Rankings like this mean what?
-
I have just redirected our old domain to our new domain using a sitewide 301 redirect. That was on Dec 6. Since none of the pages are showing in the serps unless you search specifically for a paragraph in quotes. But I am also very concerned because scraper sites are coming up before my site. Here are a few examples:
and here is one I just took off the site and put somewhere else:
and yet another:
Notice the pattern, all of the results have my site (the originator of the content) at the bottom. I am very concerned with this as I'm sure this means Penalty up the ..... something.
What is my best move at this point? Is there any chance of getting out of this?
Just be thankful you are not in this position, it sucks. But I'm still positive I can do something with this site.
Thanks

May have been a mistake but the main reason is that the .com was a hybrid mix of html and wordpress and ever since I added the blog as 'part' of the site it only made the Panda issues worse. I was originally hit by Panda 1.0 and have never been able to shake it off. If you look at the wayback machine for the site you will see that it has completely changed. Then Panda 20 struck and left me holding my tail meaning that 98% of my pages were not even showing up in the serps. So I was thinking that moving only the wordpress install and then porting over the html pages into wordpress will give it a fresh start. But since I have done that, now nothing is ranking, last week the home page at least appeared in thh top 5 for the brand term. But that has me concerned because the majority of the backlinks are branded or at least the url, so if I can't even rank for my own brand it seems like this whole change killed it completely at this point.
You mentioned 6 weeks for one of your changes, perhaps I still need to be patient with it.
Now that the site has been ported into wordpress on the .net, perhaps it's best to move that back to .com since the url has a pretty solid MozRank compared to .net. I know doing that will completely screw up the rankability for month or three though. So I really am at a standstill as to how to procede with this project to get back into big G. Every other traffic source is doing fine, but for some reason as we all know that G traffic just tends to taste better.

Weird...I just checked out both in OSE. Everything seems like you did it the right way at first glance. I had a site that I was working on do something similar...only for one redirect but it was a high traffic word that we ranked well for. It sucks to say the least. It's taken about 6 weeks for the new page to start showing a page authority close to the previous page. If you don't mind me asking, why change from the .com to the .net?

Hey Shane, thanks for the response. Yes the 301 is page for page, not all pointing to the main url.
To me it seems that none of the link juice is being passed which is strange because even a search for my brand has the site either #4 or 5 and no other pages are getting serp luv at the moment, even though a site:burnworld.net has all the pages in that index and webmaster tools shows them all crawled from the sitemaps. It's just none are showing in the main index.
Andy advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hey Rob,
Sounds awful. When you say site wide 301 redirect, is every page getting redirected to the corresponding page on the new URL? Or are all your old pages redirecting to your new domain's home page?
There was a related topic(url below) and the first response is similar to what I have seen.
http://www.seomoz.org/q/lost-all-ranking-after-site-wide-301-redirect
If that doesn't help, feel free to post the url's(old and new) and I'll take a look.
Shane

What would the US traffic increase be for a website YoY if all Google SERP rankings remained the same?
This question has come up a few times with some of our clients and I've spent some time researching this question, but I can't find an answer online so hopefully, someone at MOZ has this data available to them with all the data they collect. The data points that would be needed to answer this question off the top of my head: Increase in the # of Google Searches in the US YoY The decrease in CTR for organic results "10 blue links" which take a searcher off of Google YoY, as Google continues to keep more searchers on Google.com with rich snippets, increased AdWords prominence, AdWords extensions, etc I'm sure this greatly varies per industry, but an average for all industries is all that is needed to answer this client question. Many thanks in advance and I've included a video which hopefully helps to better explain the search "plus/minus" that we can expect to see as SEOs in 2018. WF1yLlJC6LetnpbD3

A Sudden Drop in Keyword Ranking but why?
Hi, I wondered if anyone has ever experienced anything like this before, one of our customers has a website JDB Events (http://www.jdb-events.com/). When he first came to us he was using Fast Hosts and he was experiencing down time pretty much every day in periods of up to an hour. The first step before carrying out any SEO was to place the website on our VPS so that the downtime issue was resolved. It did resolve the issue and the speed of the website was also increased. My next issue was to address the length of the Title on the home page because it was 157 characters, I usually keep these to 70 characters. This is the old Meta Title: JDB Events Limited - Event, Production & AV Hire Specialists | The West Midlands Dance Floor Hire, LED Furniture, DJ, Disco Hire & Event Services Specialists Here is the my new Meta Title: JDB Events | LED Furniture Hire for Parties and Corporate Events I have attached a screenshot of the drop that I have experienced, would anyone recommend that it's ok to keep the title longer so that I can cram more search terms into it, I use Woo Rank as a bench mark and this recommends shortening the title but I would be interested in hearing anyone's views. Other steps that I have taken: Shortened the home page description WWW Resolve Added Robots.txt Crawled all of the pages for 404 errors etc The next step I'm thinking of taking is replacing the amended meta title and description for the old one and monitoring that, other than that I can't see why I have taken such a hit. Getting pretty good visits from the image result itself for past few days. But this image doesn't appear/rank anywhere in Bing and Yahoo search results. Can anyone tell any specific reason for the same? Any methods to follow? Any solution? Please guide me.

GWMT - "Tag Site For Child Directed Treatment" Effect On Search / Rankings?
Hi All, We have a client who has been directed to tag their site for "Child Directed Treatment" in Webmaster tools to comply with AdExchange policies. The site is, generally speaking, directed at those between the ages of 13 and 16 along with their parents, but does NOT collect any data (No sign in, login, signups etc). You can find out more about the specific tag here (unfortunately not much more about it) https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/3221080?hl=en Our concern is that we have never heard of this specific tag, and our client is asking us to let them know if that this will have no effect on search traffic or ranking. I can't find much in the way of anyone who HAS implemented this tag and the effects it has had on their site. They are ad supported, receive millions of unique hits a month, and the majority of their traffic is from branded keywords. Would love to hear from anyone with ANY experience or thoughts on this process and what to be aware of. Your assistance is muchly appreciated.

Does Page Load Time Affect SEO Rankings?
I was curious about how much page load times affect rankings. Here's what I did: I put together a lot of interactive media on specific landing pages Time-on-Page from organic visitors went from 50 seconds to average of 34 minutes Bounce Rate decreased by 20% Page Load time increased from 1 second to 6 seconds and at peak times to 8 seconds (on 56KB test) In the meantime the page was re-indexed and re-cached My question is three-fold: Would the time on page give higher rankings for keyword Would decreased bounce rate enhance rankings? Would the page load time decrease rankings? Did anyone do a similar test? What were the results?
