Channel Conversion Rates
-
Hey Mozzers - i was hoping to have a discussion with you guys on conversion rates and would love any feedback on comparative metrics. I plan on keeping my client anonymous and feel free to do the same if you would like.
Lets start with some background. This client is an online retailer selling golf training ads, the products range from $20-40, he is based out of the US and this site is targeting consumers (B2C).
So far i have assisted him with some site analysis and setting up some pay-per-click campaigns. I feel like his site is doing pretty well conversion-wise but i have little experience with conversion metrics with ecommerce (mostly just lead generation, etc).
Here is a quick break down on channel conversion rates:
PPC: 0.8% - 1.7%
Organic: 6.8% - 15%
Direct: 6.2% - 13%His overall site conversion rate is between 2-3%
So my question is to you guys. Is this average, above, or below in your past experiences? Based on my research a site conversion rate of 2-3 is pretty good for ecommerce, however i felt like my PPC conversion rate is kind of low.
Thanks for the insight - Kyle

Joshua - thank you for the reply, it is always helpful for me to compare stats with others in the industry.
I also found it odd that the direct wasn't higher, however they domain has a great keyword in it so they benefit quite a bit from that. Other than that they have a pretty low domain authority (less than 20).

Hi Kyle,
I hope this will be helpful in gauging your sites performance, but I have a feeling that it will be hard to compare because the conversion rates change so much depending on the target audience and types of users. Anyway, here it is for what it is.
I have three sites that I currently am involved with that are in the eCommerce realm. Two of which are mostly B2B and one that is both B2B and B2C.
Our lowest performing CPC is .39% while our highest is 3.53% (varies wildly depending on site and referrer, google/bing/etc)
Our lowest performing organic is .89% while our highest is 4.55% (again same stipulations as above)
Direct 1.6% - 5.5% depending on the site.
From what I have seen (and I know we can improve) your organic numbers look really good (maybe high?). while CPC might be a little low. Your direct looks really good as well, although I find it interesting that it is below your organic.
Hope that gives some gauge for you.

Google Analytics Offline Conversions
Hi All, I've been searching the net for this for a while now and haven't found any suitable solutions. I'm looking at a way of importing conversions into Analytics. For a business I work with there is currently a split between Contact Form Submissions (we can track) Mobile Website Calls (we can track) Offline Calls (visit the website via AdWords and pickup the phone) We currently record all call data so we can see just how many calls we are getting from the campaign, and we take notes on keywords and time of call. So manually we can figure out the conversion rate. I was wondering if there was a way to mark certain visits as conversions manually? I'm pretty sure there isn't, but figured this would be the best place to ask! Thanks in advance!

AdWords/Analytics Paid Search conversions not matching up - any idea why?
Hi all, Any ideas as to why AdWords and Analytics are showing different Paid Search conversion numbers for me when I check on a daily basis? Both accounts are linked, they share the same destination URLs to trigger a conversion, some days each reflects the same amount of conversions, then some days it's anything from 1-5 conversions different (Analytics is always the one to show more). Thanks M

How Do You Remove the "Google Site Stats" Tag from a Conversion Page
Our company does not want it up there. Is there a way to remove it without have to change the conversion tracking code? It's quite a pain given our internal processes to overhaul many conversion codes. Is there an easy way to do this so that we can simply remove the tag?

Google Analytics and WorldPay - Tracking Sales/Conversions
Hi there, I recently remember reading somewhere that tracking code could be used to monitor sales/conversions of eCommerce payments that went through WorldPay. I've been looking around the web for news stories, forums, discussions, but all seem to be from 2007 - 2011; was just wondering if anyone knew any up-to-date info they could point me towards? Thanks

Best method to measure conversions (Adwords)
Hi, I am a new member and fairly new to PPC. I have a service based site (car detailing) and I have been using Adwords for quite sometime now. My primary question is about tracking conversions. I have dedicated landing pages for each one of my ad groups (and some kw specific landing pages). When a potential customer lands on one of my pages - lets say my "car wash" page, they have the option to: Call from that page to book a service (I have a trackable number on that pages) Book online (its a 3rd party booking app with no tracking functionality) Continue to my main site for find out about our other services (I have a few outbound links set up on the page) But, I am running into problems when it comes to conversion tracking. I am not doing any call tracking via Adwords, so what would be the most effective way for me to track conversions? A) Should I set up event tracking in order to count outbound clicks as conversions? B) Should I remove all outbound links from that landing page and use the custom phone number on that page? My fear with this option is that customers may want to see additional services that are on my primary site. Therefore, I don't want to limit them to that landing page only. C) Should I use Adwords call tracking? If I go this route, I would have to decrease my campaign budgets in order to offset the call tracking costs. Or maybe there is another option I should consider that someone with more experience could offer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Bounce Rate Over 90%
Hi, Can anyone tell me why I get a bounce rate of over 90%. Targeted keywords bring in traffic which is very relevant to someone wishing to make a personal injury claim, so I'm dumbfounded. I have had conversions over the last few weeks, but they now seemed to have stopped, which could only be an impact of the high bounce rate. I test the form everyday and it works fine. My site address http://www.acompensationclaim.com Any ideas? Thanks David

Help with getting no conversions
Ok, so let me give you the breakdown here. So I have recently optimized this product and am trying to focus on getting this product to sell a couple times a week before I move onto the next product with SEO. Google has not updated my title and description yet to see if my SEO has been even somewhat successful, so I am waiting on that. While I have been waiting, I started a PPC campaign. I would say over the last 7 days I have had about 250 visitors to this page, however, none of them resulted in any questions about the product, no account signups, no orders that are incomplete and worst of all, No Sales. Here is a copy of the add. RC Nitro Truck 60MPH $219Buy Now Remote Control Nitro RC Truck. Redcat Racing Volcano S30 60 MPHwww.rcnitroshop.com Can someone look at the page and tell me if it looks fishy or if there is a reason you would not buy from this page? Any advice would be appreciated. Also, if you notice any critical SEO errors that would also help! I ran the on-page optimization through SEOMOZ and i got a letter grade of an A with everything 100%. Thanks in advance. I have been working 5-10 hours a day on this website and on eBay and would love for it to actually pay off someday lol. The links to the page are in that add above. Just click on that to take a look.
