How to track seo campaign success fully?
-
Hi All,
What are the best ways to track a seo campaign successfully, other or including Google Analytic?
-
Search metrics is very good - both for your own site / sites and also to have a clear view on the competition.
Search metrics in combination with the seomoz tool set and google analytics is a "deadly" ombination

Thanks eyepaq for the tools. However we are already using Raven, Moz and obviously WMT but its nice to know about the search metrics.
-
Main Key points success indicator in my opinion are:
-
goals and conversions (you can track those with google analytics)
-
rankings for keywords that you track and monitor (Web master tools, seomoz, raven, search metrics)
-
visibility in search (search metrics, xovi, sistrix.com)
Hope it helps.

It depends on how you define success? There are a variety of tools out there that use the Google AP. One that we are particular fond of is RavenTools, but for some companies Google Analytics can simply do it all.
Google Analytics has a variety of tools that can help you out, including:
- Setting Goals
- Setting Ecommerce Funnels,
- Adwords Support
- Tracking User Navigation.
- Custom Link Creator
You name it and Analytics will probably do it. So again, it depends on what your goal is with your SEO campaign. If it's to increase site traffic, maybe Analytics can help you or if you're simply monitoring the growth of keywords we would suggest something like Raventools.

White branded website & SEO
Hi guys, We might have as a new project to create a white branded website for a big portal in our local market (which have a strongest domain than ours): the goal will be to reach their big mass of users and if possible, place this new site BEHIND us on the SERPs. Since the content of the new website will basically be the same, we are considering 2 solutions: to "noindex" the site on search engines, which is a "secure" way to not create ourself a competitor to allow the site to be indexed on search engines but using the "rel=canonical" strategy to not be affected by duplicate content penalties (For example, we plan to add rel='canonical' href='http://www.ourdomain.com/category1/product2' /> on their page http://newsubdomain.theirdomain.com/category1/product2) The main question is: can the white branded website rank better than our site even with the "canonical" strategy? (Of course we could "lower" the quality of the white-branded website pages to avoid that risk... but if somebody has better advices, we would be glad to hear them 😉 )

Training Recommendation for In House SEO
Hi, I'm a business owner who has been dabbling in SEO for years. I have a bright, capable employee with a development/coding background and I would like her to start doing full time SEO for me. (competitive analysis, link building and content marketing specifically - I like the strategy laid out here and would like her to implement it for me) What do you think is the best training resource for her to develop an in-depth understanding of SEO for my business? Any recommendations for specific courses she can take? Thanks.

I am stumped on this one... SEOs Assemble! *blows seo horn*
Hi guys, I am having a little trouble with one of my sites. I am trying to rank for a particular keyword, which is the same as my domain name. I have the keyword.com and my competitor has the keyword.co.uk Please see the screenshot below to show our back link comparisions. I don't understand how the mozrank and moz trust are calculated as I am getting beat here. They rank first in Google UK and I rank 10th. Both of our sites are well seo'd by professional companies so I am baffled how, with this profile and a diverse set of anchor text links, I am getting beat. I would really appreciate any help and advice on this guys... Thank you backlinkcomparison.jpg

Crazy SEO question (maybe I'm missing something?)
OK - so one of our customers just called us and told us an interesting story: A local SEO company called her yesterday to try to sell their services to her. She's in the process of starting SEO services with us, so she told them she wasn't interested. The sales guy told her that they were better (without even asking who she was currently using) and asked her for a term that she'd like to rank higher for. She said she'd like to rank higher for "spray in bedliners northern ky" and he said "Gotcha, call you tomorrow" He called back just now and told her to look at Google. She's now ranking number one for that term. He didn't have access to her site, so he wasn't able to change anything on her site. He won't tell her what he did, and told her it was legitimate - but it seems to me that with only off-site tactics, it'd be nearly impossible to white-hat her site to number one overnight... Any ideas what he's doing? First of all, we want to be able to tell her what he's doing, because she's curious. More importantly, we want to be sure he's not doing anything black-hat that's going to hurt our client's site. Thanks for your help, Mozzers!

SEO Strategy Questions on an International Domain
I'm going to try not to get too wordy with my question. Any help that could be provided would be much appreciated! We recently purchased a Germany-based company. They were using two domains (possibly more) for their website. Domain1 and Domain2. I'm sure for duplicate content reasons, only Domain1 ranked well. We in the US wanted to use Domain2, as it contains the brand name and would add legitimacy to our website in the US. Problem is that they also wanted to use it in Germany. So we split it using GeoDNS. Any international traffic goes to their server. Any US/Canada traffic goes to ours. From what I've read, we in the US should have the advantage here in terms of getting our pages indexed on Google, because Google will crawl from the US. So to Google, it should be as if we've changed all of our URLs. The problem is that Google has not recognized these changes for our homepage and it has been about a month since I submitted a sitemap and changed our geo-targeting to the US in Webmaster tools. They've picked up other pages of ours, but the Title and Meta descriptions for the homepage are in German still. We also rank about 23rd for our own brand name. Bing and Yahoo have picked up the changes without issue and we rank 2nd for our brand name. My other issue is that the old distributor in the US (whom we have replaced) is ranking first for our brand name. I'm working on increasing our inbound links, but is there anything else I could be doing to jump ahead of them in the rankings? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!
