Webpage is ranking on google.ie / google.co.uk but not google.com?
-
One of our site webpage appears to be found in the first few pages on google.ie / google.co.uk but not on google.com. Is there such a thing being penalised on a specific Google domain?
Traffic is healthy despite this but I want to rank well for the page in google.com.
Any ideas?

Single-page penalties are uncommon but possible. Is the page indexed? That's step one. If it is, are you seeing duplicates when you search your index (use the "site:" operator) for the page's title? If so, it could be a filter. If you're indexed but not ranking even on exact-match terms (in quotes), it could be a penalty.

Thanks guys.
It appears one of our page seems to be penalised as it is not appearing in top 1000 in .Com or .IE. Could a specific page be penalised and not affect the rest of the site?
The page is showing in Google Places on the first page which I think would not show if it was penalised.
BUT I can't see how this page would be penalised..

You should check if you are ranked within the top 1000 pages on google.com (add &num=100 to the URL to see 100 SERP results at a time). If you are ranked just not in the top spots, as Irving said you are merely not geotrageted for the US in the eyes of Google.
However, if your site is not in the top 1000 spots it is likely because of a specific google penalty.
-
So you're not penalized, you're filtered by Google to show for your proper region based on the location you are providing.
IF it's a travel type of site or something that would appeal to a lot of people in the US potentially visiting IE then I would try to geotarget for the US.
Whoever your target market is should be your focus. It's good that it is a .com otherwise a .IE wouldn't rank in Google.com well. I would consider purchasing the domain as well and play around with setting a IE targeted site with that while casting the wider net for your .com site.

@Irving Weiss
a) No geo targeting set as we offer services in Ireland that applies to anyone globally that would/want to visit Ireland.
b) Webpage does show Irish address as well as local business address on website.
c) domain is .com
Any input would be great.

a) Are you geo targeting in google webmaster tools?
b) Is your site regional and does it include things like addresses from that area?
c) Is your domain a .com or a .co.uk for example?

Google Open Graph
Hi I wanted to find out what makes Google select a site to show the answer to a question you type in search? For example, typing What is COSHH, brings up this site http://rospaworkplacesafety.com/2013/01/08/what-is-coshh-about-coshh/ and this answer top of Google SERPs. COSHH stands for 'Control of Substances Hazardous to Health' and under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002, employers need to either prevent or reduce their workers' exposure to substances that are hazardous to their health.8 Jan 2013 Is it their open graph mark up only? Recent Algorithm Update Impact on Rankings
I've read that the most recent algorithm update by Google is targeting dodgy links. I have a client's website who within the last few days has been smashed out of of top positions for the most competitive keywords (and many others). I'm worried that the site has been penalised, however I can't understand why it would be. The site only has 11 domains linking to it (65 links total) and a lot of these links are coming from the same websites that link to all of our other web clients and none of them have experienced this sudden and significant drop in rankings. Does anyone know if Google is targeting a specific type of site, or how I can determine if my client's website has been penalised? I've not made any significant changes recently to the site's content or meta data, however rankings have remained steady for months now. It just seemed to happen overnight that they dropped off everything (eg. middle of page 2 to page 8 of search results for some of the better keywords) Thank you in advance for any assistance!

Video SEO <video:uploader>sitemap optional tag for Google+</video:uploader>

Alternately, my site (and each page, thanks to Yoast SEO for WP) does have the rel="author" linked to Google+ for every page, which may make the sitemap entry moot, but I have not yet seen this work in that manner. If you know it does or does not work, please let me know. Please let me know if you have any better information or specific experience. Also, if I elect to edit my sitemaps (provided by Wistia.com and BitsontheRun) to include this tag, what XML Sitemap Tool might work well to add these tags properly? Seems there is lots of XML Sitemap tools, but few really address Video Sitemap options specifically. Thanks, [email protected] www.apalytics.com0 -

Site Usage Statistics and organic ranking
I'm not sure if anyone has tested this properly but i'm begining to suspect that google is using site usage statistics as a site quality guide and ultimately as a ranking variable. The this what i've seen so far on one of my sites (site A) Week 1= bounce rate (83.88%), Avg time on site (0:0:57), Pages/visit (1.28) no changes made to the site apart from the usual link building. Week 2: Traffic drops by 30%, Keywords generating traffic drops by 39%. Bounce rate (87.25%), Avg time on site (0:0:43), pages/visit (1.21). I replaced all affiliate links on my homepage to internal pages where the chunk of the content is and did a reconsideration request. Week 3: Traffic goes up by 30%, keywords generating traffic goes up by 65%, Bounce rate (30.41%), Avg time on site (0:3:02), Pages/visit (3.74). This is not the most scientific test but surely google must be using these variables and a ranking factor? Anyone seen something along these lines or have thoughts on it?
