No index for http version of website
-
Hi, I've had a message from Google search console to say the sitemap for the http version of my site is tagged as no index.
As the https version is indexed, do I need to change the http version to be indexed as well? Do I need to keep the http version of the site in search console alongside the https version, or should I remove it? Advice appreciated!

No you don't need to change anything. In-fact, you actively DON'T want the HTTP sitemap to be feeding Google a list of HTTP URLs, which I am sure you are trying to steer Google away from. Only feed Google the HTTPS URLs, delete the HTTP sitemap from search console if you can so that it doesn't keep flagging false positives, and feeding Google bad (insecure) URLs

check website meta text and again writer full meta text/htaccess/robot.txt then upload in site

Site has 302 redirects for HTTP to HTTPS when it should be 301
Hey all, In the latest Moz crawl, certain pages on our website have shown as having 302 redirects for the http to https, but not all. There should be a 301 solution, but wanted to see if anyone had any advice or guidance. Thanks!

Google Indexed = 35, 445 pages, Bing Indexed = 243 pages... Why?
Dear MozSquad, Can anyone check our site and let me know if there's anything super apparent that would cause Bing to treat us like a bum on the street? I recently made some structural changes which really helped with Google, but Bing didn't even budge. It's a lot harder to keep up with all the SEO initiatives I have in mind with it being a small start-up where I'm responsible for planning the entire Internet Marketing campaign, giving constant input on UX and site design, etc on top of 900 other things, so I figured it'd be a good time to use The Moz to help a brother out. Ideas? Domain: homeandgardendesignideas.com (yeah, I know it's a little long =P)

Sitemap error is reported when using a sitemap-index generated by Yoast
I've installed the Yoast SEO Plugin for wordpress and I've setup the sitemaps using it. I saw the tool has generated the Sitemap index file http://www.phraseexpander.com/sitemap_index.xml with different indexes for posts and pages I've submitted that to google and it's indexed. When I use Seoquake to check my website, I see that it says that the sitemap is missing (in fact http://www.phraseexpander.com/sitemap.xml) is returning 404. Shall I fix that? Shall I do a 301 redirect in my .htaccess file to http://www.phraseexpander.com/sitemap_index.xml Thanks.

Should I be afraid to launch new website?
I have been redesigning my website in the last 2 months. I'm almost ready to finally launch it. Now I wonder how it will effect my rankings. I have taken a few measures to avoid problems such as: I kept the page names as they are. I kept the structure of the website Optimized the structure of my pages which should benefit my SEO rather then harm it. Yet, if I would experience a drop in rankings, could I regain my rankings by switching to the previous website?

Why isn't Google indexing me?
Recently got handed off a .org site for a quasi state agency here in Michigan. Turns out the developer had the site live for the past six months but left the noindex, nofollow tag on everything so the site was invisible to search engines. Obviously we wiped all of those things a couple weeks ago when we got started, added all of our sitemaps to bing/yahoo/google webmaster tools and we've already started getting indexed by yahoo and bing and showing up for branded terms...but NOTHING from Google. WMT says our pages are all indexed, but we aren't showing up for anything in search and we don't seem to be indexed at all. Granted, if this site was brand new and didn't have any links I could see us taking a little time to get found, but this site has very good .gov and .edu links, plus we've built some other solid links to it since we've launched and Google continues to ignore it. I haven't seen this before, but could Google still be ignoring us from the months of noindex, nofollowing? If so, any tips on how to get back in teh Google's good graces here?
