Does an AdWord campaign affect your rankings?
-
Say for instance you are in the business of "lawn mower repair," and you are ranking for that keyword. If you were doing an AdWord campaign on that keyword, would that also affect your organic rankings in the SERPs for that keyword?
-
I would say it does but in a indirect way - more traffic = more brand based queries etc and more talk about brand on web etc
Also google sees bounce rates etc which do play a roll
So the short answer in my a opinion is yes but not enough to use it as a seo tactic

In my experiences there is no direct correlation with ppc and organic. However, i have noticed one indirect benefits of pay-per-click overall. When running a ppc campaign through Google they re-scan your site very often to create your keyword's quality score. Due to this increase in crawling i have found that new content gets indexed faster.
Once again, this is an indirect benefit. In no way does a quick indexation mean a higher rank. it just simply means you turn around on releasing content can be faster.

I see you are a Guru and with absolute respect to that:
Once I saw an approvement in original rankings. I established a site (one of my early ones) that was hosted on a free server and had not much to do with seo but i ran adwords. The term I was advertising for got only 200 searches a month and it was a Hungarian term, so did not run on Google.com but on .hu. Once I realized that my site appeared to be 6th in the serp. When I turned adwords off a month later it disappeared from the to 60. Maybe it had some other reason for that but I could not discover any reason besides adwords.

If you were doing an AdWord campaign on that keyword, would that also affect your organic rankings in the SERPs for that keyword?
NO. Absolutely not. Never.
We have been running adwords since it was new.
We run adwords in the same SERPs where we hold top organic rankings.
We have turned the ads off frequently - sometimes seasonally, sometimes when we went out of town, sometimes when we are busy, sometimes when we are low on merchandise, sometimes when we don't want to work as hard... and we also have gotten aggressive for short or long periods. All of that time the organic rankings are unchanged.
There is no tie between adwords and your rankings in the organic SERPs. NONE.

I examined the above question and read various answers. Some say no. I once experienced effect however just with low traffic keywords. I say if it does not affect your ranking directly it surely does indirectly as it increases the traffic level of your site and as we knoe traffic is a ranking factor. I have also read a book on adwords and it stated that sometimes adwords links are read as original links from a site. That is another opinion but I do doubt that and have not come upon similar issue so far.

Google Adwords GEO Targeting Via Checkin
Hi There, I have done a fair bit of searching for the answer to my question but to no avail, maybe it's not possible. With Google AdWords is it possible to target check-ins to premises. So say someone visits a place or checks-in, they get to a see an Ad. I can't see how it would be possible but maybe they have Googled the business, then they walk in and Google shows the ad based on IP address. So for example. people who visited the Rose & Crown in York could be shown hangover cures the next day, whilst they are laid-up in bed? Cheers Mozzers. Neil

Looking for an intensive Adwords training classes in San Francisco or a good online resource!
Hi everyone, It may not be the right forum to post such a request but I am looking for an intensive advanced adwords training program within the next 2 weeks in the San Francisco area. I am adwords certified since last week but I have never really managed multiple accounts before and I am looking for something that would get me up to speed. I have already researched online and found that Cardinal Path, Luna Metrics and Academy X are offering such classes but nothing this month. Do you guys have any suggestions for a good intensive training program around the San Francisco Area that offers classes this month? Online resources are welcomed as well. Thanks for letting me know!

Adding Coremetrics Tags with Google Adwords
Hello, I would like to know if it's possible to add Coremetrics tracking tags in Google Adwords while the auto tagging functionnality is on. The point of doing this is to be able to track in both Analytics systems the performance of the PPC campaigns while still having Adwords to use Google Analytics conversion data. Thanks, Guillaume

A heads-up about problems with the new Google Adwords Keyword Planner tool
I noticed that when I was using this tool, the data in the tables would change, often by a lot (up to 50%) when I sorted the columns. (Did nothing else, just sorted.) Since I was starting a new campaign and really needed data, I contacted Google about this and was told: "I understand that the estimates are changing in the Keyword Planner tool when you sort the data. I reproduced this on my end as well and was able to confirm that this is a known technical issue on our end." "Unfortunately the information in the Keyword Planner Tool is currently not the best source of data for your analysis." They then went on to suggest I just test things blindly. So, what do you do to get information about keyword traffic and ppc estimates?

Adwords for Video Question?
Hi I'm just wondering how specific the targeting can be for an adwords campaign that targets youtube videos. Specifically if the following scenario is possible... If I was to promote a car alarm, is it possible to have my adverts show up before news stories of car thefts? i.e. can I pick and choose individual videos? Thanks

Linking Adwords to Analytics for Multiple Clients
what is the best practice for this? Right now everything is under many different passwords and logins, yet conforming them all to one comes with a bunch of loopholes and bumps along the way. Does anyone know how to get a few clients under the same username and password (linking the AdWords and Analytics for each of them)?

Your thoughts on Pay-Per-Rank (Performance based) SEO firms
I am seeing several Pay-Per-Rank (performance based) SEO firms popping up lately. The model is interesting. They only take on the work that they know they can achieve good results. Most seem advertise white hat SEO. Overall thougts? Anyone have any experience with these firms? Any recommendations?
