Phone Call or Email Better
-
Hello,
I had a Moz associate look at our niche, and he suggested using phone calls and emails for outreach. We are marketing an article that appeals to the humanitarian side of the organizations and companies we're contacting. We're contacting sites that are already listing useful articles.
When you have the choice between a phone call or an email for outreach, which do you choose?
The emails would be personalized, to a specific person when possible, and letting them know that we are a reciprocator by sharing across social channels and/or blog post commenting for them.
The phone calls would be to the companies' general contact numbers.
Which do you do first?
-
Likewise.
-
Thanks for sharing your perspective.

You're quite right but often if I am interested in what an email had to say, I'll already be on to the next email / work task and the notion of contacting them will be a distant memory.
Sometimes it pays off and when it does, it's an opportunity gained and not missed. I'd rather have 30 people tell me to shove my face in to a moving bus and have one person convert rather than let 31 people stew over an email which they may or may not ever get back to me about.
I can understand your approach though and I guess it really does depend on the type of email. I assume from the question, we're talking more outreach than we are DR/Sales.

Secondly, people are bombarded with nuisance calls now on a daily basis, to me it shows some respect when sending an email through first (no harm in mentioning the fact that you're avoiding to call them first).
If you do that to me I will tell you that if I was interested in your offer I would have acted upon your email message.... and that you calling me as follow up is rude.
Just being honest.
-
Lots of people send me email messages.
If I am interested in what they send I act on it. If I am not interested in what they sent I delete it.
If they call after I deleted their message I am really pissed off. They are interrupting me and wasting my time.
If what they had to say was really important they would have gotten action. A lack of action should let them know that their message was SPAM.

Do both!! Send a personalized email and then follow up with a phone call. Phone calls generate a better response than email, and if the phone call is a few days after the email, its not completely a cold call.

Hi Bob,
Personally I've always had more success emailing first. Then I follow up with a phone call. Reason being is that I found myself spending way too much time explaining myself to someone who had no idea what I was talking about or who I needed to speak to within the company. Even when I eventually did get through to the right person, it was difficult to get their attention without sounding like a cold call sales person.
Secondly, people are bombarded with nuisance calls now on a daily basis, to me it shows some respect when sending an email through first (no harm in mentioning the fact that you're avoiding to call them first).
The best route in for me at the moment is Linkedin. Easy to find specific people within an organisation that you know you need to speak to make things happen. Tend to get a better conversion rate through this.
Cheers, Steve.

Is it better to have backlinks from domains with medium DA, UR, using same language and good relevancy, or backlinks from domains with high DA, UR but using another language and with less relevancy?
Dear all, while I understand that quality backlinks with high DA, UR, same-language and relevancy would be best, would backlinks with high DA, UR but less relevancy and using languages other than the one used in my website be something good? Or would they do more harm than anything else and still be outcompeted by backlinks with lower DA, UR but same language and/or more relevancy? Thank you Frank

Is it better to have micro-sites with good content or redirect domains?
I have a domain with a lot of content and it is an eCommerce site. I've just been told that we have another 12 domains that are inactive and do not redirect. I don't know what to do with them as they haven't been used for ages and do not direct or have any content (max of a DA or 4). Therefore which is better for SEO? To have really good content with perhaps a few regular blog posts on each of the 12 domains, or to redirect all of the domains to the one main domain? I would take 1 domain and put a lot of content on and optimise is.. spending a few weeks on one and then move onto another, all while posting on each blog on each domain. Thank you for any help! 🙂

Are links from charities really better than 'normal' links.
Hi Guys. Just wondering about this idea that links from Charities are particularly good. I've heard people say that links from .org sites are particularly strong. But anyone can get a .org domain, it's just that charities tend to use them more often. Right? I just don't get the logic. Can anyone give more detail about this? Is it a myth? Is there quality info on this topic I can check out? We're working with several charities at the moment, and they all seem happy to blog and link to us...so I just wanted to know a little more. Isaac.

How does this site rank higher than a seemingly better one??
Ok, I'm really trying to wrap my self around all this SEO stuff. Right when I think I'm grasping it, I come across something like this. When running a keyword difficulty report for the term "essay editing", the top two results are: www.papercheck.com/essay-editing.html www.gradesaver.com/essay-editing/ The first result has a PA of 37, 2 linking page domains, DA of 48, and 197 root linking domains. The second has a PA of 65, 32 linking page domains, DA of 68, and 2,572 root linking domains. What the heck is going on here!?!? I can't understand it. I checked anchor text and that doesn't appear to be it. The only thing I can find is that the papercheck has a link from a site (marketwire) with a DA of 90 while the #2 guy's highest linking domain has a DA of 60. However, I have a really hard time wrapping my head around this considering the total linking domain stats compared to one another. Any insight is much appreciate... this is frustrating trying to grasp these situations! Thanks!

Is it Better to Link to an Article or Post it on my Site?
I have a client who has a few articles written about her and posted on different news-related sites. She has asked me to capture these articles (we have permission) and create a section on her site for them. My question is this... From an SEO standpoint, would it be better to link _to the _articles, post them on her site or both? Or, maybe there's an even better way I'm not thinking of. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kirk

What is the best wording you have seen in an outreach email?
We all get them and most of them are rubbish, very few of them have taken the effort to find out who they are emailing. So making it personal and doing some research first is essential but what about the wording of the email... can you share examples you like & that have had more success for you than others?
