How Do Queries And Impressions Relate?
-
For one of our keywords, i have 2,500 impressions this past month, but there were only 1,300 queries according to Google's keyword planner. How can I have more impressions than queries? If anything, I thought it would be the other way around. If someone could flush this out for me, I'd be incredibly grateful.
Thanks,
Ruben

As AutoBoof said, they're estimations from Google, not hard numbers. Ian from Portent did an interesting study with the numbers from GWT, where he laid out a pretty good case that GWT estimates are useless for your keywords.

I'm getting the impressions from Google Webmaster Tools, and (most likely) we'd only have local searches. Granted, there is a Tampa, Kansas, but other than that, "Tampa Car Accident Attorney" shouldn't really be popping up anywhere else.

Where are you getting your impression number? I know the Google keyword information is not to be trusted since the not provided issue.
A few things that could affect the numbers:
Both the Impression number in Google analytics and the average monthly search volumes from the keyword planner are estimates.
The volume numbers in the keyword planner tool are local only, so it does not include international searches.

Lower Impression higher clicks and CTR Compared to Previous Month?
I'm looking at our monthly traffic report and noticed that impressions were down in October compared to September but Clicks and CTR increased. I'm thinking it's because certain keyword increased in rank thus increase chances of a click through? Anyone else have any idea? Thank you in advance. Here is the data below: September:

Impression and click discrepancies in Search Console when filtering by date
I recently filtered query information by week and day. The impression and click totals were different depending on whether I looked at totals by a full weeks or by day. So for example, the impression and click totals when I choose a date range of monday-sunday are different when I look at impressions and clicks that same week by day and then add up the click and impression numbers to get a weekly total. At first i was expecting a slight difference since I know the data is heavily sampled but the totals were very different. Any explanations for this? Thanks

Why would on-site search queries show up as referral traffic?
The site analytics have been set up for over a year and suddenly last month there was a huge spike in referral traffic (1100+ sessions). Upon further investigation, the majority of it was coming directly from internally, either as mysite.com or search.mysite.com and the landing pages from the referrals are all /search.html?query=* This was never an issue before so I'm trying to understand what could have changed. I'm following up with the client to find out if their dev team may have changed anything related to their search engine but I'm wondering if there may be another explanation. A few notes: previously mysite.com / search.mysite.com were not in the Referral Exclusion list. I've added them now but this was never an issue before. Thanks in advance!

Organic impression limit. Has anyone seen this before or could give some insight?
Hey, I've been trying to grow my sites organic traffic but its like I've hit an organic cap on impressions. The site is about 4 months old and this period that I hit its limit I did not do any social shares or upload any new content. But is this normal? The site did get a Facebook like on the 26th of August. 3tzF2Cp

Queries vs. Organic Keywords in GA
Could someone explain how the following metrics in Google Analytics are being calculated: Search Engine Optimization (Acquisition): clicks on a certain query Campaigns (Acquisition): sessions on a certain keyword GA Help states that both 'queries' and 'organic keywords' refer to the actual string a user enters in Google Search. In that cases it seems that 'clicks' on a SERP result through a given query and 'sessions' through that very same query could not be miles apart. E.g.: Clicks through query X = 170 Sessions through organic keyword X = 8 Thank you for helping me out!

sessions end after 30 minutes and campaigns end after 6 months ) is it okay if i don't change this settings? As of now in my analytic i have configured google adwords, google webmaster and google merchant. In analytic i have also set custom alerts, goals, funnels, enchance link attribution, eCommerce etc but google analytics code i have already added in google tag manager, so i have to some manual changes for all such things? or all the things i.e goals, funnel, alerts etc will be transferred automatically at time of transferring the property? In Google tag manager i have already configured following things :- Tags :- Name - Google adwords Conversion Tracking b) Type - Adwords Conversion Tracking c) Rules - order sucessful page Name - Google Analytic Page view Tracking b) Type - Classic Google Analytics c) Rules - All pages Name - Google Analytic Conversion Tracking b) Type - Classic Google Analytics c) Rules - order sucessful page Name - Twitter Conversion Tracking b) Type - Custom HTML tag c) Rules - order sucessful page So at time of transferring property all this will be transferred automatically? Also at thank you page of my website I have scripts for goal setting, Affiliator, so there is no relation of this with migration right? Kind co-operation in the matter of highly be appreciated. Impression Drops Starting from June 2
In Webmaster Tools and the Linked Data in GA, we got huge bumps for some of our keywords this last week and subsequently were dropped from the face of the earth for other words were were tracking but not SEOing for. Basically for anything higher than 3rd page SERP, 30+ we were removed from Google search and we're no longer showing rankings for any of these words. Is this a new change as part of Penguin? I wonder b/c a lot of those words that were in the 60-100 in SERP were, as I mentioned, not focus SEO words but the backlinks were probably specific keywords, as we only have say 6 links and 4 are the same anchor text, this would put those words in the 60% over optimization penalty.
