What are Benefits to Develop Large HTML Sitemap?
-
I've developed very simple HTML sitemap on Vista Stores. Today, I was checking Magento extensions and come to know about such a great extension. That will help me to create such a large HTML sitemap on my website similar to following one.
http://wiredsport.com/sitemap/
http://www.breathalyzers.com/sitemap/
Which is best structure for HTML sitemap & Which are benefits to develop big HTML sitemap with all pages?
-
I got your point. What you think about page rank? Can I pass maximum page rank to my product pages. It may increase my organic ranking during long trail keywords.
-
A well organised natural site structure and navigation system will ensure that page rank 'flows' all the way down to product pages.
No need for including products on sitemap (though you can include them in your XML sitemap).

Hi Aran,
You have given me such a good example of HTML sitemap. But, I was thinking to distribute page rank at product page level. So, It may help me to improve ranking over my product pages. What you think about it?

Hi CommercePundit, A sitemap is a a navigational tool that lists the web pages of a website, which is used by search engines and visitors to help look for pages within the website. Sitemaps are typically organized in a hierarchical style and provide indexing information for search engine bots.
Site maps are very useful for a website. there are 2 types of websites search engine site map and User site map XML Sitemap & HTML Sitemap.
XML Sitemap of a website will be created and submitted to webmaster's console in order to ping the search engines crawler to index the inner-pages of the website. An HTML site map is a page within your site that links to all the other important pages on your site. HTML site map is important, two main reasons i am telling you why?It helps search engines crawl and understand your site, and it helps human visitors browse your site more efficiently
The effects of both sitemap in SEO is also crucial.
Overal multiple sitemaps helps to increase in indexation & traffic.
I hope that your query had been solved.

Hi,
Personally I see no benefit of having such a indepth HTML site map, its very unlikely that a user is going to scroll through hundreds of almost identical looking lines of products to find what they want. I think a huge sitemap as showin in your examples only serves to confuse people and make it difficult to find what they want (the opposite of what a sitemap is actually for!)
Listing the site structure down to category level/sub category levels is plenty.
Here is an example of a HTML sitemap done well http://www.argos.co.uk/static/StaticDisplay/includeName/sitemap.htm
Hope that helps
Regards
Aran

SITEMAP - Does <changefreq>and <image:title>have any apreciable effect?</image:title></changefreq>
Hi everyone. It was hard to find some actual evidence that some of the atributes to be declared in a sitemap have some real impact.
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Gaston Riera
Particularly, im interested in these two: <changefreq></changefreq> and**image:title</image:title>** I've used them in a few cases just to check their effect and couldnt see any.
Do you have any experience with these? Or any other atribute that might be helpful, in order to create a more accurate and effective sitemap? Also, this could be a great topic to create a new Moz Blog post, the one about sitemap is 8years old.0 -
Value in creating an 'All listings' sitemap?
Hello, I work for the Theater discovery website, theatermania.com. Users can browse current shows on a city-by-city basis, such as New York: http://www.theatermania.com/new-york-city-theater/shows/ My question is, is there any SEO benefit in us creating a single page that lists all shows (both current and non-current) across the US? My boss mentioned that this could help our long tail results, but I'm not so sure.

Large-Scale Penguin Cleanup - How to prioritize?
We are conducting a large-scale Penguin cleanup / link cleaning exercise across 50+ properties that have been on the market mostly all for 10+ years. There is a lot of link data to sift through and we are wondering how we should prioritize the effort. So far we have been collecting backlink data for all properties from AHref, GWT, SeoMajestic and OSE and consolidated the data using home-grown tools. As a next step we are obviously going through the link cleaning process. We are interested in getting feedback on how we are planning to prioritize the link removal work. Put in other words we want to vet if the community agrees with what we consider are the most harmful type of links for penguin. Priority 1: Clean up site-wide links with money-words; if possible keep a single-page link Priority 2: Clean up or rename all money keyword links for money keywords in the top 10 anchor link name distribution Priority 3: Clean up no-brand sitewide links; if possible keep a single-page link Priority 4: Clean up low-quality links (other niche or no link juice) Priority 5: Clean up multiple links from same IP C class Does this sound like a sound approach? Would you prioritize this list differently? Thank you for any feedback /T

Need a mobile XML Sitemap?
We're going to be running our mobile site on the same domain and generating content for users on mobile devices with style sheets (will not have m.domain). The content on our URLs will be the exact same. My question is if we need to create a mobile XML Sitemap to submit to the search engines. Do we need to create the Sitemap, that will contain the exact same URLs as our non-mobile Sitemap, and just include <mobile><mobile>tags around the URLs? Or do we need to create a mobile Sitemap at all to alert the search engines that we have mobile content?</mobile></mobile> Thanks!

What is the best method for segmenting HTML sitemaps?
Sitemaps create a Table of Contents for web crawlers and users alike. Understanding how PageRank is passed, HTML sitemaps play a critical role in how Googlebot and other crawlers spider and catalog content. I get asked this question a lot and, in most cases, it's easy to categorize sitemaps and create 2-3 category-based maps that can be linked to from the global footer. However, what do you do when a client has 40 categories with 200+ pages of content under each category? How do you segment your HTML sitemap in a case like this?
