Should corporate blog sit outside a corporate website?
-
Hi guys (& gals)
We are in the midst of revamping our own agency website and i used to have blog site that talks about agency's thoughts and elaboration on process etc. I personally feel it could be better to consolidate these content into my agency's url since it will create better relevances and thus improve my DA.
Appreciate if i have some feedback if my thoughts are on the right track with the community?

hi Tymen,
Thanks. I learn something new today!

Hi,
I have one blog outside my company which completely focuses on 1 keyword. I host it outside for I know that if you own and host several websites linking to each other on 1 server it can be regarded spammy.

Hi thanks.
Sorry that i was not clear. The current blog resides on a completely different URL from the corporate site.
My personal thoughts are since both are trying to draw similar target audiences in, it is better like Chris as mentioned, to focus on one DA instead.Just out of curiosity, will hosting on a separately make a difference?
Thanks so much for all your thoughts!J

Hi Jason,
I agree with Chris here. Focus on 1 domain and that will improve the rankings and DA. If you do choose to blog outside your domain I would do it on a completely different url which you host somewhere else as well.
Regards,
Tymen

Yep, you're on the right track Jason.
Since search engines view a subdomain as a separate entity, building valuable content and natural traffic/links to it means you're essentially driving all that referral traffic and strength to another website.

If my blog is on Wordpress, and I've installed the AMP plug-in, what do I need to do to get Google to start indexing all my posts as AMP pages?
If I add /amp to the end of any of my posts, I can see that the plug-in is working. It's been months since I installed it, though, and Google hasn't indexed any of the AMP pages. Am I missing a step?

No URL for my blog?!!!
I use a website provider for my website. Sadly, although it has an integrated blog, the blog posts title does not get included in the URL. So now, with my limited knowledge of SEO I'm wondering if blogging is still worth it? Any thoughts Greatly appreciated! 🙂

Advice on how to handle Guest Blogging between multiple brands
How to you manage your guest blogging efforts between companies. I blog for 4 different companies, and just started….I am confused if I should blog as myself, or should each company have an "author" set up, and then guest blog under each author? I want their website to get better rankings, and the brand to get more engagement. I am not concerned about myself and my authorship rating….but should I be? Would that be more beneficial to have all blogs tied to me, to help with engagement. Or am I shooting myself in the foot by not increasing my authorship. What's more important? Authorship or blogging about the relevant content from the author that makes the most sense? Just looking for tips from anyone that has to blog under different brands. How do you do it?!?! (also, looking into myguestblog plugin)

Blog Benefits
I read a very interesting answer by Andy Solo to a previous question in which he replied: "Use your blog to create some Tips & How-To's, optimize those blog entries for the long tail keywords and soon enough your blog will be the gateway into your website. Learn how to target longl-tail keyword searches and how to analyze keyword competition to find the right niche blog posts to create". With my own company site, www.nile-cruises-4u.co.uk which has a long-standing blog attached, www.nile-cruises-4u.co.uk/blog I always felt that the blog content greatly aided our top positions in Google.co.uk. However, over the last 12 months we have slipped right down page one and I wondered if the blog is still helping our site or if the emphasis/value has switched and Google is looking at a lot of other factors where we score badly? Sub Domains or Multiple Domains? Which is a better way to go for blogs?
We just can’t decide what the answer is, particularly from an SEO perspective. We want to run multiple blogs on different categories, please assist on deciding should we go with different blog domains or create subdomains for each category.

Duplicate Websites
What would you do if a competitor had their main domain, and then another domain targeting your local area with the same exact content? That's currently happening to me, and I'm not sure what I should do about it, if anything: http://www.bozemanchevrolet.com and http://www.montanachevy.com
