Google automatically generating and verifying duplicate business pages?
-
Was on the phone with Google Support about duplicate, verified pages showing up and they said they're doing a "cleanse" in which an automated system is reviewing existing listings and making decisions as to how those look, which often results in a new page that Google then automatically verifies.
Their Support phone system has been bogged down with people calling in, but I'm not seeing anything when I search about this issue.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

Hi Jackson,
Thank you for the further details. They did help. Yes, this issue is being reported in the Google and Your Business Forum. Read this:
Google staffer Jade W. gives instructions regarding what to do.
Let me know if this helps, Jackson.

Hey Miriam,
The problem is for both Google+ for Business and in Google's Places for Business dashboard. The duplicate listings aren't showing up in the SERPs, because Google is deactivating one of the "duplicates."
So, let's say I claimed an unverified Google+ for Business page for A Generic Business. I verify the page, fill out all the info, add photos, etc. and it's live and listed on Google and looks splendid. All the info is correct, confirmed, etc.
Then, say, a week later, I log into my account and there's a red banner across the top of my Google+ for Business dashboard saying that my listing has been marked as a duplicate. A duplicate of what? As always, I searched and only found one, unclaimed listing and that's what I moved into my account and verified.
I called Google and asked what happened, and they said they're doing a "cleanse," in which they're looking over both Google Places for Business listings and Google+ for Business pages and making "automated adjustments."
I've had multiple clients' business pages marked with this red banner, because Google generated and automatically verified a true duplicate of what it thought the page should look like, and then just pushed my listing out.
I hope this explanation helps make a bit more sense.

Hi Jackson,
Can you provide any more detail about what you were trying to correct and what, precisely you are seeing in your dashboard and in the SERPs? What you're describing isn't ringing a clear bell with me, but maybe if you could provide more details, it would. Thanks!

I'm sorry I don't completely understand this question. Do you mean Google+ business pages? Are they showing up duplicate in SERP's and both are verified? I'd like to help, but I'm not sure what the problem is.

How can we better control GMB photos on Google SERPs?
Has anyone had luck choosing photos to display on SERPs for their Google My Business profile pages? Recently, Google has been overriding our photo choices and they've picked some terrible, user-submitted photos to show on SERPs. Our clients are understandably upset about this and we've tried flagging photos which works only a small % of the time. When we call Google they say they can luckily remove individual photos, but this isn't too scalable across dozens of clients we work with. How can we have better control over the photos that show on GMB listings? Any suggestions or best practices would be appreciated! Attached is an example of one we have showing on SERPs for a dealer. Hi guys, I'm trying to learn how to market my carpet cleaning website in Google but without much success. I'm reading marketing forums for over 6 months still can't achieve 1st page rankings. What I'm missing? Can you please check the site and tell me what to improve to get good rankings in Google UK? There are some competitors which are doing very well, for example competitor1, competitor2 but I can't figure out what they have which I don't? I'm not very experienced in marketing but hope someone here will guide me how rank my cleaning website on 1st page.

Google map listing #2
My website ranks well locally and nationally, but shortly I will be adding a second site to my business. We will be ranking it for different key words but the same location. My question is, is it possible to verify another google + & google maps listing for this site? And, what does google think about having two sites for the same business? Huge thanks in advance for any answers 🙂
