybe coincidently our adwords traffic has increased. I was asked to investigate the drop. I know that from the google update that unnatural backlinks would be penalized so I thought it might be the backlinks from a site that we advertise on because of the sheer number we have required from them in the last month. Would you think that would be the cause? if not, what could it be? and if it is, how do I go about correcting it as fast as possible? Any Help with this would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks, Colin

How can I create an accurate backlink profile?
With Google's emphasis on punishing over-optimization I would like to make sure I keep a close eye on my backlink profile. Link Detective is a great tool, however, for sites which I know have thousands of backlinks in WMT and MajesticSEO, OSE only finds a handful--maybe 10%. How can I trust the information I get from OSE to provide me with actionable data when the raw numbers of backlinks are so far off when compared to the other databases.

Is creating backlinks to Google places pages worth the time and money involved?
I have worked on a website and organically it is starting to do fine. The website itself is on the right track. Now, the places page, could use a little improvement. I did make sure it has the right categories, has all unique pictures and videos, it does have a good amount of reviews and even citations from other local directories, and even the website links to it. It does show up for some local searches but I would like it to dominate more. I've heard that if I've built links to that Google Places local page from other sources, it would rank higher and perform better. Is that true? Any other tips and tricks to make it perform better? Thank you

Backlink: External blog Vs. Internal blog. Which is the best?
Hi, some weeks ago a created a blog: mykeyword.wordpress.com Some one told me that it has got more trust that a "normal" www.mykeyword.com
Technical SEO | | Greenman
Is it true? So, i wrote some articles and dropped a guide (linking inside to mysite.com) to blog. My question is:
Right now i'm writing a lot of article ad i'm looking for the best channel where publish my content (post with link inside). My focus is improving quantity and quality of backlinks. Which way must i use? 1. Use my mykeyword.wordpress.com (give freshness to blog and new backlink)
2. Create ad internal blog mysite.com/blog and add article (without link?)
3. "Don't lose time" - Put new article only in external blog that will link to my site. I must manage a lot of new sites and i should increase SERP position. So, i have to choose the right way right now. Thanks 😉0
