Non-performing keyword
-
We recently completely started over with our website. I didn't mind not ranking for these keywords for a while because through extensive TV commercials our branded keywords perform the best for us anyway.
However, a month and a half later, all but one keyword is ranking in the top 3 pages on Google. We are using Joomla! CMS and I first suspected that it may be a problem, but all of my crawl results are good. I think Joomla sites look good and are really easy for clients to edit on their own. I would really like to keep offering Joomla sites, but if this is the cause, I may need to reconsider.
I have a few links to the page and I do know that I need more, but I have pages and keywords with fewer backlinks and harder keywords that are ranking.
I have been busy with clients and unable to spend a lot of time on MY site ( My grandma always told me, " The Shoemaker's kids go barefoot"). I'm wondering if anyone can take a peek and help me over this hump?
It's probably something stupid, and the rest of my sites are performing on the 1st page for their keywords, so I must be doing something right . I'm just not sure what I'm not seeing.
The page in question is http://wootencomputer.com/internet-marketing/web-design
and keyword I'm going for is: web design greenville sc
Thank you all so much in advance.
Also, I should add that with our past sites, we've ranked very well with this keyword.

Thanks Guys! I know I've been really slack with my link building on this new site. I am going to focus a couple hours a day on MY site for a while.
Thank you both very much!

I agree with matt "I've seen well optimized Joomla sites rank well - I just don't think yours commands the authority necessary to take on the top domains on this search. It may seem like a low competition search but even Adwords shows it as "high" competition, despite just 1300 searches / month."
I would keep creating great content that will attract people to link to your site and that will help you rank.

A few things are probably affecting you more than you are seeing:
-
Your main site has over 1200 links but this page of your site has 4 that I see: http://bit.ly/S0YetL
-
You say this isn't a competitive search but at the very top, it is. Not that Moz data is the be-all end-all but your Page Authority/Domain Authority is 31/23. The lowest PA on the top 10 is 45 and the lowest DA is 35. Both beat your site by a hefty margin.
-
Of your 1200 links to the main domain, their DA dropoff is very rapid. OSE only shows 18 external links from 10 unique domains. That really isn't going to compete yet with www.orange coat.com who Google shows with 86,000 links and OSE shows 15,000+ links from 122 domains. Your numbers just aren't there.

Managing website content/keywords for wordpress site
We are in the midst of redesigning our website and have been working with freelance blog/content writers to increase the unique content on our site. We are finding it increasingly difficult to manage the topics/keywords as we continue to expand. Googledrive and google spreadsheets have been our primary tools thus far. Can anyone recommend a good tool that would allow us to manage content and blog posts for our site?

Will keyword optimization for a landing page impact SEO for subsequent pages?
For example, if I optimize keyword “pleurx” really well on our landing page, I'd like to know if subsequent

even if “pleurx” wasn't optimized on the subsequent pages. Thanks! -Andrew0 -
How many keywords is too many?
Since it seems it takes so long for Google to revisit a changed page, we sort of loose track of changes made trying to optimize a specific URL for a keyword. Any sense of how many times is the optimum number of times to use a single keyword on a single page? I'm referring to the total including Title, Description, Content, Alt=. The whole shooting match. I have seen our Google results improve after we have removed several iterations of a keyword Thank You

Should the primary navigation use keyword rich menu items?
There doesn't seem to be a definitive (or even authoritative) answer to this. The quandry is primary top navigation - the client wants to use 2-3 keyword length nav items, and I'm politely forcing him to use single word nav. The problem is that I have nothing to back up that assertion other than "this way looks better". Examples - Site is www.buybluewidgets.com. The client wants: About Our Blue Widgets Buy a Blue Widget Azure Widget Information Sell Your Blue Thingamajig My suggestion is: About Us Buy Learn Sell

Competitive Analysis: Links & Keywords
I'm noticing that for some key local search terms our company is not ranking in SERPs as I would expect considering it's size relative to the local sites that are ranking. I subscribed to SEOmoz to get a better understanding of what's going on, and haven't figured it out yet. Our site is higher in almost every metric than the sites we're competing with, but our competition consistently ranks higher in organic results for industry standard keywords. The few metrics we're being outranked in are, "Linking C Blocks" and "Page MozTrust" (we're very close to the leader in MozTrust). Are these two metrics enough to account for our companies poor SERP performance or do I need to be paying attention to something else?

Why do site links appear under one keyword and not another? Any ideas?
Hi everyone, I have a client whose website is doing the strangest thing. When I search the branded keyword (the company name), Google doesn't show any site links under the result. However, when I search for the company name plus Inc., I do get site links. Now, the website is ranking first in both searches, so that's not the issue. And, as near as I can tell, the site only contains one or two uses of the company name plus the word "inc." Most of the text on the page and all of the meta data only uses the company name, and most of the links that connect to the site use only the company name as well. Even the Who Is for the site doesn't use the term "inc." And ideas what might be going on? I know Google says that the process is still automated but for the life of me I can't figure out what kind of automated process would result in these results. Thanks! Megan (Rebecca's minion)

For a varied product type or keywords group is it best to have several sites?
Hello everyone... Question: I have 7-8 generic keywords that I would like to rank for, is it possible for one site to rank highly for all these different keywords, or would this be best achieved by making 2 or 3 websites in total targeting different keywords (product sectors)? More info: We are in a niche industry & would like to know if it would be beneficial to have several websites made for specific product types rather than one main site? Although these sub classifications of products are nice, they are competitive as they have a high search volume Would it be better to build specific websites that only do that one type of product and have related keyword in domain, content & blogs on the site to that effect to increase relevance and positions as a result? Thanks
