How Do Queries And Impressions Relate?
-
For one of our keywords, i have 2,500 impressions this past month, but there were only 1,300 queries according to Google's keyword planner. How can I have more impressions than queries? If anything, I thought it would be the other way around. If someone could flush this out for me, I'd be incredibly grateful.
Thanks,
Ruben

As AutoBoof said, they're estimations from Google, not hard numbers. Ian from Portent did an interesting study with the numbers from GWT, where he laid out a pretty good case that GWT estimates are useless for your keywords.

I'm getting the impressions from Google Webmaster Tools, and (most likely) we'd only have local searches. Granted, there is a Tampa, Kansas, but other than that, "Tampa Car Accident Attorney" shouldn't really be popping up anywhere else.

Where are you getting your impression number? I know the Google keyword information is not to be trusted since the not provided issue.
A few things that could affect the numbers:
Both the Impression number in Google analytics and the average monthly search volumes from the keyword planner are estimates.
The volume numbers in the keyword planner tool are local only, so it does not include international searches.

Impressions clicks and traffic drop
Hello,
Reporting & Analytics | | SharonEKG
So something weird is going on, i run a few websites for clients, few different CMS. there has been a constant increase in traffic and ranking on one wordpress website and now the squarespace website is climbing up in rankings in the past few months. both has GTM installed for months, which has been optimized regularly.
for the wordpress website, in the past 2 weeks, starting June 4th, on google search console the clicks and impressions has started going down to the point that i lost 90% of clicks and impressions and traffic on analytics has started dropping a few days later, now at about 60% less traffic. for the Squarespace website, exactly the same thing, started June 7th and drop in clicks/impressions (though ranking increase) and then traffic drop. checked both GTM for recent changes incase of wrong code implement, no changes, no new major issues.
different hostings different CMS, no link between them. i just cant put my finger what is going on. anyone got any idea what is going on?0 -
Query on Google Experiment?
Hello All, I am doing A/B testing via google analytic experiment now my query is for my ecommerce site homepage i am trying to add newsletter in 3 different way so it will be variation A, Variation B and Variation C. So my query is what should be then original page? Currently there is no newsletter form on homepage. Do I consider original page as Variation A? i.e. abcd.com?variation-A as original page? Then google will decide winner between original page i.e. variation A and Variation B & C Thanks!

Buffer Link and Google Impressions
Afternoon, I noticed a spike in impressions over a couple of days in April, so I investigated Analytics to see where these were coming from. It appears these impressions were split between two URLs; one was a blog post, the other was the Buffer link to the blog post that we used on Twitter and Facebook. According to Analytics, this Buffer URL received 1000 impressions over two days, with an average SERP position of 16. This surely can't be right, can it? Is this just another Analytics quirk? After two days of a decent amount of impressions to this Buffer link, the amount of impressions dropped to pretty much zero. I know Tweets are now starting to rank, but this would be the Twitter URL, not the Buffer link to our blog post? Any ideas, Cheers, Lewis

Why am i getting a flux of increase in Impressions on my site & then it decreases
They guys. Hope everyone is having a great week. I wanted to get some inputs from you guys in regards to what is happening to my site that i quite don't understand. Every month or so i get this influx of high visibility with impressions for my keywords and then the impressions go away but my rankings still keep going up. Has anyone experienced this before and can give me some insight on what is going . Why do i get such a big jump and then it dies off only to return again a month later or 2 months later. I know you guys want probably some info from my site or from analytics or webmaster tools so i will provide as much as i can . For now i have included a screen shot. Google.co.uk (The Web or Pages From UK) Query?
Hi, Google.co.uk is ambiguous at best, it is geo targeted for the UK, however, by default all results incorporate "The Web" meaning outside the UK. If a user wishes to filter to "Pages From UK" then they have to click that specifically. Now my clients regularly ask me whether the traffic they are getting is from Google.co.uk (The Web) or Google.co.uk (Pages from UK) In analytics it combines these two as single source = Google.co.uk without any further breakdown, is there a way to figure this out. If I can split the figures then I can run necessary additional comparisons etc. Regards Ausaf
