Do I need a separate Google Analytics ID for a subdomain on my website?
-
Hello Everyone,
I would like to know if I need a separate Google Analytics ID for a subdomain on my website?
I have a sub-domain within my website, and the software for the site on the subdomain is asking for a Google Analytics ID. Should I be using the same Google Analytics ID as the main domain or should I be creating a new Google Analytics profile or ID?
Thanks.

Hey RyanUK,
Personally, I don't think you need to have different tracking ID's at all. You can easily separate the traffic each domain receives by appending the host-name to your reports.
The sub-domains in general, due to being on the same overall domain, should auto link up without the need for cross domain tracking.
How do you have your Google Analytics set up? Standard or via Google Tag Manager?
Cheers

Hey Ryan,
Here's an article that details how to configure a primary domain and a subdomain in analytics (I tried to find the most recent one): https://www.directom.com/google-analytics-subdomain-tracking/
If you have trouble with that, I would encourage you to call Google AdWords phone support. Believe it or not, they'll help you with these types of configurations. Ideally, you'll want to be doing AdWords too but you could just create an AdWords account. They'll ask you for your id number upon answering your call.
I hope this helps!

Its one website as far as I am concerned. I need a subdomain for online courses and another subdomain for a community forum.

Hey Ryan - do you want to track them a separate websites or as one? I assume the second option but want to make sure. Thanks!

Website excluded from indexing, google-selected canonical: N/A
The google search console revealed to me that none of my pages was indexed, all pages are listed in the 'excluded' section "duplicate, google chose different canonical than user".
Reporting & Analytics | | Fibigrus
But in the URL-inspection tab it shows me google-selected canonical: N/A Indexing and crawling is both allowed. Don't know how to get my pages to be indexed correctly. (by the way, they do NOT exist in other languages, so that can't be a reason why google might think they are a duplicate. There's definitively no other version of those pages available)0 -
Setting up goals in Google Analytics
Hello! This question is seems so obvious that I'm also ashamed to ask... almost. If the goal of a website is to have a visitor complete a contact form, when setting up the Goal in Google Analytics (as a "URL destination") the URL of choice would be the form's thank you page, correct? Because that's the page that proves the visitor completed the task we want them the achieve. Right? Thanks!

Google Analytics - Tracking a Goal from 1 Domain to Another
Hi there, been combing this page for some answers - https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/gajs/gaTrackingSite but can't seem to figure it out. Scenario - Site A Site B Currently have 2 different GA accounts set up on each. Is it possible to Track a Goal that happens on Site B, that comes from Site A - In Site A Reports? So say, Site A has a Newsletter, directing them to Site A but promoting Site B - i'd like to track the effectiveness of the newsletter. Site A is running a white label of Site B service. Thoughts?
