Onpage Optimisation
-
Hi Guys,
Has anyone noticed that the onpage rules seem to have changed in terms of what Google is looking for.
I have just been optimizing a client site, I haven't worked on for a year and noticed that the pages I have worked on have dropped since lat week when I finished the onpage. Some of them aren't just 1 or 2 places but literally pages. It can't be links as I haven't even started link building yet. These are the same rules i have been playing with for six years and I don't cut corners with rogue text, or overly optimize for keywords.
I am going to give it till the end of the month and then reverse the changes be interesting to see what happens.
Kind Regards
Neil

Yeah! just ran another report and now they have all changed again!!. Definitely reckon its having a dance!!
-
Ha, for an industry that publishes so much information, the basics have not really changed at all.
-
Looks like the "Google Dance" it's now 78th.
Thank you Marcus, thought I was going to have relearn everything!!!

Hey Neil, changes are never that huge and dramatic and to be blunt, things are pretty much the same on page (give or take) that they were 12 years ago when I first started this game.
It's possible you may have another problem here - do you know what the client has been doing for the last 18 months? Any link building? Is there any thin or duplicated content?
This could be a rough gig as the client will want to hang this on you but it could be something else entirely.

Should I utilize URL re-writes to include keywords and other optimised page elements on my website?
Hi there, I am working on a medical recruitment website: https://wave.com.au/ I have noticed that our Job Search and Job Listings section of the website is lacking a little bit in terms of SEO optimisation. For example, at the moment this is our search page (with locum work type selected): https://wave.com.au/search-locum/results If you add a location, for example, NSW and then click search again, it updates the URL to: https://wave.com.au/search-locum/results?LocumSearchForm_Location[]=NSW&action_doSearch=Search+jobs I did a check what some competitors and leaders in the recruitment industry were doing and I came across: https://www.ochrerecruitment.com.au/jobs/anaesthetics/new-south-wales/locum/ If you click the different filters/options, it updates the URL to include more clearly defined categories. Some websites would even have a H1 heading tag that would update based on the filters/options you selected. Should I set up a set of URL re-writes and re-structure my website a little bit so that dynamic URLs change to static etc.? Does anyone have any best practice knowledge in regards to this? I have been referencing the following article: https://mza.seotoolninja.com/blog/dynamic-urls-vs-static-urls-the-best-practice-for-seo-is-still-clear

Building an optimised friendly website
We are in the process of having a new website built and was wondering what factors do we need do we need to instruct our web company to include, at the build phase, to ensure that we can easily optimise it for SEO purposes. They have designed us a previous site that has excessive duplicate URLs and they haven’t given us access to the code so we can’t add 301 redirects etc and would like to avoid this in the future. I look forward to hearing from you

Onpage optimization different outcomes for keyword with or without accent
I am a little bit confused with the results of the onpage analysis. I am trying onpage optimization for a spanish word which has an accent.. The results differ from Grade A, if i use the keyword with an accent, e.g. ropa premamá (the spanish word for maternity wear) to Grade C if I run the report without the accent ropa premama. I assume that most users will rather search for the keyword without accent. Would this mean that I need to change my keyword to non-accent or doesn´t it matter?

How to force a refresh after on-page optimisation update
After updating areas highlighted in the On-Page Optimization report even after clicking the [Grade My On-page Optimization] the results don't refresh or reflect the changes eg The h1 tag does include the exact search term and there is bolded examples of the keyword phrase but report says not! Is there a way to force an update or is it a time related issue?

Title, other html tags not showing on onpage reports
Either something is seriously wrong with my website or seomoz is not analyzing my site correctly. When I view the source code for my site (www.myfavoritetoys.com) I clearly see elements such as page title, h1 tags etc. However, on the onpage reports seomoz says these elements are missing. I am not seeing any meaningful data in the reports because it isn't analyzing correctly. Please help!

DUPLICATE PAGE VIA ONPAGE SEARCH
Hi, we have a fashion shop and we try to keep the page title as unique as possible. However google also indexes the search so the say search for brand gucci - type - dress - size 8 - then it indexes it with the homepage title rather then what the searched for. Should I block google from indexing search variation (because there could be thousand of variations) or is there a module that would use the search as a page title so gucci dress 8 for example. Many thanks for your time.
